1 Brake Light problem of the 1997 Mercury Mystique

Failure Date: 10/01/2006

: the contact stated while traveling various speeds, the overdrive activated on and off. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop, where a certified mechanic determined that either the inside or outside sensor of the automatic transmission was faulty. There was a NHTSA recall #98v233000, regarding the powertrain: automatic transmission: lever and linkage: floor shift. The manufacturer was contacted and determined that the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN. Also, the clock light on the insrument panel went permanently out. The rear brake light located on top of the rear window would illuminate in a distorted pattern. The rear brake lights was made up of 9 Mini lights, and 3 lights would light up while braking. On other occasions, 4 or 5 lights would illuminate. There was a NHTSA recall #99v103000 regarding exterior lighting: headlights: switch. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN.

2 Brake Light problem of the 1996 Mercury Mystique

Failure Date: 01/23/2002

Brake lights are not working at all. They will not illuminate when coming to a stop. Contacted dealer and dealer has tried twice to remedy the situation, but with no success.

3 Brake Light problem of the 1998 Mercury Mystique

Failure Date: 12/17/2001

Head lights go out when driving, and there are no brake lights. Also, passenger's side seatback will not stay up. Consumer feels this is unsafe. Please provide any further information.

4 Brake Light problem of the 1996 Mercury Mystique

Failure Date: 10/15/2000

My heater control knob for high,med,low only work in the low position. My rear brake light had a leak,allowing water to fill up and blow my light bulbs. There is a ticking noise in my dash as if my turn signals is running, but no flash on the indicators. When I signal to take turns it works fine but when not turning still makes clicking noise. Transmission went out in October 2000, I heard this is a common problem in my vehical. . Thank you for your time.
