Engine Exhaust System Problems of Mercury Grand Marquis

While driving my vehicle home from work in the evening, the car started to putter, then smoke came pouring out from under the engine hood blocking my view from the road causing cars to race around me and almost had an accident. . . Also started coming in the vents of the car, making me nausea. Extreme danger and fear. I had to have the car towed $65. 00 and the repair estimate came in at $900. 00. Cracked plastic intake manifold. ??plastic?? who does that? I have been unemployed and only able to get part time employment. I can't afford this repair so I had to have the car towed back to my house. . . Another $65. 00. The car only has 85,218 miles on it and has been kept immaculate. I contacted Mercury/Ford and they said there is nothing they can do. In researching, I spent hours reading hundreds and hundreds of postings regarding the same situation. . . And also, the same car, Ford crown victoria has the exact same problem. I understand there was a "silent recall" where only government fleet/police cars were taken care of. How nice! the replacement was with a metal part, which it should have been from the beginning. This is an extreme neglect on Ford/Mercury part. I believe that the investigation and action should be based on the quantity of both the crown victoria and Grand Marquis combined, since they are the exact same car manufactured. Please help!.

Car started running hot all of a sudden. . Found out the intake manifold was cracked and the coolant was leaking on spark plugs and fuel injectors. Causing the car to misfire and slow to pick up speed. Tried to get fixed but was told the exp. Date was in 07. So I have to pay out of pocket. . I feel a recall shouldn't have an expiration date cause it tells you that one of these days the part on the car is going to need to be fixed. I feel Ford should live up to their word and fix the problem no cost to customer. . .

Motor heated up, was extremely hot, had to have vechicle towed to a repair shop. They found a cracked plastic intake manifold . It was replaced and resolved the problem.

The engine on my '97 Grand Marquis blew up with 37,057 miles on it. According to the service dept, a valve stuck open, the engine backfired into the intake and blew it out. I need to replace the intake and the cylinder head, and have been quoted about $3500 to repair it. According to the Ford factory rep, Ford will not participate in the repair because the car is over 6 years old.

The vehicle had an odor.

The cars exhibits problem described in bulletin 15415 sb630431. Dealer claimed it was exhaust vibration. They realigned the exhaust. This did nothing to correct. The dealer claims it must be the way I drive since all the others on the lot are just like.

When driving a long distance 500-600 miles per day the bottom of the truck got very hot. Seems exhaust system is too close. Dealer contacted and is not aware of the problem.

Stainless steel exhaust was rusted. The vehicle had a stainless steel exhaust. After the return from florida where they stayed for winter, the exhaust system was found rusted.

Vehicle is driven in bahrain where unleaded fuel is unavailable. Does owner need to replace part of the exhaust system and the engine electronic processor?.
