Now at 70,000 miles the problem re-occurs. This is a safety problem because the vehicle can jump forward and hita car or person in front. Brakes are required to be applied at the same time the accelerator is pushed to prevent the vehicle from jumping forward.

I took the vehicle to alexander Ford in boaz, al. They said it was the throttle assembly, and would cost a lot of money to fix. The Nissan dealership said that they had experienced many instances of the same type of problem. They also said that to their knowledge a throttle assembly does not exist. A relative who works on cars cleaned the "butterfly" and this temporarily corrected the problem.

The accelerator kept sticking to the point that upon taking off the tires squealed. Consumer took the vehicle to dealer for service, and the dealer stated nothing was wrong. The consumer was afraid to drive the vehicle.

When tapping hard there is the possibility of hitting another car. As far as I am concerned this is a danger. I notice that many people have complained about this same issue. I cannot understand why Ford motor is not coming up with a solution or covering the cost on this issue?.

2000 Mercury Villager has experienced problems multiple times with the accelerator pedal sticking. We have only had the vehicle approximately 1 year and this has happened in excess of 100 times. We have taken the vehicle into the shop and they have not been able to correct the problem. Consumer anticipated this condition may cause a vehicle crash. The vehicle has been to two separate dealers, and they were unable to duplicate the problem.

Bought used 1998 Mercury Villager in June, 2004. From June through present date, we have had accelerator pedal sticking in upright position causing lurching from a stopped position due to having to press down unusually hard to accelerate. Due to this "failure", I do not want to crash into someone in front of me in traffic to move forward into traffic from a stopped or slowed position. I have sprayed wd40 on the pedal from inside the vehicle that relieved the problem for a little while, but it has started sticking again.

We own a '1999 Mercury Villager van. The brakes have had extensive repairs twice ,and now must be replaced again after only 13,000 miles. Secondly, the accelerator sticks. It has been repaired once and requires repair again. (first time under warranty. This time at a cost of approx. $460. ) the repairmen at the dealership claim the device used to prevent sludge from accumulating on the accelerator line tends to warp due to heat exposure allowing sludge to accumulate on the line and causing the accelerator to stick. It was first repaired at 35,000 miles and now requires a second repair at 73,000 miles.

Accelerator pedal sticks when accelerating from a stop, then, when it is freed, the van accelerates rapidly causing the van to lurch forward. This is dangerous for two reasons. One, when maneuvering in tight parking like situations, the van will lurch forward unexpectedly, and two, when pulling out into traffic there is a hesitation that could cause and accident if the response time between pushing the accelerator pedal and the time the van actually starts moving.

The problem has now become much worse and I was told that the throttle body will have to be replaced at a cost of $420. 00. I saw from the customer complaints on this website that this is a common complaint from Mercury Villager owners & Nissan quest owners (the same van as a Villager). I have asked people at random that I've seen driving villiagers and many of them say they have the same problem. I don't understand why this isn't being fixed as a recall since it is clearly a safety hazard to have a stuck accelerator, and it appears to be a common problem for the Mercury Villager & Nissan quest.

The consumer has experienced the following: rear wiper hangs-won't clear the glass(to open rear hatch glass)-motor inoperative, accelerator sticks-has to keep tapping it to loosen, the rear bench seat recliner will let go and seat will collapse, the left handle is loose, and the rear seat latch is binding/collapsing.
