general problems of the 2010 Mercury Milan - part 1

Unknown when air temperature drops below 50 degrees radio console does not function. Display is locked with only the words "Mercury Milan". Now the electrical system is not functioning. I know it isn't the battery- I had it replaced within the past 4 months.

I have a 2010 Mercury Milan premier thats power steering went out I found out the part has been recalled on the 2011 model but not the 2010 model and it's the same exact part so now the 2011 has been recalled but not the 2010 and I'm out over 600 dollars + to fix it.

While driving the dash displayed service power steering now & advance trac. The car seemed normal until we pullled off the side of the road & turned off the ignition. Restarted & there was not any power assist & the traction control was iit up. It was extremely hard to steer so we had it towed.

Power steering assist fail at 133000 miles. I was just starting my car.

Went to open the driver side door and wasn't able to open from inside. I had to roll the window down to open door from outside handle. I find this to be a hazard if an emergency would have occurred. My car was in off position after parking and removing key out of ignition.

The car stalled on the highway, started up. About a mile later it stalled again. . . No warning lights came on. . . Then combusted into flames and burnt to the ground.

When driving at high speeds on the freeway there is a jerk in the car, the triangle warning light comes on that says pull over when safe, the engine shuts off, and we can no longer accelerate. We pull over, turn off the car, and then turn it back on.

Door handles braking on driver/passenger doors. Having difficult time rolling window up/down in driver's side. Checked online, and this appears to be a common problem.

Takata inflators : I picked up my 2010 Mercury Milan after being advised of the recall and was told my vehicle could not be driven I received a call today after 2 months stating my car was ready as I arrived to the dealership I returned the rental and tried to start my own car and could not the vehicle was jumped and I left dealer turned into traffic and could not accelerate as the car was seized up into 2nd gear the belts have possible dry rot brakes have corrosion from the car being stationary all the time waiting on parts. I returned to the dealer where I was told many cars are having numerous issues and they could not help me and I was then left to drive my unsafe vehicle home.

It's been pulling hard and jerking the car lot was supposed to fix it and never has I don't know what to do and it always smells like it's overheating.

Tl-takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact was calling to report that the air bag sensor lights illuminated a warning to remove all items in the front passenger seat travelling at 40 mph. The VIN tool found a recall for NHTSA campaign number 16v384 (frontal air bag) however the contact did not receive this notice. The dealer pensacola Ford 6397 pensacola blvd, pensacola, FL 32505 has been notified but no parts were available. The manufacturer was not notified. Failure mileage was 121000.

Nothing has happened yet , I'm just shocked to know that they haven't came up for a remedy for the airbag recall. If something happens to my daughter who drives this car everyday I don't know what I would do. My children are my life !.

The sensory restrain system (ae5z14b321a) went bad on a car that has sat for most of its life. I received the car from my grandma with around 8000 miles on it. This we bad with about 11900 miles. I researched this and found out this was a common part going bad. There was never recalls done because the part went bad with most people while under warranty. This one part and labor cost me almost 1000. 00. 1000. 00 for a part that was commonly breaking. But because it sat for so long the warranty ran out and I am left with a huge expense to a part that was commonly breaking. To what went wrong. The airbag light came on, wrench light, service advance trac light and traction control light came on. I am 6 months pregnant and have a 2 year old in my car and I got told that this caused all security features to be turned off. If I was to be in an accident my family and I would of not been protected. But this is a common part going bad but no one said anything because they went bad when everyone had warranty.

This is the 2nd time I am having issues with the throttle body. I brought the car in, in 2015 for the exact same problem. I'm driving along and the car starts hesitating then starts bucking like crazy and conks out. I start the car back up and it drives fine until the next time it does it again. This is very dangerous and almost recently got me in an accident. I was in the left hand turning lane of a very busy road crossing over 2 lanes & started to proceed as the car started hesitating, slowed down and conked out. I almost got hit by oncoming traffic. I called Ford today to find out if it was still a covered item and was told it was under the customer satisfaction program for a one time fix, which I already had. So now it's my responsibility to pay for the repair of a defective part?? this should have been a recall. The complaints are still rolling in on the Milan's and several other Ford vehicles.

Driver side door handle is broken and will not open from the inside of the car. I have to lower the window to reach out the window to reach the outside door door handle to open the door.

I was driving on 495 toward silver spring/georgia Ave. And the call just loss acceleration without warning. The engine and wrench lights illuminated on the dash. The car cruised at about 5 miles an hour. An extremely dangerous situation to say the least. I was in the middle lane and had to work my way over to the shoulder. I'm taking the car to the Ford dealership on 8/23/2016 for diagnosis. There appears to have been complaints reported to NHTSA about this problem and the case was closed without a recall. Let me tell you, this problem is not only real but extremely dangerous. Something more needs to be done.

"takata recall" on my way home from work white smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe then the check engine started flashing really fast then stopped. I made it as it as far as my street then the check power steering/ advanced tran warning flashed and as I turned in the driveway the power steering completely gave out and flashed service power steering now. I just purchased this car and I am making payments now I have to fix my power steering. Wow.

The door handle broke so that when seated in the vehicle, you are unable to get out. This part failure is on the drivers side door.

I drove down my driveway, turned left to pull into my garage. As I approached the door opening, turning, slowing, with my foot on the break and before straightening the wheel, it seemed like the car had a mind of its own. I could not stop it. My foot was firmly on the break pressing with all my strength. The car did not stop until it hit the side of the garage door opening.

While driving on a 4 lane highway, my car jerked and the wrench warning light can on and no acceleration while I pressed the gas pedal. I was able to get the car to coast to safety and when I stopped the car is was jerking back. I turned the car off for a few minutes and turned it back on, it started up and ran fine. This incident happened again today while driving in town, not once but twice while I was driving 15 mph and the 2nd incident today about 30 mph. Both of these times I was able to get off the road safely, and got the car to restart and make it home 45 miles away. I am afraid to drive my car, that in heavy traffic, this could cause a serious accident.

I purchased my 2010 Mercury Milan last year in July 2013. This weekend I started having an issue with a loud thumping sound coming from under the hood, on ignition, gear changing and acceleration. Took it to the dealer today and was informed that my subframe is completely broken. It was never welded, which I was also informed that it should have been. Meaning this was an issue before I purchased my vehicle. My engine has moved 2 inches forward, the technician moved my engine with his bare hand back and forward. Both of my front wheel axles are broken due to the pressure of the engine not being secured with this subframe. I'm not really great with car repairs knowledge, but even I know this is a major issue. I bought the extended warranty with my car during purchase and they won't pay for the repair. I was quoted $600 for parts and $624 for labor. Not including my wheel axles that have to be repaired due to this issue. I have contacted the bbb and the vp of the dealer, concerning this issue. The dealer was supposed to do a complete inspection of my vehicle and they did not. They say they stand by their inspections and guarantee. Not this time!! it's not fair for me to pay for this repair but if I don't, I won't have a vehicle to drive. Ford has to do something. This is their negligence and this issue could have caused a serious safety issue for me and my family. I will update this post as I find out more information from the dealership. If you are having this issue or had this issue, please join me, in filing a complaint. Someone could lose their life because Ford refuses to acknowledge this manufacturer issue. If anyone can offer any kind of advice as in where or who to contact please respond with the information.

Approximately 25% of the rear passenger-side brake lights on my car permanently went out when I first discovered this problem in July 2014. During the following month, additional led lights in the rear light assembly failed until, finally, none of them would light up. This was outrageous in that my car, bought brand new in August 2009 and consistently housed in a garage, was fewer than 5 years old and had yet to reach the 30,000-mile mark. A licensed pennsylvania car inspection station representative told me that my car would not pass its safety inspection unless the rear brake light assembly was replaced. Consequently, I was forced to do so; the bill came to $445 for its replacement. Because the light assembly consists of led lights, the entire assembly should have lasted for the life of the automobile, in my opinion. Obviously, this is a glaring safety defect since its malfunction alone results in a failure to pass an annual pennsylvania automobile safety inspection. Not to mention that its replacement cost is astonishing. I feel strongly that Ford motor company should address this situation since other Mercury Milan owners, as well as owners of its twins -- the Ford fusion and the Lincoln mkz -- have reported on this database nearly identical safety failures. Owners of these vehicles should be compensated for a safety problem that is repeatedly reported on this website. Ford certainly can no longer validly claim that it is unaware of this safety defect; it should issue a recall on its own and fix this design problem immediately.

The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14e028000 (equipment) however, the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time to provide the part. The contact had not experienced a failure.

While driving the car begins to loose power. Then the car looses the ability to control it and appears to not have any gas going to it. The wrench on the dash board appears and the power steering goes out. The car appears to not be getting any gas. I pulled over to the side of the road and stopped the car. After it sits for a few minutes it will start again. Sometimes it starts up and doesn't happen for awhile. Other times it will happen again in a few minutes. It can happen at any speed or at anytime. Extremely dangerous if it happened on an interstate highway.

While leaving work, vehicle rpm's dropped and car surged and nearly stalled out, pushing accelerator made no increase in power then "wrench" light illuminated on dash cluster, pulled off to side of road with brakes applied, and put car in neutral, rpm's low and fluctuating. Shut engine off. Started engine, no sign of "wrench" light, car made trip home, but rpm's fluctuated at stops, engine surging. Performed internet search, found NHTSA action number : pe13003 which contains very similar issues for other owners of 2010 Mercury Milan. The car suddenly jolted to a halt in an intersection and would not continue to move. Ford dealer stated it was a throttle body failure.

I have a problem with my car it is losing it speed when I am on the highway and when I am on a main street. Where this car is putting my life in danger plus other. I take my car to three place no one seen to know what wrong with it the sign con on when I have this problem it tell me to take it back to the dealer there is a problem. It has been on a machine 4 times and no one car that my life is being put in danger each person said we need the car to tell us what wrong. At this time I need my car to be put in a safety place so not one will get hurt. Please help me to get this issue solve. Thank you.

I was driving along on the highway and I felt my car stall a little, then my speed started slowing down automatically. The wrench symbol came on the dashboard so I pulled over and the car shut off. I was able to start the car and I started driving again but my car wouldn't let me go over 40 miles an hour so I pulled over again. I was only 5 miles from home so I was able to drive my car home. We took it to a Ford dealership and they ran tests on it and I was told the throttle body needed replaced. They said it was covered under my warranty however they didn't know when they could get the part for me because it was out of stock. I did my own research and found that there is a possible recall on the throttle body for my type of car. Waiting to get my car fixed.

My car has stopped numerous time in the middle of a busy expressway and has almost resulted in a accident. I had two small children in my vehicle at the the time, my car continues to stop many times and I attempted to get the problem solved but I cannot since there is a severe back order on Mercury Milan throttle body. Therefore I am forced to drive in unsafe conditions because of a mass problem that is obviously going on with Ford/Mercury vehicles.

Driving down busy by pass @ about 65 mph. Car started to stall out. Car behind me almost hit me from behind because of this. Had car checked out, it was the throttle body sensor. Something about not opening and/or closing properly. . . . . Had a diagnostics done: code p2111. . . . . .

When I press the accelerator the car stalls out, or goes "limp". This has happened several times. When I turn the car off and restart it the car runs fine for a minute. Took it to Ford they said it was the throttle body part.

I was driving with my infant in the car and it suddenly slowed to 20 mph in heavy traffic. Luckily I was able to get into a turn lane and then it died. I was very fortunate that the SUV behind me did not hit me. He slammed on his brakes and laid on his horn. Very scary. The dealership says it is the throttle body, which is on national back-order and they do not know when it can be fixed. They have 5 others right now with the same issue.

I purchased my 2010 Mercury Milan used on August 30, 2012 with 987 miles. Approximately in June, 2013 the car's right rear tail lamp went completely out and I had a new tail lamp installed for $408 + labor. In November, 2013 the car's left rear tail lamp went completely and and I had a new tail lamp installed for $408 + labor. Now, March 6, 2015 the right rear tail lamp has gone out and I cannot afford to keep on paying these expenses when I now know that this is a Ford problem and due to poor engineering of the light assembly and because it has not been re-engineered to correct the problem, this will be a recurring problem for the life of the car. I run the chance of being stopped by the police for an unsafe vehicle.

This has happened to me so many times and I really don't deserve to have to come out of pocket and pay for this. My car is still under a power train warranty bug seems they do not cover a throttle body replacement. I was driving up I -20 going at least 75 mph and the car looses all acceleration and as I pull over it starts to shake , so I cut it off and crank if up again and it drives perfect until it decides to do it again. Dealership told me it would cost 500. 44 to replace the throttle body and Milan's are having this issue. I'm so disappointed in Ford. Recall recall recall before someone gets hurt or die. We need to start a class a law suit.

The first incident occured when I was driving down the road with the cruise control at about 60 mph and the car would jerk and then would loose power and the check engine and the wrench light came on. The car would be in idle mode and I would have to stop and turn the car off and wait a few minutes before I try to start it again. The second is incident was basically the same only at a different location. The third I was in town going about 40 mph when the car jerked again and went into idle mode. The next few time that it happend I had a very hard time getting it started and moving again. Once I did get it started I would only be able to go a couple of blocks before the car would jerk and go into idle mode. I was lucky to get it to the Ford dealer without having to have it towed.
