The contact owns a 2000 Mercury Cougar. The contact stated that the battery cables leading from the battery to the alternator caused shortages. All of the electrical components flickered inside and outside the vehicle. He took the vehicle to a certified mechanic, who confirmed that there was a short somewhere in the vehicle. In addition, he noticed a failure within the fuel injection system. The rpm's would rev to a high degree and then decrease very quickly, which occasionally caused the vehicle to stall. The rpm's fluctuated when shutting off the vehicle or revving. The vehicle has not been taken to the dealer. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id numbers 01v031000 (electrical system:battery:cables) and 04v421000 (fuel system, gasoline). The current mileage was approximately 106,000 and failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

We have numerous complaints with this vehicle. One of which is the brakes. Another is the cooling system. There is a recall on the manifold but our local Ford dealer wlll not replace even though we have asked them to do so. In addition the engine had a problem which no one could figure out.

Brand new vehicle that is 5 months old and has less than 8,000 miles with full gas tank and no warning what so ever suddenly the car shook, and sputtered the check engine light came on and the vehicle died and had to be towed. The vehicle was then at the dealer for 5 days and they determined it was the fuel pump and replaced it. Four days after getting the vehicle back while alone in the car on the way home from work late in the evening, the car again suddenly started to sputter, and shake, the check engine light came on and then the car died again. Will now have to be towed into the dealer again. It is unacceptable and frightening that we have a brand new vehicle which we are now without for the remainder of the thanksgiving weekend to go anywhere as the dealer is closed and have to worry whether or not will suddenly get stranded late at night because the vehicle fails without warning. This is not an acceptable situation.

There is a leakage within the fuel injection system. Gas is leakage from the vehicle. Also, consumer replaced transmission four times.
There is a leakage within the fuel injection system. Whenever consumer put gas into the vehicle, the gas leaks out, and the consumer can smell gas in vehicle. Vehicle has been in repair shop three times for the fuel injection. Also consumer had transmission in repair shop four times. Vehicle is still in repair shop for fuel injection problems, and dealer can't determine the problem.
Smell gas fumes, gaps around sunroof, front wheel area loud noises when turning, back window not sealed, brake lights don't always works, dim lights not bright enough to see.
I have taken my vehicle in 4 different times for the same problems. The car boags down and stalls while driving. This has caused me to stall in traffic several times. The problem has still not been fixed in the 4 times I've taken it in. Not to mention all the other small things. Constant rattle in the dash and windows, battery light stuck on, trunk will not unlatch, and the dash lights will surge even after I've had the dash replaced. I am very upset with this car and even more with the lack of service being provided by the dealership!.
