When the gas gauge registers below 1/2 tank, and the tank is refueled to capacity, it takes several miles driving( approx. 30-50 miles) for the gauge to register full. Also, if the tank is towards the empty mark, and the car is filled to capacity, and he car is driven, the low fuel light will come on, and say on for an extended period of time. At times, before the car is driven, the car refuses to start as if it is not getting any gas. After it sets for a while, it will start.

The contact owns a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that while reversing the vehicle, he heard an abnormal noise coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact exited the vehicle to inspect the vehicle. The contact stated that the fuel tank detached and was hanging down underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, there was no assistance provided. The failure mileage was 63,824.
