Tl the contact owns a 2008 Mercury Mariner hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled with an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to andy mohr Ford located at 2713 e. Main st, plainfield, in 46168 however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.

Takata recall well driving my vehicle lost acceleration. When I step on the gas the vehicle didn't accelerate as the rpm went up. I was coming to a stop light on city street. As I made the stop at stop-light as the light turn green I stepped on the has and the rpms went up but vehicle barely moved.

Tool light comes on and car loses power in traffic, very, very dangerous. Dealership updated with computer but vehicle is still doing it. Please do a recall Ford.

I am getting continual throttle body errors on my 2009 Mariner. It goes into low power mode so I can "limp home". It happens mostly on highways when I need to "punch it" and get alot of acceleration.

On the freeway and car suddenly has overdrive light blinking, at the same time I began losing power, I was able to get off freeway but not after I open hood and nearly got run over. I was checking to see if there was overheating or smoke. But nothing. I have already replaced pcm, transmission, and torque converter. Consequently my shifter is broken and you can see down into transmission. Obviously no I can't drive, I will have to have vehicle towed. Why hasn't transmission been recalled on this vehicle. I could not think about if my child would have been with me and stood in front of car. He never would have been able to move that quickly or even worse with freeway driving I even could have been hit from behind.

When intering to tunnel my car suddenly speed up it felt like I had the gas pedle down to the floor. Even while holding the brake all the way down, this did not slow the car down much. There were no warning lights or check engine lights on then or now.

Electronic throttle body p2119 code. All of the sudden losses power going into or out of traffic and the wrench tool light "lights up" it may go away by itself or not , "cut be scary" at times it has shut down in several instances on my own st or down the Ave or another town etc. . . For no apparent reason it happens while turning or during acceleration at one point I had to wait for several minutes on the highway before starting the vehicle again and I get similar codes related to tbs powertrain and the fuel cap I noticed that when filling up, I need to stop pumping gas once it has stops automatically, without me topping it off not even once! and the light will most likely will not come on,it may go away by itself if not I erase the code. I clean the electronic throttle body last summer and it has run with no problems at all until now! well a month a go! this summer I am getting lots of problems with the tbs again same symptoms like before all over again,except for the gas light. Thank you.

Speed shift forced on 2nd and 4th, the vehicle has only 77000 miles and transmission is bad, contacted the dealer about the problem and no action taken, they said the vehicle is not on a recall campaign and owner needed to do repair and if the campaign started on this problem in the future they will reimburse the repair amount, I need the vehicle on a daily basis and now I'm stock with the repairs cost of 1500 plus labor. The contact stated that while driving and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate over 15 mph and the service warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed twice that the throttle control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,000.

Same results of the consumer satisfaction program 13n03. A defective throttle body. Car began to stall/choke out while accelerating. It continued to do so until it finally left me on the side of the road. Ford is aware of the problem but because my car was built at a different time/plant does not offer assistance for a known unsafe problem. This started on the freeway and continued after I exited for fear of stalling on the freeway. Car has to be towed/repaired at my expense. A friend has the same model vehicle/same problem last year, but due to her car being built at that plant/time was compensated for the same exact problem. Again, Ford is aware of the problem but minimizes coverage. I can't help but think of what could have happened if my wife/daughter had been driving(at night). In reality, it is unsafe and I could have been killed.

Driving at 40 mph car stalls, pull over, car starts up engine lite on, (sat) take to dealer on mon (12/15/2014), explain to dealer, they call 3 hours later to say "purge valve needs to be replaced"ok this should be covered right? she says no! the cost to you will be $320. 33. I told her this is part of the emissions, it has to be, she said no its not! I purchased this car from this dealer 3 1/2 years ago, (bought is new) still underwarranty. . But this is not covered! the 800 number to fords blew me off! and said what the dealer says goes!>. Why did she suggest I call them then! (not good customer service) I was hoping for explanation! please help, this should be coverd. Look at your on line complaints about this! shame shame shame. Of course I paid it, I need my car! please note I was told that there were at 5 or more cars with the same/similar problem.

Vehicle surges wildly at idle speeds in traffic. Vehicle stalls out while driving regular highway speed, surges wildly while driving, rpm spikes drastically while driving and at idle. Stalls and surges both while entering traffic from a stopped position and while driving at regular pace. Struggles to crank after fueling the vehicle. Spits and sputter and shakes while at idle.

Acts like throttle body failure. No power when accelerating but rpms go up and then surges when finally throttle works . Wrench light on.

Coming to a stop at a red stop light and then trying to accelerate from red to green light at an intersection my vehicle went into limp mode, it lost power. It would not accelerate pass 10mph. An engine light came on as a orange wrench light. I drove as I could and made to auto zone. They plug in the hand held car computer and it gave the code p2119. Which stands for throttle body.

Driving from columbus to cincinnati around 1:00 am with my daughter, son and 15 month old granddaughter. The car lost all power leaving us stranded on the side of the road. As I pulled over the car began to shake, almost like there was water in the gas line. I turned the car off, waited a few minutes and then restarted. The car reset itself and luckily we made it the rest of the way home. Not too long after that, I was driving home from work and it did the same thing. Except this time, it would only go about 2 miles before it would quit again. This is a very dangerous issue. No only could I have been in an accident, but being stranded on the side of the expressway in the middle of the night with an infant was terrifying! I had the throttle valve sensor replaced and there has not been any additional instances of power failure.

Tone ring snapped off of axle and caused the car to go into 2wd and apply the abs brakes when not actually being needed which almost ended up in rear ending a car when the failure occurred. Tone ring design needs looked it. This should not happen. Corrosion building up between the tone ring and axle seems to be what caused the force of snapping this ring. Just a poor design.

I was driving at 45mph when all of a sudden, the car stop running. I had to pull over and cut the car off. I started the car again and it went about one mile before it cut off again. Then a wrench symbol came on the left side dash board. I drove the car home and it cut off on me three times before I could get it home. I look in my car book to see what the wrench symbol means and it says that it is the throttle control/powertrain.

I was driving down the highway on my afternoon comute home with my 3 yr old daughter in the back seat and my vehicle lost power and the check engine light and a wrench light came on and it would not go above 25 mph. I almost got hit in the rear of my vehicle cause I was not expecting this to happen by any means, but I was able to coast off the highway and shut the engine down for a few minutes and restarted it drove about 5 miles and it did it again.

I had two separate occasions of my car stalling in the past three days. On may 1st I was traveling at about 40 mph when my wrench light came on and the car stalled out. Fortunately there was a median right by me and I was able to hurry up and move over before the car came to a complete stop. On may 3rd I was traveling at about 35 mph when the wrench light came on and my car stalled out in middle of the road. This time I was stuck in middle of the road but no one was behind me. I was able to restart the car and continue driving. If this had happened on the main road then there would have been a good chance of an accident occurring and harming me or my children.

While I was driving on hwy doing 75mph my Mercury Mariner 2009 it suddenly loss power and (while engine was running) I could not accelerate. "tool" light came on. I could not do anything to regain speed (accelerator was disable) and the only fix was to shut down the engine and re-start. Vehicle will start and work normally I took to the mechanics the next day he said that no codes came up.

My 18 year old son was driving my 2007 Mercury Mariner, when it started making loud noises and shaking like crazy, he was barely able to keep the vehicle running to get home. When my husband looked at vehicle and saw what it was doing, he thinks the transmission has gone out on it. We had driven the vehicle to church Sunday morning (same day) and there was no signs or symptoms of any kind of problem. I purchased the vehicle used, and it has not had a problem except for the shifter had to be replaced about 3 months ago. . . Mechanic stated that there had been something sweet spilled inside of the shifter, however, I drive the vehicle 99. 9% of the time and I drink water. . . . . . After researching and reading all the complaints on this vehicle on this website, I do realize that there is a manufactured defect in the transmission and the shifter. How and why has there not been a recall on these vehicles? why didn't some of the warning lights come on? we are very fortunate that this has not happened before now and caused us to have an accident.

I had just made a right turn and was proceeding down the block when I heard a sudden "click" and lost power. I couldn't steer and there was no power. I managed to get the car over to the curb and turn off the engine. I restarted it a few minutes later and it started up ok. However, the rsc warning light stayed on even though I had never pressed that button. This is not the first time this has happened. The first time it happened I was told it was a battery problem so I got a new battery. That was less than a year ago and I can't imagine I need a new battery that often - that simply needing a new battery will cause my car to fail! in doing some research I've come across several instances of the same issue necessitating replacement of the throttle body module with trouble codes p2111 and p2112 and, in fact,the north carolina consumers council (nccc) has officially petitioned the national highway safety administration (NHTSA) for a defect investigation of alleged throttle body failures in 2005-2012 Ford escape vehicles sharing the same or substantially similar part. Luckily I was only on surface streets and not the freeway. It's only a matter of time before this happens on the freeway! is there going to be a recall?.

Twice in two days while speeding up to get on highway my Mariner looses complete power and the wrench light comes on. Lucky for me it was just before I was turning on to merge. Seconds later it would have been a serious accident, due to the sudden stop. I had to shut the car off and start it back up in order to get going again. After reading #pe13003 has been file for the same exact problem with same make and model. Someone better react before someone looses a life. This is horrible.

I pulled into a gas station to turn around. When I came to a complete stop and pressed the gas pedal to go, my gas pedal wouldn't budge it was like it was stuck. When I pulled on the highway it done it again but it took longer to get my gas pedal to press down. When I come to stop now I have to keep my foot on the break and the gas pedal to insure that it will go when I press the gas pedal.

Car engine stopped while driving at a low (10-20 mph) speed. Second time this happened. First time on 2011 replaced throttle body then. It happened again 12/31/2013. Ford service said throttle body needs to be replaced again.

When accelerating through an intersection, my vehicle lost acceleration power and the power brakes failed. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle was slowly moved to a side street, backing-up traffic on the busy street. The vehicle was towed to a Ford dealership and the diagnosis was that throttle body needed replacing. The service cost me $503 plus tax.

While driving the Mariner at 45 mph on a busy street, the engine went into limp mode, lost all acceleration and slowed to 5 mph. I was nearly rear-ended by the truck behind me and was forced to pull up onto a sidewalk, damaging my tire. Pulled the codes on the car and got a p111 code. Did some searching on the internet and found that this is a common issue and an extreme safety hazard. I was very happy that I was the driver, and not my 16 year old daughter!!! this is the second safety issue we have had with this car in the last month -- earlier the power steering went out, again without any warning in traffic.

Was at stop light completely stopped. When the light turned green, I stepped on the accelerator and my car did not accelerate. The engine light and another light came on. I tried multiple times to move the car and nothing happened. I powered my car down and restarted it, at this time the car started moving again when I pressed on the accelerator.

The vehicle shut off while driving. This re-occurred several times during the next 8 days also while driving, one time while making a left hand turn across oncoming traffic. We researched the problem and had two estimates done and contacted Ford motor company. The throttle body had to be replaced and the repair cost us $400. 00 dollars. We have researched this problem and have seen that this is a very common safety problem. We spoke with our neighbors who have a Ford escape and already had their throttle body replaced as well for the same problem. We were told by the dealership that the new part is designed differently now, so this should not happen to us again. This has to be a recall item. It is obviously a manufacturing defect and is a huge safety concern. Ford should have to be responsible for these charges. We are very disappointed that Ford has not taken responsibility for this issue and that all of us have to pay for a defective system that Ford motor company knows is a problem, and could have been the cause of a major accident.

When pulling up to a stop sign the car just stopped next time coming off interstate to stop the vehicle kinda of lunged the next tine it just tried to stall had to put in neutral and keep foot on gas to keep it running.

Driving down a highway at 60mph the 2011 Mercury Mariner stopped accelerating. Pulled over to the side of the road. Waited 3 seconds and restarted the car. It hesitated to turn over but did restart.

Stop at a red light the fuel peddle got stuck would not accelerate. Finally the Mariner started moving then had to come to a stop for stop sign same thing happened. Took it to the shop said the "throttle" was broken on this. This is a very dangerous can't drive it with the throttle being broken. Never had a problem with a throttle on any of my pass cars.
