The contact owns a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor. The contact stated that the ignition switch failed. The vehicle was unresponsive when shifted into drive and the contact attempted to accelerate. In addition, the neutral indicator would illuminate erroneously when the vehicle was shifted into drive. Mitsubishi Endeavor 2004, 48k miles, moving at approx 40 miles per hour, passenger front door panel near the lock and window switches began smoking and quickly filled the entire vehicle with smoke sufficient to obscure all vision. Within seconds flame appears out of the door panel and flames continued to spread until it engulfed most of the passenger door before it was put out with a fire extinguisher provided by nearby business.
