36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 12/29/2014

My fuel rail was sipping with gasoline. When I brought my car to a Mini dealer, they claimed that it was a wear and tear problem and refused to acknowledged that it was a design flaw. The fuel rail was plastic and the leak was at the seal between the plastic parts. If the fuel rail is metal and is soldered, this problem would not have happened. Having a fuel rail that leaks could severely damage the engine and cause a fire.

37 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 11/23/2014

The fuel line ruptured when driving my car under normal conditions. The car started to smell strongly of gasoline, so I had it towed to the dealer rather than re starting the car. Apparently, this is a common issue in Mini Coopers due to a poor design per the authorized mechanic. The fuel line sits next to a heater line, and a combination of rubbing and heat caused the fuel line to rupture. Mini is aware of this problem as they have changed the fuel line design to now have a protective sleeve that prevents abration and protects the fuel from heat. Not only did this repair cost me $500, but it seems like a major safety concern. Why has this not been a recall for Mini? I am very concerned as a consumer.

38 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

Loud rattling noise when accelerating coming from the engine. When I come to a complete stop car has turned off, sometimes it cranks for a bit to start up. Also while driving losses power and car decelerates slows down and also pulls like if was out of gas. White smoke when you press on gas.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 06/25/2013

The fuel line leading to the injector rail was damaged by the heater hose support bracket. The abrasive edges of this plastic bracket rubbed a hole in the high pressure reinforced rubber hose and created a fuel leak in the engine compartment. This was discovered after the car was parked in the garage and gasoline fumes were very strong after exiting the car. I read up on the internet and discovered another similar case, and I traced mine to the bracket as the problem. . Read more...

40 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 10/29/2012

While driving I noticed the smell of gasoline that became increasingly stronger. After I arrived home I began looking for the source of the gasoline smell. What I found was the high pressure fuel line that supplies fuel to the injector rail was leaking. The way the hose was routed on the back of the engine, allowed the hose to rest on a retaining clip for another hose. The retaining clip had worn a groove into the high pressure line and gasoline was spraying across the back of the engine and down onto the engine exhaust.
