Passenger side seat airbag sensor (recall 15v-205, oc3 seat occupancy mat) in my 2006 Mini Cooper S Convertible has failed. The passenger side airbag light on dash and overhead stay lit at all times. Recall issued by Mini in 2015 covering exact problem described for same make and model for years 2005 - 2008. Dealer ship and Mini USA both say the VIN number for my 2006 s convertible is not included with this recall. How can this be, the exact problem for the exact vehicles identified for this recall. Mini states that this vehicle is the correct type, model and year but not part of the recall because it probably didn't have the same part that has been identified as failing installed. I was told there is nothing they will do for me and what I've been told is that the cost for the fix will be at least $1,200 out of pocket. This cost is ridiculous and should be included under the standing recall from the manufacturer. The fact that this is a manufacturing defect is obvious and is a serious safety issue!.

On April 20, 2015, I took my 2005 Mini s convertible to Mini of fairfield county in darien, CT because the air bag light was on. I received a verbal quote of approximately $1200 to repair. Later that day I received an email from the shop foreman stating that Mini was aware of an issue with the passenger seat sensor and that Mini was looking into a course of action. A few days later the press reported that a recall was being done for this issue and I called again, when I was told that a letter would come from Mini with details. Sometime between then and June 15, I received a letter (dated "June 2015") stating that a recall was going to be issued, and I should not carry passengers if the light was on (it had been on since April), and again called Mini of fairfield county, where they reiterated the info in the letter that I would have to wait for yet another letter. I called Mini customer care both on June 15 and August 25 to request information on the timing, and they were unable to provide any information beyond what the dealer told me. It is now August 25, and over four months that I've been unable to safely carry a passenger in this vehicle. I feel that this meets the standard noted in the recall letter "if your Mini dealer is unable to remedy the defect without charge or within a reasonable amount of time", especially when I was given a verbal quote in April to fix the issue. Mini has also declined to provide a loaner vehicle while mine is disabled. I request that NHTSA investigate whether Mini intends to properly carry out this recall (15v-205).

Passenger side seat occupancy sensor failed, airbag light and passenger occupancy light are illuminated. Cost to replace is around $1k. There was a recall of this for models up to 2005, but this model is not included.

Passenger airbag light has been on since 2013. Mechanics tell me that it is a weight-sensing mat on the seat. Mini recalled 2005 Mini's but this one is not included in the recall. This is a very common problem with this year for this car.
The seat belt indicator and air bag indicator lights have been intermittently coming on whether or not someone is in the seat. Now the air bag indicator light is always lit and the seat belt indicator is still intermittent. I spoke to the dealer we bought the car from and they will not test the condition under the warranty. We purchased the car on 12/22/2012. It will cost over $100 just for them to tell us if there is a malfunction. Sounds as though the repair will cost well over $1,000. From research on the internet, it sounds as though this is a common problem and BMW recalled the BMW models for a similar issue, but Mini will not fix this known problem. I feel this is a safety issue as we do not know if the airbag system is working properly or not. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
Pass air bag light stays on.
Passenger airbag light is on even if less then 25 lbs is on the passenger seat.
Passenger airbag light comes on indicating that there is a fault with the airbag system and the system is inactive.
