36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2013

When I was driving to work on Sunday, I was going 70 on the interstate (I had my car set on cruise control). Out of nowhere, the wrench light turned on, my car made a very loud noise, and I was unable to accelerate my car. I had to pull over at an exit, and when I came to a complete stop, my car was shaking profusely. I turned my car off, and when I tried to start it, it took it several seconds to actually start. I figured it was just a glitch, so I didn't worry about it. Two days later, I was driving down another road going 45 mph, and I was driving up a hill (my foot was on the accelerator). The same thing happened again. So I took my car to a Ford dealer, and they determined that the throttle body needed to be replaced. Then, they informed me that the specific throttle body that I needed was back-ordered for 6 weeks (isn't that a sign that there needs to be a recall??), and that I would have to continue to drive my car like this until the end of July. After researching the issue, I found that over 27,000 throttle bodies have been replaced (foxnews. Com), and that there are many other issues that have come up with my car. I don't feel safe when I am driving, especially because the throttle body "dies" (if that's what the technical term is) without any warning.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

I was driving my car with three children in the backseat at 65 miles per hour. When the car goes into limp mode while crossing a highway with on coming traffic. This could of killed my kids and myself and possibly someone else. This is the worst car I have ever bought. Very upset.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2013

I had stopped at lights and after accelerating up to apprx 45mph the car beome unresponsive when pushing on gas. My first thought was my transmission had went out. I coast over to the shoulder and then the car begin to vibrate and run rough so I shut car down. The "wrench " light came on. I had car towed in and after 3 days and the dealership talking to Ford it was decided it was going into the "limp" mode. The fix was a new throttle body. The throttle body part was backed ordered. Per the dealership there was a change on the throttle boby part due to issues and was back ordered. Parts took about 2 weeks to get and car was repaired and I have been driving for 2 weeks with no issue. I do understand that the car has 80000 miles on it but I seen on the internet where the circuit board and this throttle body had been a on going complaint.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2013

Car lost power . Pulled over to side of express way. Turned off engine, waited a couple of minutes. Then restarted engine. Car ran ok.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2013

While driving on the highway, my car stopped accelerating and the rpms did not budge even when I stepped on the gas. A few seconds later the front end of my car (which I am assuming was the engine) began sputtering. A service light also appeared which is the one that is shaped like a double-sided wrench. I pulled off of the road and turned off the engine. I turned the engine back on a few minutes later and it started without any problems. I took my car into a Ford dealership an hour after and they could not find anything wrong. They plugged in the computer and it did not detect any issues. I asked them to pop the hood to see if they could notice any obvious discrepancies but they refused to. They stated that they could not do anything for me because the problem was not currently happening.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2013

Stopped at a light making a right hand turn. Proceeded out into traffic and car would not speed up, then made a jerking movement like it was stuck in gear. Almost rear-ended. Took it to dealer where I have an extended warranty said they could not find anything wrong. When driving tires always seem like it is always rocking from side to side. Tires were rotated during regular maintenance and balanced but nothing seem to help what do I do. I like the car but would like to live to.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2012

The vehicle (which only has 30,000 miles on it) will stall at any speed without notice. There is no throttle response and engine idles rough with black smokey emissions. This condition has happened several instances, the worst case being with my wife and child trying to accelerate into traffic and suddenly experiencing a stall/no throttle situation half way into the intersection. The stalling has consistantly been remedied by cycling the ignition off and then on again, then its just a matter of 20 to 200 miles and it happens again. The dealer has failed to diagnose the problem and states Ford/Mercury has no knowledge of a problem. The wrench light illuminates only while problem exists, it does not store a code or remain lit. The dealer has worked closely with us but is at a loss as to what the problem is. This problem needs to be addressed before my family or someone elses gets hurt or worse killed.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2012

#1:shortly after purchasing the Milan the car began to just shut down while I was driving. I would have to coast to the side of the road, wait a few minutes & then it would restart. I again had it taken to the service center and they had to replace the throttle body. Now I am having this same problem again. This problem has began again. I again took it to the service center & they couldn't fix anything because they said that they couldn't get the car to mimic the problem. I have 2 young children and during one of the failures I was traveling on a rural country road with nowhere to pull off due to stone mountains on each side of the road. I had to wait in the middle of the road a few minutes until the car would cooperate and start again. This a serious safety issue. We all could've been killed and nobody would ever be able to figure out what happened because according to these technicians the car is fine. It needs to be known that the car is not fine and is dangerous to the drivers and other individuals on the road alongside these cars. #2:also, shortly after purchasing the Milan I was having trouble getting it started in the morning. The car would simply not start, wouldn't even try to turn over, the message board would say service advance trac the other electrical components in the car worked fine, the car couldn't be "jumped" either. After a few hours it would start up fine. Took the car to the service center and they reprogrammed the keys and now a year later I am having the same problem. Since the center states they cannot get the car to mimic this problem when the car is at the center they haven't fixed anything. At least once a week I have this happen and have to use an alternate means of transportation. My car now has 38,000 miles on it but these problems have been happening since about 24000. Help Ford adopt some of the aspects of "our credo values" by j&j!.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2012

Vehicle loses power at high speed while driving on highways. This problem has occurred 3 times and is a very dangerous situation. Fortunately no accidents have happened. Lincoln replaced a part but the incident has happened several times again since part was replaced. Lose power/stall out at high speed driving on highways.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2010

I have a 2010 Mercury Milan this car has been in the shop many times the transmission was slipping it has left me in the middle of an intersection and the last straw was 3 weeks ago when the transmission kicked in when I was turning it popped my neck and I hit a curb. I do not feel safe in the car. One time the gas pedal stuck and I had to reach down and pull out my floor mat. Also trim parts just fall off of this thing.
