Speed Control Linkage Problems of Mercury Grand Marquis

Vehicle suddenly zoomed forward while leaving a parking lot. On several occasions, the consumer experienced sudden acceleration with the vehicle. The dealership checked all the linkages and pedal assembly but was unable to diagnose the defect which caused this dangerous condition.

Was pulling out of parking lot when vehicle suddenly accelerated. Had foot on brakes at time, but brakes failed to stop vehicle. Hit another vehicle, and finally came to a stop after fuel cut off switch kicked in. Had vehicle towed to dealer & was informed by mechanic who activated the valve in trunk & was able to restart vehicle.

After changing gear from reverse to drive vehicle suddenly accelerated out of control, hit a curb, and was heading toward a building. Driver was able to maneuver vehicle out of its path, causing vehicle to shut off. Vehicle was towed to dealer . Dealer informed consumer that nothing could be found.

Accelerator got stuck in open position, causing vehicle to continue accelrating after coming to a stop. Vehicle hit some thing before shutting off. Ford has been contacted.
