My car is covered by a recall for lighting control module controlling the headlights. This recall was issued December 21, 2015. I just spoke to the service manager at my local Ford dealership and I was informed that Ford motor company has not made repair parts available as of this time. Since this recall covers a component that when it fails can render the headlights inoperable I am curious as to why Ford motor company is being allowed to not make a remedy for this recall available?.
My headlights go off by themselves while driving at night. I went online to see what the issue maybe and saw that there was a recall for headlights lcm issue. This is very dangerous, especially at night and it is pitch dark and your headlights decide to go out. I tapped under the dash above the pedals and they came back on, but went back off after a few minutes so I drove the rest of the way home with my high beams on. I never received a recall notice and want to know how I can have this recall fixed ASAP since it's a man. Fact. Issue. . . . .
On 12-7-2016 I was told by fremont Ford in fremont CA that they would not be able to fix my headlight problem -- a factory recall item -- until March 2017 at the earliest because the part would not be available from Ford until then. The headlights won't stay on. I can't drive at night or in the rain (headlights required in the rain in CA). Unacceptable.
A recall was issued regarding headlights not functioning for this car last year. I own 2 Mercury Grand Marquis, both have headlights that go out intermittently and the local dealer maintains that the parts still aren't available to complete the recall service. So the end result is I have 2 cars I can only drive during daylight with no precipitation or fog in the forecast. The service manager says that we could pay privately to have it fixed and then maybe get reimbursed by Ford. I believe Ford should be doing more to complete this recall service.
Intake manifold failed (burned and disintegrated in the area of the thermostat ) and had to be replaced at considerable expense . Presently the speedometer fails intermittently dropping to zero at random moments. Most importantly the lights cut out intermittently usually when the heat is on and on longer trips. Also, most times it has happened when it has been raining and colder. Drove upwards of 40 miles with the headlights cutting out intermittently in the rain and cold, problem has continued to recur but seems to be related possibly to having the heat on. I believe the lighting control module is located near a heating outlet and may be suffering a failure as a result but this is just speculation. Also, previously when I had pulled into a rest area for awhile, after cooling down, the problem went away for a little while then resumed after about ten miles with the heat on. I believe it is being caused by the excessive heat the lcm is subjected to by virtue of the area in which it is installed. The lighting control module is of motorola manufacture with siemans relays inside. The part has numerous numbers on it , most prominently: xw7t-13c788-aa , 6mx2794a01, 990429a, and lighting control 95m . Others online with similar vehicles (crown victorias) and of other model years manufactured by Ford have reported similar problems and that replacing the relays has resolved the issue. I do not know that this part is the source of the problem but suspect it as many others online have reported that this part was the source of their problems.

My headlights failed. Ross tire and service performed diagnostic service. Informed me of need for lighting control module replacement that could be done for free at a Ford dealership because of a recall. Ford never sent me a recall notice! I was minutes away from being on the I-10 atchafalya basin bridge which has no shoulder or lighting! the dealership in lafayette fixed my car free of charge however Ford has failed to cover the cost of the diagnostics done for me at ross's tire and service. I was on a city street when my lights failed on my way to I-10. I have documentation.
My headlights fail intermittently, don't know when it going to happen. It causes a safety hazard for me and any driver around me on the road. I am afraid to drive the vehicle in the evening. Ford sent me notice of recall twice in two years but, no parts available till they call. Do I have to crash before they get the parts or they waiting for my car to die before it is fixed. A big gamble on fords part. Guy57575@gmail. Com.
