Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 2013 Mercedes Benz GLK350

Three problems related to air bag not deploy have been reported for the 2013 Mercedes Benz GLK350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2019

Tl- the contact owns 2013 Mercedes Benz Glk350. The contact stated that while the driver was driving between 12 and 18 mph, another vehicle was stop, the driver rear ended the vehicle, the air bag failed to deploy. The driver sustained # 2 through 7 ruptured disk to the neck that required medical attention. The contact mention the other driver did not sustained injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic body shop where the front end of the vehicle was rebuild from the accident damage and also a diagnostic testing was completed of the air bag but could not find a failure. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired of the air bags failure. The VIN was part of NHTSA campaign number: 18v043000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to send a copy of the accident report and did not offer further assistance. The approximated failure mileage was 61,300. The contact also stated that mercedes-benz of south mississippi (11619 bobby eleuterius blvd, d'iberville ms 39540, (228) 265-9185) and mercedes-benz of new orleans (3727 veterans blvd, metairie, la 70002, (504) 456-3727) were contacted when he received the recall and was informed part was not available. The manufacturer was also contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 61,300. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Aw.

2 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2018

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 mercedes-benz Glk350. While driving approximately 65 mph, there was a whining noise coming from the dashboard. The contact stated that the noise was heard when the vehicle was traveling 65 to 70 mph. In addition, the contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The contact was concerned that the air bag might not deploy in the event of a crash. The vehicle was taken to carmax (21939 southwest fwy, richmond, TX 77469, (281) 232-7180) where an appointment was scheduled for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v043000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

3 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Mercedes Benz Glk350. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the contact was involved in a head on crash wiih another vehicle. The airbags failed to deploy. The contact sustained head injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed . The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure.
