April 2010 while driving my vehicle a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse rs hatchback at approximately 20 miles per hour, the 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse rs hatchback suddenly loss control and crashed onto the roadway. I heard a loud noise and the car instantly loss use of control in steering and the car proceeded to leave the road onto a grassy median to my left side. I discovered the front control arm was lying on the roadway detached from the axel and tire. The front driver's side wheel was wedged at an angle between the frame and the disassembled parts of the car. I had the 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse towed home and replaced the faulty parts with another front control arm & lower ball joint purchased from auto zone. In 2011, the same vehicle a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse rs hatchback loses control while in motion at approximately 15 miles per hour, as I was turning left onto a two lane street. The car lost steering control skidding off the roadway in the direction on-coming traffic. The front control arm was lying on the ground detached from the front driver?s side wheel. The front driver's side wheel was wedged between the frame of the vehicle and the road. I contacted a towing service to tow the car in for repairs. I bought and replaced the faulty control arm & lower ball joints. July 2012, I was traveling at approximately 35 miles per hour, in the left lane of a four lane main thoroughfare, when the 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse rs hatchback loss steering control and crashed to the ground while in motion, causing the car to leave the roadway towards the left. I got out of the vehicle to assess the damage and discovered the front control arm detached from the front driver's side wheel. The control arm was lying on the ground and the front driver's side wheel had been damaged from the impact and skidding along the roadway. I contacted a towing service to remove the vehicle.

The contact owns a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The contact received a recall notice for a safety act that would replace the ball joints on the vehicle. The dealer replaced the ball joints; however, after he retrieved the vehicle, he noticed that it was pulling to the right due to the tire alignment. The dealer stated that he did not need an alignment with the replacement of the ball joints. An independent mechanic and another Mitsubishi dealer stated that the vehicle would need a four wheel alignment following the replacement of the ball joints. The recall number was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 91,000.
Problem: harness. Every time I lift the steering wheel up, the engine turns off. I have tried to go to the Mitsubishi dealer and to Honda sierra where I bought the car (used) and they didn't want to take responsibility for it. I was like a tennis ball, so, I got tired of it. I even send a letter to Honda sierra to deal with the problem because I bought if defective. Unfortunately, I did not get a response. Repair cost more than 300 dollars. I don't have money yet, and im still hopeful that either of the two parties are willing to work with the problem.

Made normal turn, straightened wheels, steering locked up, ran off road (road veered left, car didn't) into tree. Total loss to vehicle.
I am filing a complaint regarding the steering mechanism in my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse gt - on Monday, December 27, 2004 - I was going home from work and my steering suddenly became stiff and I was almost unable to steer the car enough to get to my home. The problem seems to be intermittent. The car is still under the factory warranty and I called Mitsubishi who had the vehicle towed to dealership for repair. I have not gotten my car back and it is still in the shop; however, I find this issue to be a huge safety issue in terms of consumers of this product. I did research previous complaints on your site and see the same issue was noted under the components of steering wheel and handle bar for the 2003 Eclipse product.

I would like to file a complaint regarding my Mitsubishi Eclipse gts 2003. The product has not performed well because during the six months that I have had my brand new car, I had to bring it for several repairs. First, the car went to the shop at Mitsubishi bosak chicago for a loose bolt, second the car had a leak on the coolant system, third the wheel was no longer aligned, and fourth the rear defroster does not defrost properly. I am very disappointed of that matter because one of the reason I invested my money in buying a brand new car and choosing Mitsubishi so I dont have to spend more time in the shop for repair and spend more cash. The car was only six months old and already experiencing a lot of problems, now the car has been a year and I brought the car back to Mitsubishi bosak dealer to have the rear light fixed because water was going inside and still waiting to have the sunroof to be fix because it does not operate properly and the axle of the car needs to be replace. They wouldnt replace it right away because the mechanic stated that we have to wait for the item to be delivered. What if during that time of wait something happen to the car? (may god forbid) I have before try to complain with the Mitsubishi headquarter in California, but the person wouldnt do anything. I feel very unsafe of my car. I think that the company should check their entire product before selling it to the public. Driving my Eclipse is something that I fear because I never know something might happen because of the cars defect.
Consumer states that vehicle pulls excessively to the right. Vehicle checked by dealer who ruled out the tires or vehicle's alignment as causes. The dealer informed the consumer issue is part of vehicle's normal operation. Ts.
