Accelerator pedal began to stick after stopping. It took a good push to get the engine to respond, resulting in jerky starts and some tire burning.
Accelerator pedal would stick intermittently. Dealer notified, and was unable to duplicate the problem. Feel free to provide any further information concerning this matter.
After coming to a stop at stop light accelerator pedal was stuck. Engine revved, and vehicle bumped into the one in front. Vehicle has accelerated like this twice. Dealer could not determine what caused this.

When you push on the accelerator somtimes it sticks and like something is blocking it. When it unsticks the added preasure causes the van to shoot forward and you could rear end another vehicle or loose control around a corner. I report this and the dealership did not care because they were to busy tio get to it the day I took the vehicle in.

Accelerator pedal sticks. Had the throttle assembley replaced in 2001 and now it's doing the same thing again.
Accelerator pedal sticks when vehicle is stopped. Requires excessive force to depress pedal, resulting in vehicle suddenly lurching forward. Dealer says this is common problem with Villagers. I feel this is a serious safety issue.

While traveling noticed gas pedal to floor board stuck,consumer depressed it with force to release gas pedal. Dealer stated problem was with the throttle body, that it needed cleaned and lubricated.
Accelerator pedal sticks, at any speed. Consumer has to press pedal hard to get it to unstuck, problem getting worse. Dealer said throttle body needs to be replaced.
Accelerator sticks in an unpredictable manner that can cause the vehicle to lurch forward. The vehcile is especially difficult to control in wet or icy conditions. It appears I will need to have the throttle body cleaned. This vehicle has the same engine and drive train as the Nissan quest which had a recall for this repair. The dealer was contacted (they sell both Nissan & Mercury vehicles) and he indicated the recall was only for the quest.
: the contact stated the accelerator pedal stuck when depressed, and when it unstuck, the added pressure caused the van to lurch forward. There were no warnings prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the service dealer, who determined there was not enough lubricant on the accelerator parts. The problem persisted after visiting the service dealer. Updated 12/5/2006 - this has been a problem since the vehicle was purchased new.
After taking vehicle for a tune up found accelerator pedal was sticking. Then, took vehicle back for same problem, but dealer could not be responsible for it, and said what eas causing problem was throttle box pedal sticking.
The air conditioning compressor failed. My mechanic indicates that this is a chronic problem with Mercury Villager vans. The accelerator sticks intermittently when trying to accelerate from a stand still, causing a need to press the accelerator harder which causes a jerking of the van.
Accelerator pedal will stick in closed position and not accelerate, dealership has repaired this problem one year ago under warranty and problem has reoccurred, dealer informed consumer that this was a common complaint, consumer is concerned that she may rear end someone.
Put the car in reverse to back up and then we put the car in drive and the car took off and hit a wall, the accelerator was stuck.
