I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant, and I have done research thoroughly on the Mitsubishi and it seems that this car was made to have a failure in the heat assembly. Actually, my heat is not working and everyone say it is the motor that is inside the dash. This should not go bad, is there anything that could be done so I would not be spending so much money for this repair.
I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant v6. In this car I have an issue with the heating system in the cabin. It seems this is a common failure in all 1999-2003 models. Please let Mitsubishi motors of America know about it as its very common in these particular models. . Read more...
Two weeks ago our cars? passenger front panel started to smoke within a few minutes the engine was started. At the time it happened we did not know where the smoke was coming from. When I went to get closer to the smoke it was the panel where the window and door buttons are. The security guard in our building had a flashlight and saw the top part of the panel was melting, he was able to lift the melting plastic and inside the door the smoke and flames were. The fire extinguished and we pulled the fuse. Now we have no power windows on all so we are driving without the ability of opening the windows. Thank god we were not on the highway when it started. I called Mitsubishi and they told me there were no recalls for this problem yet on your site there were two others with the same problem. Since it?s passed the warranty time they are not responsible to pay for the damages. I do understand the insurance company will pay for it but since I have a deductible of $500 I must pay for it. Mitsubishi customer service said if the insurance company finds the piece to be a defect, they would need to put in a claim for it. I don?t understand why a car of only 5 years old had this problem. I also have other problems to mention since when I looked at this site I too have a problem with clicking sound when I put on the heater. Sometimes the heater doesn?t work. This could have been a tragic situation. Does someone have to die for these problems to get fixed. I am now worry since I also have another car the same make , model and year. Please inform me what else I need to do to solve this problem. Thank you.
Heater control valve locks up and makes the vehicle unable to heat up. The factory part is very poorly designed and leads to premature failure and a very pricey repair bill.
Heater valve motor failed in my 2003 Galant I have heard many many complaints about the same issue and have read many more of the same issue online.
We have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant and after only 3 winters the heating core has gone out. This is ridiculous!! especially since this car has extended coolant and nothing needs to be done to this car for at least 5 years. The auto repair service I used replaced the heating core only to find out that the heater control motor valves were not opening up which caused the heater core to go bad. From my understanding the Mitsubishi dealer where the parts came from keep these in stock because this is happening quite frequently in these cars. This is $1400 worth of parts and labor. This should definitely not happen to a car that is only 4 years old.
My wife's 2003 Mitsubishi Galant's heater failed last year. We had the heater control motor replaced. It has happened again this year. I can't see spending 400 dollars once a year to fix the heater.
After normal use, the heating system within the 2003 Mitsubishi Galant breaks. Everyone with this car has or will have this problem.
I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant with problems with the heater control motor, from what I understand there have been an exuberant amount of these having this issue and it should be recalled by Mitsubishi seeing they charged 22,000 for this car and it is now only worth 3000.
2003 Mitsubishi Galant no heat, I've been online and there a hundreds of complaints about the same issue. I've been to the dealer and independent garage and talking between 300/ 1000 to fix with so many complaints the dealer should be required to fix this problem.
The heater control motor on my car has failed twice since I bought the car a year and a half ago.
2002 mitshubishi Galant- heat stopped working at 75,000 miles. When turning on heat car began making a "gargling" noise and then eventually stopped working all together. A/c works fine just the heat will not come on!.
No heat.
Heater no longer works.
I have a Mitsubishi Galant, 2003, and the heater core has gone bad. I am not opposed to cost of the part, it is the labor charge that has me upset. Because the dash has to be taken apart I am looking at $300. 00-$400. 00 for this repair. I would like Mitsubishi to help defray the labor costs. I understand this is happening a lot in Mitsubishi Galants.
2002 Mitsubishi Galant 3. 0 v6, heater control motor failed after only 5 years of service. Also, speedometer was consistantly 4 mph fas, always has been.
On my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant with the 3. 0 liter engine, the heat occasionally fails to provide warm air. The fan works, the car is at a normal running temperature, and all hoses are warm. The heater control motor is failing. The part is cheap but you have to remove most of the dash board to replace it. The dealer charges an unusually large amount to fix it, anywhere from $300 - $600.
Heat stopped working. . Control moter for the heater core.
Heat stopped working about 6 months ago due to what I think is a heater core or heat valve issue.
2003 mits Galant, heater all of a sudden stopped working, no sounds before, just woke up next morning turned on heat and got cold air.
Ever since purchase of 1999 Mitsubishi Galant in 2003 the heater does not work properly. Engine temp is normal but blows out cold air. Give it the gas and it blows out hot air. Take foot off of gas and goes cold. Replaced thermostats told that it is a defective heater core that goes bad in all of Mitsubishi's.

2003 Mitsubishi Galant ES v6 60,000 miles. . . Heat does not work. . . Recently turned heat on in car. . . Heard a clicking sound coming from heater, then only cold air came out through vents. . . Based on the volume of consumer internet postings, this is a very common problem among this type of car.
The blue and red controls for the air and heater started to make a grinding noise when turned to heat. It continued to do so for a few more times then stopped. It was raining one day and I wanted to defrost the windshield. That is when I discovered the heat was not working. I am not mechanically inclined and have done nothing yet to fix the problem. I wanted to see if there was a recall or something first before I spent any money on the problem.
Temperature control was making weird grinding noises when adjusting from cold to hot or vice versa. Temperature initially would change as desired. Grinding noises eventually ceased as well as no heat available. Period or lapse of time was roughly 1 to 2 months before heat didn't work. Corrective action is being looked at in 1 week. Understand other 2003 Galants have been having this same issue. With the heater control motor and other parts needing to be replaced.
I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant and already the heater is gone in it, I have searched the internet and learned that many others that have this vehicle has the same problem I think Mitsubishi should pay for this defect since we paid money out of a-- to replace thermostat, water hoses, etc and the problem still exist the heater only blows out cold air.
I've owned my 2003 Mitsubishi Galant LS since new and my heater has stopped working. The car has 60000 miles on it and I noticed that there were many people that has the same problem.
No heat coming from heater. Fan still works, but no heat. Clicking noise from dashboard preceded failure of heater. Taking car to mechanic for diagnosis/repair.
As seen several times on this complaint page my Mitsubishi Galant 2002 models heater has gone out do to what I do not know. I also had a clicking noise when I would turn the dial from cold to hot. Then finally about 6 months ago it just stopped and since have not heat to come back on!.
No heat.
Heat does not work.
Consumer complained about a heat problem. With the heat. While driving, the heat blew out from the vents in the top of the dashboard, but when directing it to the floor, it did not come out of the lower portion of the vehicle. Consumer was told that this was normal. Consumer added that with the control knob on off position, air or heat camed out from the vent.
About three years ago I got this clicking noise behind my dash and my heat quit working. Well if it would click again it would work. Well it finally quit working all together and after doing some research Mitsubishi seems to be putting bad heat control motors in their cars. My car 2002 and it started this in 2004. As much as I've paid for this car this is unacceptable. This is not a cheap part to have fixed as I have found from my research. It would be one thing if I was the only one it happened to but it seems to be a problem with Mitsubishis and I believe they should have to replace their faulty part. Thank you!.
The fans makes noise and there is no a/c - heat. Dealership says that it may be the heater control unit. Searched the web and alot of mits. Galants are having this same problem.
