Extremely strong smell of gasoline when tank is filled, Mercedes Benz recalled 2011 and 2012 model year Glk350 vehicles for a fuel leak but did not recall model year 2010 Glk350 vehicles. The same recall is necessary for model year 2010 glk 350 vehicles.

Vehicle has ~ 20k miles, brought into dealer because abs light went on while driving saying system was inoperative. Dealer then found gas tank leak, and would not let me leave the dealer, because of the safety hazard. Search shows recall for earlier model year 2012 with same issue, but dealer says no recall for 2013. Abs sensors are also malfunctioning while driving. Two separate incidents for abs sensors. Two been replaced within one week!.

The glk smells like gas any time it's fueled up. I never top it off because if I do, it leaks fuel until I get down to 3/4 of a tank. I took it in to get looked at and the dealership warranty dept. Told me my VIN number was not one of the ones affected by the sameexat type of fuel leak as others in the recall! I am sorry that I ever bought this vehicle, I will never buy mercedes-benz again1.
There is a very strong fuel odor coming from rear left passenger tire area when tank gets completely with gas. I noticed the smell after leaving the gas station and bringing the car home to park it in my garage. The gas smell is so strong, it leaks into the house (via attached garage). Initially I assumed that I must have just spilled a little gas while pumping it. However, the second time I went to fill the car up the same exact thing happened. To date we have no remedy for this problem. Again, this has happened twice so far.
Everytime I fill up the tank, it smells gas in the garage after it stays overnight. I do not overfill the tank. But, this still persists. Many mb owners I have seen on the mb blogs and inquiries about this have the same issue. This is a potential safety hazard issue that requires immediate saftety recall. Please investigate. Thank you.
Plastic seal on gaskets for gas tank failed on both sides of car. Causes leaking of fuel and odor into passenger area of vehicle and danger of explosion due to leaking fuel. It occurs when gas tank is more than 3/4 full to full of fuel.
Since new the glk would smell like gas any time you fueled up. I never topped it off because the dealer told me that may be a reason you smell the fuel. I took it in to get looked at an they told me it's common it's just the evap system working. That's fine but after a few years anytime I filled up I noticed it would start leaking onto my garage floor. I took it in to the dealer and they told me it's out of warranty by a month an this would cost over a thousand to get fixed. I told them I read that a lot of mb are getting recalled due to the fuel leak. And they told me mine is not one of them. It's so frustrating to buy a car brand new an have fuel leaking out of ur gas tank. I have to fill up to 3/4 of the tank to keep it from leaking. I've been doing that for almost 2 years now.
Excessive fuel smell, turns out it's the fuel tank, was informed plastic fuel tank seam is splitting and is now a fire/safety issue. Informed that mercedes is aware of the problem and replaced many during warranty period, but now since my warranty is over this safety repair will cost me in excess of 3,000. 00. This is a fire hazard and big time safety issue that the NHTSA needs to look into.
On 4/24/16, a Toyota rear ended me and pushed me into the vehicle in front of me. The damage would have been repairable until my car caught on fire. It looked like it started in the inside above the gas tank area, but the man working at the impound lot the next day said it looked electrical. Either way, the impact should not cause a mercedes to catch on fire. I was on a city street stopped at a stoplight.
