Failure Date: 10/02/2015

I have had several incidents over several months when I step on the brake , it goes to the floor. I quickly pump the brakes and braking effectiveness returns. There has also been times where brake pedal feels mushy. I took to local dealer after almost rear ending a vehicle when it stopped suddenly. . I told them I had received the recall notice but it had told me to wait for further instruction. I informed the dealer that something had to be done as vehicle was unsafe. They performed an abs recall inspection and told me car was fine. . . . . . ". I said no it's not and something needs to be done now. The dealer said they would get back to me. Oct 2nd the brake failed and in avoiding another car I went into the ditch causing damage to car and mild whiplash. Car was towed. I informed dealer and asked what I should do. . . . . . . He said they could flush system but most likely the abs unit needed replacing and they did not have it. I talked to mitchubishi n. Awho informed me that there was no recall. . . . . . . . I now have a car that insurance will fix but I will pay 500. 00 deductible for a car that I am afraid to drive, so now what do I do? the accident happened on a city street when I was preparing to turn left. State patrol and ems responded.

7 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2015

I was driving 55 to 60 mph, then let off the gas to take my exit and was down to about 20 mph when my brakes failed, and I couldn't stop at the light at the end of the ramp. The pedal went all the way to the floor, so I pumped them 2 or 3 times and as I was letting off the break, it started whistling. It sounded like a cross between an accordion and an asthmatic episode. I was already close to school, so I drove to the parking lot and parked. The only way I could slow down and stop was to continuously pump the breaks. I wasn't having nor ever had issues with my breaks before that day.

8 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2015

The brakes failed to stop the car at a red light within about 10 feet. The road had gravel on it and the brakes started to grip, then the pedal went down further and the car kept going for about 10 feet. I was lucky there was no one in front of me. This has happened again several times since then. I have recently received the safety recall letter and went to verhage Mitsubishi in holland, mi on July 30 but they said they don't have the parts to repair it. I called again today and they said they still don't have the parts to repair it. This is very unsafe and should be repaired promptly and Mitsubishi is not providing the parts to do the repair. .

9 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

While driving to work one morning in January around 7:00, my brake pedal went to the floor when I attempted to stop for traffic. I had to steer out of my lane to avoid hitting the stopped car in front of me. I quickly pumped the pedal and it came back up to stop my car. I took the car to a nearby firestone service center but they could not locate any problem, as the car was stopping okay at that time. At least once or twice every couple of months since January, I have had this same thing to occur, the brake pedal goes to the floor when stopping. I have to pump the pedal very fast and hard to stop. Once the pedal is back up, it stops fine. I just never know when it is going to the floor. In July 2015, I received a letter from Mitsubishi motors notifying me of a recall due to an abs hydraulic unit problem. The safety recall notice states Mitsubishi will send me a follow up notice when the remedy parts are available. I feel this is not sufficient. I feel my car is too unsafe for driving. It should be towed to a local dealership for immediate repair. I should be given a safe rental car until Mitsubishi can fix the brakes. The dealership has informed me, they have no towing available, I will have to pay for towing and for a diagnostic check if they cannot reproduce the brake failure, even though there is a recall in place. I know this is an intermittent problem and they probably will not be able to reproduce the failure, that should not cost me towing, diagnostic or storage cost. Is Mitsubishi only responsible when there is a crash? I want my car safe for me and my family. I feel Mitsubishi should do more to make this happen.
