2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E63

Failure Date: 04/20/2022

Have strong odor of fuel in cabin and outside driver's side rear of vehicle that has been increasing in intensity over the past couple of months. I removed the rear seat bench and the access cover for the fuel pump under the driver's side rear seat and found pooled fuel on top of the pump as well as a lot of dirt and grime showing that it had been a problem for some period of time. I dried up the fuel but the problem continues, and continues whether or not the tank is full or less than 1/2 full.

3 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Mercedes Benz E63

Failure Date: 07/05/2021

Strong smell of gas noted at the driver rear wheel well after a fillup. Under the rear seat, the top of the fuel tank is under a pool of gasoline. The cap that covers pump/filter/sending units is leaking. I cleaned up the gasoline, and almost immediately the indent on the top of the tank began filling up with gasoline again. Air is getting into the fuel system, making it difficult to start. No warning lights to indicate an issue.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Mercedes Benz E63

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

Leaky fuel sending unit. I brought my 2008 E63 amg into mercedes of boston for to repair a leaking fuel sending unit around the spring of 2015. I realize this was an issue for many e class and was being investigated by NHTSA. I specifically asked my service advisor if mercedes was at least covering part of the repair. He said there was no warranty coverage on it. I paid $900 for the repair. I just found out on the NHTSA that mercedes gave an extended warranty coverage for fuel related parts for 15 years as of September 2014. Mercedes is deliberately hiding these details from consumers. No notifications was ever sent. No refunds offered.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Mercedes Benz E63

Failure Date: 04/26/2014

As a loyal Mercedes Benz customer for years it pains me to write this letter. I am shocked to see a class action lawsuit against mbna and have personally had two fuel cell issues in two separate amg cars 6 years apart. It doesn't matter that my extended warranty covered the cost before and this time. It sickens me that mbna refuses to acknowledge that this is a defect in the design and products utilized in these amg vehicles yet the design was changed. Customers are not told that this is a flaw that happens on many of the amg instead they are treated as if each are unique cases. Shame on mbna for treating such loyal customers with such disregard and not admitting to the public that this is a limitation that consumers and insurance companies should be aware of for their safety. It personally placed my family in harms way this past weekend during a trip to naples FL. I think each executive of mbna should be forced to drive their family with this issues so they better understand how we feel. For a company so focused on safety. . . They are dropping the ball for thousands of consumers and hiding the truth. Respectfully I demand that mbna be held directly accountable for this defect and admit the issue to all amg owners 2003-2009. I have pictures of the most recent defect and the work orders from the original. . . .

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Mercedes Benz E63

Failure Date: 12/05/2013

Strong fuel smell after fill up for over a year. Was brought to mercedes with no fix. Recent inspection resulted in finding a puddle of fuel under the rear seat on the fuel sending unit. Further research shows this is a ongoing problem for other e-class and has been reported to NHTSA, and current fixes if any has been failing and even owners having to pay out of pocket for something mercedes should be fixing under warranty due to this serious potential safety and fire issue. I have two toddlers who sit in this car everyday.

Learned that there is NHTSA action number: pe12001 pertaining to e55 which was previous year model to mine. Threat of fire under where my chiild sits is unacceptable. Similar to the complaints filed by Mercedes Benz w211 members owning 2003 - 2006 e55 amg's, my 2007 w211 E63 amg is experiencing fuel leaking from the fuel sender/pump assembly unit. I noticed a distinct gas odor in my garage the morning after I filled up with gas. I checked the fuel sender/pump assembly area as is stated in many forums where owners are complaining about this commonly occurring issue. There was fuel puddled in the cup of the assembly.
