1 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2011 Mercedes Benz GLK350

Failure Date: 12/07/2021

Because of the low quality of the plastic, which was used in the fuel pump body on my Glk350, formed a crack on both bodies of the fuel tanks. Fuel is coming out directly under the rear seat and dripping down to the road. This is a safety hazard, and could cause a possibility of fire.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz GLK350

Failure Date: 01/25/2021

We started to develop a strong smell of gas inside the vehicle. I started to research online to find that many mercedes models have the same problem, a crack develops on a cap that houses the fuel pump under the back seat inside the vehicle. This permits gas fumes to enter the vehicle, let alone actual gasoline to collect above the cap and leaking under the seat inside the vehicle. Some people try to just patch it with epoxy and attempt to replace parts. But this problem seems to be ongoing for years on various models and obviously is a design flaw that needs immediate attention by the manufacturer. You need to drive with the windows open and if the vehicle is parked overnight, you cannot enter the vehicle for a long time in the morning, until it aerates.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Mercedes Benz GLK350

Failure Date: 12/12/2019

Small quantity of spilled liquid causes shutdown of engine and fuel ecm. Over $2200 to repair (replacing fuel pump! and ecm!), but the real issue is the immediate disabling of the vehicle in traffic can easily cause an accident. This could be prevented by a little cover or epoxy or caulk. This module was killed by a spill in the cargo area which can be caused by a kid spilling a drink in the back seat also. This is very dangerous as this incident was a near miss with many vehicles as it occurred on a 6 lane highway. The vehicle is a sport utility vehicle marketed to be able to carry groceries and children. Groceries such as liquids can burst or leak, children can spill drinks. Mbusa documented the case, but refuses to issue a recall or upgrade.

9 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Mercedes Benz GLK350

Failure Date: 12/05/2014

Message dashboard indicator (mdi) read "inoperative. See operator's manual" with other malfunction lights including check engine light (cel). Turned car off an on and only the cel remained. Also, there was a recurring ticking noise that preceded aforementioned issues that I also reported. Dealership repaired loose pin in engine ecu (p045100) for the cel and replaced a high pressure fuel pump for the ticking noise. Ticking noise continued and vehicle returned to dealership where they determined the ticking noise was related to the dash/radio/ac control panel/dash trimming moving against each other but indicated that this was normal (3778 miles) . The issue related to the mdi and cel occurred again on 01/25/2015. As with the initial occurrence, the cel remained on after restarting the vehicle. The vehicle seemed to stall while I was driving 65 mph on a major highway when driving a few hours later. Fortunately, I was able to exit the highway. I noticed that the car drove very sluggishly. For example, the car would hardly accelerate regardless of how far down I pressed the accelerator after attempting to continue from the red light. I recalled this happening with the first occurrence but then thought it was something I was doing incorrectly. The engine light remained on after restarting the vehicle and as I drove approximately 10 minutes to my final destination. The engine light did not come on when I started the car again at 10:40 am (4017 miles). Out of concern, and advice from family members given what happened when driving at a high speed, I took the car to a local auto store to see if they could determine any fault codes. A code of p2138 was returned.
