36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 03/24/2014

After I replaced the original battery, I started the engine. I was unable to accelerate above 750 r. P. M. Which is the approximate idle speed of the car. While in gear, I was unable to move forward or back due to lack of power. I had the car towed to the nearest Ford dealer in chandler, az. They diagnosed the problem as failure of the throttle body. After replacement, the car is operating normal, although it has only been four days since the service was performed. I do not trust it anymore.

37 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 03/20/2014

The failure of the throttle body fortunately occurred in the driveway of a vacation home in chandler, arizona. I was able to have the car towed to the nearest Ford dealership where the part was replaced. I hate to think what could have happened if we were in a traffic situation when the failure took place. Even though the engine will still run at an idle, the accelerator will not respond enough to move the vehicle forward or backward. Ford needs to recognize the failure of this part as a life threatening matter and issue a recall of all models affected.

38 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 03/08/2014

Throttle body failed without warning. Car immediately lost power and had no accelerator response and would only idle. This would have been dangerous had the vehicle not been in an area where it was immediately safe to pull over. Throttle body was changed, the second time it's happened to this vehicle.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 01/23/2014

While traveling at 55mph my vehicle stalled, lost all power and came to a stop at the side of the road. It was restarted several times each time with the wrench symbol illuminated. Was only able to drive home at 45mph and the car bucked and stalled two times. Will be calling Ford for repair. Luckily I signed up for the extended service plan when I purchased this vehicle as a certified pre owned car at the dealership. This is obviously a throttle body issue which I will be explaining to the tech's when I bring it in for repair. And more importantly, this is a major safety issue for the occupants of this car and other cars involved if an accident were to occur.

40 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 01/22/2014

2007 Mercury Milan came to a complete stop on a 2 lane highway, at a speed of approximately 55 mph in the left hand lane with heavy traffic, no indication of problem to try and even pull over. Towed to garage, was unable to fix. They towed it to a Ford dealership, coils, spark plugs, throttle body and pcm replaced, still would not run. Towed back to original garage. Did a smoke test on catalytic converter and stated 1 has to be replaced (will not pass inspection) but because of the number of "misfires" they strongly recommend replacing all three. After some searching I have found that this is a problem that Ford has not only known about, but stated that they were cooperating fully with the government, however , there was never a recall. I have placed a complaint with NHTSA. I requested a quote to trade the car in, but because of it's present situation they offered me $3400. 00, kelly blue book value is $7000. 00, I still owe $3700. 00 on this vehicle, still have to have catalytic converters replaced and just hope that it runs, and do not even at this time know the amount of repairs this far. I contacted Ford headquarter and they response was first to have it towed again to the Ford dealer. But when I questioned why I would need to pay yet another towing fee, she abruptly stated . "there is nothing we can do because you didn't have it initially diagnosed by Ford. This car poses a potential life and death situation for the consumer.

41 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 01/20/2014

The owner of this car is not getting any notices of recalls. I haven't owned this car since first quarter of 2014. Please notify Ford that they need to find out who owns this car now. Note: I leased this car from bloomington, mn Lincoln in oct. 2010.

42 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 01/20/2014

While pulling out of a parking lot into the street, the electronic throttle body failed, putting the car into a "safe mode" with extremely limited power. Was able to use reverse to move car back into parking lot. I know that this exact issue (loss of power due to electronic throttle body failure) has caused a recall for some Ford and Mercury models, including the Milan, but it does not yet include my car's model year. From my experience, the recall should be expanded.

43 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 01/11/2014

Driving thru town at approx 30 mph the vehicles warning lights flashed for check engine and the throttle control warning (wrench) illuminated. The vehicle would not respond to any activation of the gas peddle and drifted to idle power. Not understanding what went wrong, I shut the car down and restarted it to clear the faults. I re-enetered traffic and proceeded about 50 ft before it happened again. I proceeded to follow the same reset process and was able to limp the car home. The car was towed away and repaired by replacing the electronic throttle body. Research shows that since 2004 Ford has known that this problem exists and that the engine design default is to bring the car down to idle power. Internet chat boards have stories of this happening on highways at high rates of speed. Ford claims there is no recall because the government (you guys) have not required them to do so despite the failure mode, and public safety implications, being exactly the same as NHTSA action number pe13031. Ford fixed the problem recently but did not scrap old defective inventory and refuses to fix those suspect parts on our roads. They have calculated the costs and choose to risk public safety instead of a recall.

44 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 11/23/2013

I was driving on the highway, on my way home when my car seemed liked it stalled. The wrench image on the dash board appeared, and I coasted my car off of the highway because I was coming up to an exit. Once my car slowed down to about 10-15 mph the car seemed like it was actually jumping, or bucking and trying to drive at a very slow pace. I pulled the car over to the side of the road, and shut the care off. I restarted the car, and the samething happened with the motor running rough, and the image of the wrench on my dash appearing. I shut the car off again, and let it sit for a couple of minutes, and restarted the car while holding the throttle down, and the car seemed to function fine after that. This also happened the next day on my way to work same exact scenario just a different place on the highway.

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 11/15/2013

Twice while travelling at low speed, it dropped into what appeared to be a limp home mode. A restart returned the vehicle to somewhat normal operation, but it seemed to be running just ever so slightly, rough.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 11/14/2013

Sudden loss of acceleration or ability to drive. Immediate display of icon showing mechanical problem. Towed to dealer, where throttle body failure was diagnosed. This incident occurred on a treacherous stretch of I-40 entering north carolina, where shoulder is very narrow, and we barely escaped injury and/or death.

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 11/08/2013

Driving down the highway through town and vehicle died multiple times in the middle of the street causing me to narrowly avoid an accident with my three small children in the car. Upon further inspection of the throttle body assembly, I discovered that the problem is a $20. 00-$60. 00 electric motor that Ford uses to run the throttle body the throttle body is not strong enough to do the job for a very long period of time causing the throttle body to go out at around 50000 - 60000 miles. I was a mechanic for Ford for 7 years before joining the army and have seen this issue with this exact model throttle body plenty of times. Ford could easily sell the replacement electric motor for the price listed above, but instead they prefer to price gouge their customers by forcing them to pay over $200. 00 for the whole new throttle body assembly. Also according to our local Ford parts dealer it is such a common part that needs replaced that the keep 3-4 on hand at all times.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 10/30/2013

Driving on a straight away the vehicle suddenly makes a noise as if it were shifting very hard although it was not. Immediately lost acceleration and dashboard light illuminates. Pulled vehicle to the side of the road and rpm needle bounced as car lunged but would not accelerate. Called for roadside assistance and my dealer's service department who knew based on my description a possible cause. Vehicle towed to dealer, diagnostics proved throttle body needed to be replaced. Repair made. Research proved that this is a known problem but no recall has been made. It was a very foggy morning and several multi car accidents had been reported. Had I been on busier stretch of road at the time of the break down I could have easily been killed with slowing down suddenly and without any evident cause. A recall should be issued and refunds made to those who have already experienced this failure.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 10/11/2013

While driving on a freeway (middle lane) at ~ 50 mph the "wrench" light cane on and the vehicle slowed to 20mph. Very unsafe.

50 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 10/03/2013

Driving freeway at 77 mph when vehicle suddenly started slowing down. Managed to get car over to shoulder of road and tried to get off ramp but wouldn't make it. No lights came on and felt like it was still running at idle. Stepped on gas but wouldn't accelerate in drive or park. Shut vehicle off and started twice before I could get response from stepping on gas. Then took off like nothing wrong. Very dangerous and lucky traffic was light. Had one other incident with car doing same thing but was sitting at traffic light.

51 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 10/03/2013

On 10/3/13 while driving home in heavy traffic on the interstate my 2011 Milan with 44,000 miles on it sputtered and died at freeway speed. Still had electrical power and the wrench warning light on the dash was lit up. I was able to coast to the shoulder and stop the vehicle. Once restarted the car went three days before again dying on the interstate in heavy traffic, after doing some research I discovered this was a common problem with Ford throttle bodies on several makes and models. 10/12/13 I purchased a new throttle body from my local Ford dealer and installed it the same day. I test drove the vehicle and it appears that the new throttle body fixed the issue and also another symptom I had been noticing, it was a very slight hesitation in the transmission in all gears.

52 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/26/2013

While driving down the highway experienced a total loss of acceleration. Car still maintained an idle but no matter how many times I pressed the pedal to the floor it would not recognize me doing so. (kind of like and older vehicle with a cable just breaking). Fortunately it did not effect steering or braking but it was quite challenging to get to the side of the road. If I shut of vehicle and restarted gas pedal works fine again. I immediately contacted a master Ford tech that I know personally and he informed me that more than likely it was the electronic throttle body that there has been many complaints and replacements done on that particular engine recently in their shop. Due to the lack of funds I continued driving the vehicle and have experienced the same problem a minimum of 8 times in 3 weeks. I no longer will allow my wife to drive car until I can repair.

53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/24/2013

My 2010 Mercury Milan premier stalled - check engine came on - I was unable to move forward as it seemed it was trying to move forward but would not - had the code checked and it was p2112 - throttle actuator-control system - stuck closed permanent was the message for this code - was not expecting this at all - was driving perfect and this happened suddenly - my concern is had this happened on an interstate highway - what would I have done? from what I read this is very dangerous - and is there a recall for this safety concern?.

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/21/2013

Driving car when it lost all power. When stepping on the gas nothing happened, no speed or rpm increase. Was able to pull over to side of road. Yellow wrench light came on. Car when driveable would jerk like not getting enough gas. I had to pay $430 to have this replaced. This seems to be a known defect for this car and year. I had the extended warranty on my car but was told by the mechanic that this part was specifically excluded. Evidently they knew this part had a problem so they didn't cover it. Could have had a very bad accident if this had happened in rush hour traffic.

55 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/20/2013

Stop at red light and the car refuse to accelerate. Had to coast to the side of the road. When car is cut off and turn back on it will run for a little while and does the same thing again. Kids in the car on the side of the road. When I first got the car the transmission went out, had it less than 2 wks. Now this is happening, cost over 600. 00 dollars for something that is manufactured screw up. I need my car to get kids to school and work. All these complaints about the same problem needs a recall very quick before someone gets into an accident.

56 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/19/2013

I made a left turn from a complete sign. In the middle of the intersection, the car decelerated and the wrench symbol on the dash came on. As I pulled over, the car started shaking and cut off. I had my children get out of the car because I was unsure of what was going on. I turned the car off, took the key from the ignition. I waited about 5 minutes and then restarted the car. I started and everything was ok. On 9/25/13, this happened while I was driving on a straight road. 9/28/13 - it happened while driving 65 mph on the interstate. 9/30/13 - after filling the car with gas, on a major road. 10/1/13 - just driving. 10/8 - making a left turn . There is not a warning before it happens.

57 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/18/2013

Intermittent problem which occurred at variable speeds (25 mph, 40 mph, 60 mph) with rapidly increasing frequency in the week before the throttle body was replaced. While driving, the engine seemed to shift out of gear. However, there was no increase in rpm in response to the accelerator. Pulled to side of road with very low rpm, the vehicle was turned off and then restarted each time without problem.

58 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/14/2013

Car lost power while driving. Yellow wrench light came on and car continued to idle roughly. Shutting car of and restarting would reset everything, but if continue to drive the same thing happened. No speed or rpm increase happened when stepping on the gas. Had to tow car to Ford dealer as I couldn't drive it. Mechanic stated throttle body had gone bad and had to be replaced. They never told me that Ford was having an issue with this part. Cost me $460 to have this replaced. Low mileage and newer car this should not have happened. Could have had a terrible accident if I had been driving down the free way at rush hour as I live in a metropolitan area.

59 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/14/2013

At dusk on Saturday september14,2013 traveling north bound on 6 lane interstate I-55 in far left lane at 67 mph with cruise control on the car began to slow rpm returned to idling speed under 800 rpm and was unresponsive to accelerator pressure. The traffic was heavy and I was lucky to be able to move across lanes and reach the shoulder before car had slowed to 5 mph. The wrench light came on. Shut off the car restarted it and accelerator was responsive began to accelerate to merge back on to highway and again lost power. Shut off car again and accelerating very slowly was able to reach an exit about 1 mile away before car again lost power. Called for a tow back home as vehicle was unsafe. Car taken to dealership September 16th for repair and the throttle body needed to be replaced. I learned on line that this seems to be a common problem with certain Ford and Mercury products but there has been no recall to fix this defective part which puts the driver and passenger in grave danger when the throttle body malfunctions . Luckily I was in a fairly populated area and cell phone service was available. I fear what could have happened if traffic had been even heavier or been in a more remote area. These products should be recalled as they present a serious safety issues for drivers.

60 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/13/2013

Driving 2 weeks ago, going 45 mph and the accelerator stopped working. Engine was running and I could still safely pull it over to the side of the road. I turned the vehicle off and then back on and it worked again. Since there were many areas of non-safe roads to pull over, I decided to have it towed home. It has driven fine ever since, until today, going 55mph, on the interstate, accelerator stops working. I safely pulled over, turned off and restarted engine. I safely drove to my nearest Ford dealership where they say it is the throttle sensor. Why is this not eligible for recall yet as I read these many, many pages of posts on the same thing? I have to wait until November for the part as it is on backorder. No safe car to drive until then.

61 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/13/2013

Driving at highway speeds vehicle stalls out without warning. When attempting restart engine light and "orange wrench" light turn on. Vehicle does eventually restart.

62 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/12/2013

Car suddenly stalled in intersection with cross lane traffic and on mass transit trolley track. Move to other side of intersection and restarted fine, then stalled again on highway multiple times. Pulled vehicle over each time and it restarted, yet stalled again after a short amount of time. Check engine light was on steady (non-blinking). Had vehicle towed to Ford dealership would indicated the throttle body was bad and must be replaced.

63 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/10/2013

I was driving on the northway preparing to get in the right lane to exit and I lost all speed, no acceleration was possible but I still had radio/a/c, etc. I was able to get over and stop the car and when I put it in park it "sputtered" until I shut the engine off entirely. I waited a few moments and turned the engine back on and it started fine and then drove fine the rest of my drive. When I got back to work I researched this problem online and was surprised at the number of complaints for the same issue. Everyone had taken their car to a dealership or mechanic and could not figure it out. No warning lights came on in the dash. Finally after reading so many of the same complaints one car owner stated that a diagnosis resulted in code p2111 (faulty throttle body). I'm concerned about driving this car and having it happen again. I drive on a fast 3 lane highway about 20 miles each way to work and it's not always very easy to get over to safety. After seeing this has been investigated in another state I am hopeful it results in a recall so this problem can be properly addressed and fixed. Please help!.

64 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/08/2013

This has happened to me many times over the last month at least 12 times. This occurs at various speeds, the car will stall or nearly stall. I am unable to acceleralte. I have to coast to a safe location turn the key off put the car in park and restart the car. Luckly the car has restared everytime. The wrench warning light comes on after the near stall, but goes off after I restart the car. When I come to the stop the engine seems to be trying to run but has no power and the idle is very rough. I went to the dealer and they said it sounds like the throttle body. This seems to be a know problem but I don't see a recall on it? when it goes into the near stall I have no acceleration and puts me in a very dangerous position as I try to jockey to a safe location with no power.

65 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

The car loses power while driving, the wrench light comes on and then I have to pull over to the side of the road, it has also happened on the highway which is scary? also the car sometimes has an idle problem, like its trying not to stall, but causes the car to jump a little while at stop lights. Also when I get gas, the car does not want to start, but if I leave the car running while getting gas the car is fine.

66 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 08/31/2013

Traveling to work on ih35n in san antonio when all of a sudden I lose all power and the car seems to stall, I turn on my hazards and make my way to the shoulder while praying the other traffic moving at speed doesn't plow into me. Once on the side of the road the car is shuddering and surging forward, restarted the car and everything seemed fine, not even a "check engine" light. Same day on the way home from work (ih35s near hwy 281 interchange) and the engine stalls again, at speed on the interstate but even worse now because of the increased traffic that needs to be dodged while I get the car onto a raised shoulder. Restart the car and this time a "cel" I drive to autozone for a code check and it's p2111 stuck throttle body. Sunday night car starts stalling every 50-100 feet on a frontage road of ih10 near callaghan while cresting a hill and no clear sight lines, luckily I was not rear ended. Managed to nurse it, surging forward suddenly and sputtering to a creep, into a la quinta hotel parking lot and await a tow.

67 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 08/27/2013

Driving to work one morning my car appeared to stall without warning on the incline of a viaduct. It slowed dramatically without me braking, so there were no brake lights to warn other drivers. I was fortunate the driver behind me was paying attention and did not run into me. I made an emergency maneuver to get off the road, and called aaa for a tow. While on hold with aaa, I restarted my car. It appeared to be working normally, so I went to work without incident. Later in the day my car seemed to stall again on the way to lunch. This was in a remote area with no other traffic. Again it restarted, and worked fine on my return to work. While driving home it happened a third time in a construction zone. I had to pull over near huge rollers that were leveling newly laid asphalt. Luckily it started again and I merged back into construction traffic and drove home. I called the Ford dealer I bought the car from. They told me over the phone it sounded like another bad throttle body. I got a ride to work the next day, and took it in as soon as I could get an appointment. The Ford dealer replaced the throttle body, and I have had no problems since.

68 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 08/27/2013

I was driving on the interstate at 72 miles per hour in my 2010 Mercury Milan when the car lost all power. I was able to coast to the shoulder without interfering with other traffic. It was very frightening and I was very fortunate that traffic was not close and I was able to manuever off the road safely. Since this first episode my Mercury Milan has done this another 3 times.

69 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 08/26/2013

Driving at highway speed, I lost the ability to use the throttle. The engine ran, but did not respond to the pedal. I was forced to pull the car over, in traffic, and restart the car. Once the car was restarted, I was able to accelerate.

70 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 08/21/2013

When trying to accelerate my car chugs and feels as if it wants to stall. I have to accelerate at a very very slow pace.
