Interior door handle will not open vehicle on driver's side door making it impossible to exit vehicle without crawling over console and exiting from passenger seat or opening window to access exterior door handle. This is a safety issue. As the same thing happened to my husband's Ford fusion 2010 hybrid (which cost over $200 to repair at the dealership), I believe there is an issue with the manufacture/design/integrity of parts in these vehicles. In addition, there are numerous complaints on the internet Ford/Mercury forums citing the same problem.

The passenger side door stopped locking, now the drivers side door stopped locking this morning when I brought it to the mechanic. Also the door handle inside on the drivers side has now failed.
The plastic interior door handles broke without even touching them. Both front handles broke within a week of each other. I didn't know the front passenger side was broken until my wife asked me to get out of the car to let her out on her side. And then approximately a week later the driver's side interior handle broke also. Now neither door can be opened from the inside. The window needs to be rolled down and the outside handle needs to be used. When we bought the car (used) the rear driver's side interior handle plastic was broken and we knew this. Even broken you can still use it to open the rear door. I was in the drivers seat when the driver's interior handle broke. I was parked, and I heard a click before I tried opening my door from the inside and the door would not open. There is definitely a big problem with these cheap plastic door handles that Ford motor company needs to address. Three out of four interior handles are broken. It is truly a safety issue if you cannot exit your car using the interior door handles. ## VIN passed ## Mercury Milan 2006 ##.

Passenger inside door handle broke and needed to be replaced. Cd player broke and I am the only one who uses the car. The emissions light came on and a faulty thermostat needed to be replaced. . . . All to the tune of hundreds of dollars. I purchased the extra protection insurance but of course none of this was covered. Never would buy a Mercury again.
The passenger side front door flew open while driving. The door was in locked position and opened while going around a curve in the road. Passenger was wearing seatbelt so no injury occurred. Attempts were made to close door, however it opened under slightest of pressure, even when locked. Door was tied closed with rope and taken to dealership for repair. The latch assembly on the door was found to be broken and replaced.
