I had a nail in my tire and went to have it fixed. Upon removing tire the tech informed me and showed me that the inner part of the good year tire 215/50r17was cracked. I had tire replaced with 2004 good year tire I had saved from my last purchase, that had side wall issues also. I replaced all tires with another brand, did not keep the tires. My previous tires when I purchased the vehicle 2003 were also good year and they had dry-rot ( I was let to believe at the time) I got them with the vehicle when I purchased the vehicle. All four tires were replaced at that time 2004 with another set of good year 215/50r17. Now I have dunlaps 215/50r17 purchased 7/21/2011 hoping to do better. I hope that this infor is of help in possibly preventing a serious injury to someone.

The contact owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The contact owns goodyear eagle rs-a p225/50r17 tires. The contact stated while traveling at speeds of 25 mph, the front drivers side tire tread separated, causing a blowout. The vehicle did not travel over anything to influence the tire failure. The tire had 42,000 miles at the time of the failure.
Tire tread separation on passenger car tires. Brand = kumho
line = ecsta asx
size = 225/40/r18
dot # = yomx yc2f
while driving down the road, my son noticed rubber chunks flying from the front end of his car. When he stopped to check things over, he found that the tread of one of the front tires was separating right down to the base cords of the tire. The separation occurred on just one edge of the tread and was being un-spooled from the tire. I am reporting this so that it may be documented for future reference in the NHTSA database.

I have a mitisubishi Eclipse 2003 100000 miles ( majority highway). In the spring of 08-the vehicle was making noise when accelerating, the vehicle was changing gears hard and was advise it was the transmission/motor mounds. The problem occurred intermittently while driving as much as 40mph. Took it back to mitisubishi dealer for service/diagnosis-told possible eventually trans, timing belt and possibly radiator, which was one of another consumers resolve. Well, they flush the radiator and it resolve the problem of driving but not the noise. Also June 2009-after driving 5 mph I noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment, the consumer pulled over ( call for tow and later opened the hood to see all the insulation smolder). After being stranded for over an hour I was towed to my destination. The car was later towed to contractor advise possible distributor, realized it was not the distributor and suggest car is towed to mitsubish for official computer service diagnosis ( due to car starting but not turning over). Advise, by the mitisubishi service tech all of the electrical wires were melted. . . Computer failure/extreme electrical system damage, harness melted etc; I ask the dealer service manager @ the dealership, what would cause this and had this happen before? he stated ?not sure of cause?and was really shocked to the damage "possible fuse, ignition wires something" not sure. Diagnostic testing cost $112. 00 repair estimate $5400. Help!!!I the manufacture needs to be made aware of this hazard of a problem; if not already. With recall/replacement and/or reimburse good faith and loyal Mitsubishi consumers. I won't began to explain the numerous brake/rotors & tires replaced/repaired within 5 years of purchased in September 2002.
At a little over 33,000 miles I was experiencing issues with losing air in my tires on my 2007 Mitsubishi spyder Eclipse. The tires I have are p235 45r18 - goodyear eagle. One morning my tires would not even keep enough air in them to get to work. I stopped at the Mitsubishi dealership where I purchased my car and they told me it was too dangerous to drive on them. I asked about a warranty and they told me there was none. I replaced the tires because I was afraid to drive my car at the cost of a little over $600. Now I am having trouble with a 3rd tire doing exactly the same thing. There are cracks in the tires and this is causing the loss of air.
I purchased a new car with goodyear eagle rsa tires on it. The tire tread has separated causing the car to be disabled with my teen driver driving it. The goodyear dealership is telling me now that the tires have no warranty on them. Why would a dealership sell tires with no warranty? why would goodyear not put a warranty on some brand new tires? I called the authorized tire dealership and he tells me I should have been happy that they lasted longer than 30,000 miles. This is a sham. This is unfair to the consumer.

On 5/19/08, another employee informed me that my rear driver's side tire was flat in our company parking lot. I am a member of aarp motoring plan and called to have the flat changed. A company called roadrunner road service was dispatched. The employee, raheem, from roadrunner road service told me that for an addition $20, he could plug the tire, reinflate it and put it back on the car. I went back into my plant to get the addition money to pay for the repair and did not see him place the tire back on the car. Everything appeared fine with the tire when I paid him the addition monies. When I left at the end of the day, approx. 3 hours later, the tire was still inflated and appeared normal. As I was driving a short distance the tire was making a horrible sound. It sounded like it was flat again. I pulled over but the tire still looked inflated and normal. I thought that the plug just needed to be driven on. It continued to make the horrible noise and shaking so I took my car to firestone. One of the mechanics took it for a test drive and stopped immediately. He got my tire iron out of my truck and tightened the lug nuts. He stated that the person who put my tire back onto the car forgot to tighten the lug nuts and the tire was ready to fall off. He also stated I was lucky that I did not have an accident. I called roadrunner road service, 918-443-2054 or 215-949-9727, immediately the next day, 5/20/08, and spoke to a kim. She took my complaint and told me her manager would call me back immediately. I have called 6 times in the last 8 days and get the same answer, "my manager has your number and will call you back. She even gave me the number for the repairman, raheem, 610-202-6389 and he was rude and refused to address my complaint to take responsibility. This was a very dangerous situation over simple neglect. I expect some acknowledgement and reimbursement of the $20, I still had to go to another service facility to have the problem fixed.

I bought new tires for my daughter last fall and she has been away at college and her car has not been driven much at all. When she came home from school we noticed 2 huge buldges and another buldge in both her front tires. They are not worn at all but we were told not to drive on them cause they could blow at anytime. They are bridgestone 250/r17.
The contact owns a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse spyder. The vehicle has goodyear eagle rs-a tires, size p245/45r18. The vehicle was purchased in August of 2007 and by December of the same year, the front driver's side tire ripped at the seam. A few months later, the front passenger side tire experienced the same failure while driving 30 mph. In July of 2008, the rear passenger side tire ripped. On August 20, 2008, the rear driver's side tire failed in the same manner. The manufacturer was unable to assist and advised the contact to speak with the technician at the place where the vehicle was purchased. All of the tires have been replaced except for the rear driver's side tire. The failure mileage was 14,583.

Went over a railroad crossing in red bank NJ. Rim and tire had to be replaced.
Hit a pothole on rt 80 in penn. Rim and tire had to be replaced.
I purchased this vehicle brand new, and what a mistake it was. I have begun the process of declaring the lemon law. I have had the vehicle into the shop for repairs 8 times in 4 months. The drive shaft had to be replaced because the boot split and leaked grease. The fog lights fill with moisture and condensation due too inadequate venting. The windows don't seal too the body on the convertible causing water leaks, and the seals located on the quarter glass rub the door window which allows the rubber to wear prematurely and create additional leaks. I have had to have the rear quarter glass replaced 5 times in 4,000 miles. The car vibrates while driving because the tires are bad. I had to have the front two replaced because the tread was seperating internally on the tires. Mitsubishi needs to take responsibility for all the cars on the road with defects. Please help dt.
Tires are losing air, or I am getting flats due to the fact that rims are defective, they are bent out of shape very easily.
Rims will easliy bend. Also, when consumer is driving at high speeds, tires will start to wobble. Contacted dealer. Mitsubishi dealer denies claim.
My rims are two-piece and have had 3 bent rims and 3 blowouts due to these rims. This is compounded by the fact that the gt tires are low-profile. These rims are easily dented, the clear coating peeled off after a short period of time. I have all the documentation and have had meetings with jeff ney at max madsen. I have pictures of all bent rims that I can fax or e-mail to you as well.
Not only do I have the aggrevation of bent rims and flat tires, and financial hardship on this, my left side of the car doesn't align to the right. Water leeks in on the left side. Sometimes the heater blows out cool air. The sunroof shakes when opening. I already had a manufacuters defect in my strut on the left side. I have sctraches on the left side fom the car scrapping the ground when I make a right hand turn. I had to have the cooling system replaced the first week I financed it. My hood won't open and my headlights fail causing me to dirve only with the fog lights. All these issues are the same and constant since I purchased this lemon.
Aluminium rims are bent, causing the tires to go flat. Front right tire went flat while parked. The consumer stated that the front tire went flat while driving.
Consumer received recall 00v421001 on front end for lower ball joints . Since last month front passenger side tire has worn down to steel belt. Wires were coming out of tires. Contact dealer, and dealer stated they did not have anything to do with tire problem. Michelin dot 4m39dv6x3700 195/70r14 91t m+s.

Flat tire, manhattan NY 49th street. Slight rim damaged, rim banged out.
On June 18,2001 first tire peeled off. Continental tire ,charlotte,nc 28273, mrs kimberly somerville, 704-588-4164would not pay for damanged, stated some road hazard punctured the tire. Again, on June 13, 2001 a second tire peeled off and cause damange. My attorney wrote them about the damage on July 30,2001. They refused to answer her letter. I still have the two peeled off tires in my father's garage. First tire claim number with continental was c-10-343. They refused to answer my attorney on the second peeled off tire. I requested all continental tires be removed from the car for safety reason and to pay for my damages. (tiresize: p205-55r16).
Two tires on two different occasions had blown out, and rims had to be replaced. Unable to drive vehicle over bumpy roads while other vehicles could be driven without a problem. Technician at dealer told consumer that rims were low profile, and low in quality. Had to pay for other rims.
I have had four incidents of the rims bending during normal driving conditions, including two blowouts of the front tires at highway speeds as a result of the rims being bent out of shape. I produced four receipts of the repairs which I payed for to the dealer in mid January. They had a district regional manager look at my case and then declined to reimburse me for the damage,I do know that there is a class action law suit in progress for this very reason and I still have yet to receive my original receipts as well as a copy of the report that was declined by the dealer. I was told numerous times by the service manager that the papers would be mailed to me but that was over four weeks ago, and now they are lost in the mail. I would like an explanation of why a safety concern such as this can just be dismissed with no reason when hundreds if not thousands of people are having the same problem please get back to me on this matter, thank you ,stephen weir.
