Wiper Problems of Mercury Mariner

Ford reprogrammed computer, was supposed to fix the problem. Driving vehicle and power steering assist failure occurred.

Got home from shopping, fiancee was getting the rest of the groceries. She closed the trunk normally, never slamming or anything, and the entire rear windshield shattered and fell to the ground. Luckily, no one was injured, but she could have been seriously injured if one of the large pieces had fell on her or a shard could've flown in her eyes. A windshield should not shatter and explode from normal use, this is clearly defective and I will be in direct contact with the manufacturer. It is my belief that the hydraulic pumps responsible for holding the windshield up when it is opened somehow malfunctioned and pushed on the winshield too hard when it closed, resulting in the complete shattering of the windshield.

Vehicle parked in driveway. Closed main rear hatch and rear window exploded.

I was stopped in a highway turn lane, waiting for traffic to pass in order to make a left turn, when heard a loud noise and the rear window on the lift gate suddenly shattered and exploded outward from the back of the vehicle, with most of the glass ending up on the roadway. This occurred in the early afternoon on a warm but not hot day (temps where probably in the low 80s).

Vehicle was parked and it was a very cold (28 degrees) and rear hatch glass just shattered.

The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that the rear driver side window slid down into the door. The contact stated that the window had to be pulled up manually. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear driver side power window regulator failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. One year later, the contact observed that the rear passenger side window slid down into the door and had to be manually raised. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear passenger side power window regulator failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Rear hatch doesn't seal tightly, resulting in leak when it's raining- then because of leak (I think) the rear defrost doesn't work- and I'm in michigan! also, the sealcoat on the rims chipped/wore off? this resulted in rims rusting and when I had tires replaced, now the tire won't seal to the rim edge because of pitting. Now I have no rear defrost, a leaking lift gate, and have to replace rims because the sealcoat failure allowed my rims to rust. The lift gate and rear defrost failure happened a couple months after my warranty time expired (my car only has 25k miles on it); and the rim I just found out after replacing all four tires due to 'dry rot' (not worn down) from the car not getting driven all the time.
