3 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 11/07/2022

While driving the vehicle the headlights will turn off at random intervals. The passenger side rear tail light is out and remains out despite changing the bulb. Water leaks through a gap in the body into the light and the trunk. Headlights need to be reliable in order to ensure safety and visibility, especially at night and during inclement weather. My father is a retired auto mechanic and has been doing his best to troubleshoot the problem. I am experiencing financial hardship at the moment and I cannot afford to bring my vehicle anywhere that would charge. There are no warnings, the lights just stop working periodically and the tail light stopped working about a week ago.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/24/2020

The brake lights were no longer functioning, but the tail lights were still operating. The car failed inspection due to brake lights not functioning and the vehicle was taken to the dealership for diagnostics. The ecu, part number 8637c096 is what is in my vehicle. There is a safety recall for a 2009 Lancer, sr-15-002, for the ecu but because of the part number (8637a826) difference the dealership will not replace my ecu that is faulty. Upon further personal investigation I have found several issues surrounding the ecu for Lancers;10091781, 10158957, 10142736, 10117850, 10158956, 10158955, 10142736, 10158957. 12 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 10/14/2019

My srs light just started coming on a few years ago before we were in an accident. When we took it to the dealer to check it, they said it was a costly repair and is only to remove the light. . . But that the airbags would still deploy if we were in an accident. Since then, we've been in an accident where we were rear-ended (which would not deploy the airbags) but it pushed us into the car in front of us (which should have deployed the airbags). Seeing as this light just came on way before any accidents and could not have been caused by anything we did, I believe it to be faulty from the manufacturer. When googling this issue, I found a lot of people complaining about the same thing happening. Yet, Mitsubishi has never been pushed to make their seat belt pretensioner flaw into a safety recall and expects to just make money off mitubishi owners coming in to pay to have this fixed.

13 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/06/2019

When I accelerate the car stalls. And then it jerks when you do accelerate and this morning it stalled out on the highway and I almost got hit I have contacted the used car lot that I just purchased this car from to complain about this issue I've had the car for three days and I've called in 24 hours after I bought the car it's dangerous. In this happens in subdivisions it happens in residential areas on the highway every time you go to accelerate the car jerks and then acts like it wants to stall out and then this morning.

14 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 08/02/2019

I smell fuel in my car fairly often, also I have a recall on my car and the dealership will do nothing about it. I ran codes and they all point back to an issue with th computer. When I'm driving it will just start smelling like fuel. I am usually on a city street or freeway. The last thing to happen to me is the car drove like it wanted to start and stop, I was on a street turning to the next one. The transmission service required popped on. I turned the car off then off again and the car would not engage in any gear.

15 Electrical System problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 01/05/2019

The air conditioning and heater controls knobs on dashboard. Do not turn. Can't. Adjust temperature electrical cercuit in the emissions system has low voltage that causes the engine. Light to cpme on and turn off at random. The front headlights are very week in lumins. When driving on the highway and city streets , the car accelerates on its own without. Me pushing. On the foot pedel. . The sunroof moter came unattended on it own.

This is not the first Mitsubishi that has done this. My ex's 2000 Mitsubishi eclipse also had this same problem. The speedometer does not register. I need to know how fast I am going.

17 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 07/22/2018

The blower motor was recalled, but according to Mitsubishi motors, my car was not part of the recall. I had to replace the blower motor yesterday and have the defective part that shows it was recalled in Mitsubishi's safety recall bulletin sr−15−003 dated June 2015. I contacted mitusubishi directly, and the representative I spoke with told me that my vehicle was not part of this recall. This is frustrating, as I have the defective blower motor which is clearly marked with the recalled number. I believe Mitsubishi missed some cars in their recall. My car was manufactured in June 2008, which makes it an early 2009 model. I would like reimbursement for the new replacement blower motor I had to purchase. I have receipts and the faulty motor.

18 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 07/01/2018

The car started flashing a warning sign and loosing power. When trying to accelerate it stops. Eventually it puts the car into a limp mode and will stall altogether. This happens any long distance trip. My car year and model is not the only Lancer being effected by this computer glitch. It’s very dangerous due to the fact that the cars loosing power while you’re driving. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the middle of the highway it will just stop working. All research I have done points to an error within the computer that tells the car when to cool down the transmission. I have seen many blogs, forums and actually know another Lancer owner who’s model is a 2012 and has the exact same issue. I don’t know why this hasn’t been addressed yet when it’s affecting more than just one Lancer here or there. Bad for the engine bad for the transmission bad for my travel. And the worst part is that any mechanic is unable to detect the issue unless the car is actively coding. I’ve had this car for 3 years now and I feel it’s a big safety concern and needs to looked into. First occurrence was on a trip down to a local lake car stalled on the side of a highway this was in 2018. Now any trip further than over 30 miles or more the car will throw this code it looks like a gear and it has a exclamation point in the middle. It’s progressively getting worse and effecting the over all performance more each time I wish to travel. Please find out why this issue is occurring in multiple years of the same model of car because it inconvenient and dangerous. I would hate for myself and my kids to get killed in an accident due to not being able to get out of the way of a bigger vehicle or a truck.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 11/08/2017

Water has made its way through the grommet in the driver side wheel well, down the harness, and rests in the connectors behind the kick panel under the dash. Wires/connectors have become corroded causing several problems, including: lights will not turn off, and neither will the engine after keys are removed and even after the battery is disconnected.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/15/2017

I bought my 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer in Nov. 2014 at long lewis Ford in florence, al, where I received all regular maintenance and service performances for it. On sept. 15, 2017, I was driving down the road in my 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer and experienced complete engine failure (while in motion), creating a safety hazard. Once the system failed, I could no longer accelerate and could only "coast" to try and find a safe spot to brake. When I opened the hood, the main relay had caught fire, was black, burnt up, and melted on the inside. I couldn't get my car to go in neutral or any systems to work to get it completely off the road, creating another safety hazard, and had to have it towed. A sales tech met me with a new relay that I purchased. The new relay did not get my car moving again because when the relay (that was in my car when I bought it) caught fire, it caused damage to the computer/ecm. When giving the part numbers from my relay and ecm/computer for replacements, the parts specialists and I realized that the part numbers for the computer/ecm matched only a 2015 computer/ecm, and there was not a matching part number for the relay as that exact one was unobtainable, and a different one that was compatible had to be purchased. I have recently learned that there is a recall for the 2015-2017 Mitsubishi Lancer relays because there is a defect in the relay which causes complete engine failure. I would appreciate an investigation being performed to see if the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancers should be included under this recall as I have experienced the same relay issue, safety hazard and concerns, and also due to the fact that my 2014 Lancer has a 2015 system in it. I need to make certain whether the relay that was put in my 2014 Lancer when built, and when replaced, was/is not defective. Please advise if I need to direct this safety concern to another appropriate administrator.

21 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 06/09/2017

The contact owns a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle's brake and rear lights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched online and found NHTSA campaign number: 15v232000 (electrical system). The manufacturer confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v232000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was 106,000.

22 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 03/22/2017

I have been driving this car for a couple of months now and every once in a while very randomly I experienced a loss of acceleration completely. It happens after a long period of driving and when I'm coming up to a stop sign and going to accelerate again after doing research online and taking it to my dealership they will not do anything because they cannot figure out the problem I found a recall on the NHTSA website for my vehicle with my VIN number included in the range of in numbers experiencing this exact problem. I need help getting my dealership to acknowledge this because it is not on their website. I have almost been rear-ended multiple times because of this problem and I am afraid for my safety.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 02/20/2017

After car had been running for several minutes, the temperature control knob on the dashboard was stuck and was unable to turn from cold to warm. When turning the knob, the knob broke exposing electrical paneling. The air temperature was no longer adjustable and was would only blow cold air with the outside being below-freezing temperatures. This happened while car was stationary in driveway, but if happened while moving could have created an unsafe distraction leading to a dangerous incident.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 02/19/2017

Vehicle will at random make a clicking noise, while all lights on dash will flicker on & off. If car is in drive, it will not shut off. However, when in park, if the clicking/flashing occurs, the car will shutoff & not turn back on. I have taken it to Mitsubishi dealer several times, to which the problem was never solved. Car has been stalled out completely (will not turn on at all except clicking/flashing) for going on 2 weeks. Mitsubishi corporate will not assist as the dealer I bought it from is no longer in business. The dealer states it is the lojack componant (which was installed by dealer prior to my purchase in 2015). Lojack states it is not their product as it is self-sustaining & will not prohibit the battery of the vehilcle. Mitsubishi says its lojack shorting out the battery. The dealer I bought it from (city Mitsubishi) was sold & is now northstar Mitsubishi. Coporate refuses to assist, & the local dealers will not assist. My car is not operable.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/06/2016

The contact owns a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer. While driving approximately 5 mph, the cellular telephone was connected to the cigarette outlet for charging. The area near the radio and cigarette lighter became very hot. The contact unplugged the charger from the cigarette lighter for it to cool off. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.

26 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 08/22/2016

The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage and VIN were unknown.

27 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 07/17/2016

There seems to be an issue with the bluetooth connection with the car and any cell phone I try to have connected with the car. Mitsubishi told me it was the cell phones fault not the car. So I went and bought an iphone 6s and got rid of my galaxy s5. To try and fix the problem but still the phone refuses to stay connected to the car. This creates a huge issue with talking and talking on the phone while driving. Some calls are extremely important I cannot simply stop the conversation due to the connection lost while driving. This causes a huge issue if you know what I mean. Traveling at speed and having to worry about keeping both hands on the wheel or get a ticket like in some states is a dilemma I face daily.

28 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 05/04/2016

Etacs failure. Loss of ability to signal turns, loss of wiper function below highest setting, loss of rear wiper, loss of daytime running light, loss of high beams, loss of wiper fluid control. Loss of function came on suddenly, mis spring 2016 returned intermittently over summer, then failed completely beginning of October. A recall for this exact same issue has been released for my vehicle type of a later year. , but my car is not included in the current recall.

29 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 03/28/2016

Blower motor has failed three times. Blower motors on later manufactured vehicles were recalled several years ago because the blower motor may fail. This vehicle exhibits the same symptoms described as that recall but is outside the scope.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 01/03/2016

The headlights on the 15 Lancer are ridiculously dim! I purchased my 15 Lancer in October 15 and hit two deer within two months of having it! I had never hit anything since I started driving, over 8 years now, and all of a sudden when I get the Lancer, I hit not one, but two deer! something isn't right! I can barely see at night and now I hate driving at night when I used to love it! something has got to be done about this!.

31 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 11/01/2015

I didn't think nothing of it until it happened every single time I tried to talk with my bluetooth on. Every single time that I have my iphone 6s plus connected to my bluetooth on my 15 Lancer, it always disconnects and then reconnects in a few seconds or right under a minute. At first I thought it might have been where I didn't have good service, but then it started happening when I was in town with perfect service! something has to be done about this because like the last person's complaint about this, I cannot afford to lose important phone calls and all of my calls are important business calls! I hope others make enough complaints about this so that the manufacturer can do something to fix the problem!.

32 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 08/15/2015

The contact owns a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated that after the vehicle had sat for over five days undriven, the vehicle had to be jump started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the bluetooth connection module was draining the battery and that the module needed to be removed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

33 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 08/11/2015

I took my vehicle into cutrubus Mitsubishi dealer in layton, ut to have my car maintenanced for recalled parts on 11 August 2015, which was the earliest appointment they had available after recall notification. Took vehicle in at 08:00 and the service department stated that the car could not be determined if it was one of the defected vehicles until 12:00 that day. When asked if I could get a loan vehicle in order to go back to work, cutrubus dealer denied. They also stated if my car had the defective parts it could take 48 hours to fix my vehicle and still denied a loaner vehicle. I could not leave my car to have the safety recall fixed due to being active duty in the air force and being a single parent, I can not go without a vehicle. The manager was notified and I spoke with Mitsubishi manufacturer and they stated they are not responsible for supplying a loaner vehicle but it would be up to the dealership if they wanted to or not. I have concerns since this is a safety recall.

34 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

Acd/ayc pump has completely stop working in my vehicle. I took my vehicle to be service and the person who was doing the service on my car told me that the acd/ayc pump has gone out and I need a replacement. I found that weird, because I have not driven my car for roughly about a month and for an issue to pop up was very weird. After doing research, I seems that multiple people have the same issue were these pumps go out unexpected. There are only 1400-1600 of these cars made year in the states and to see many people have this problem in the u. S. And around the world mind boggling to many of us. Mitsubishi needs to find another solution or remedy to this issue. Since I live in the south, my local dealership is not wanting to cover this and I travel along the east coast with my car.

35 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 12/15/2014

All electrical shuts off when car turns on. "check!" and "service engine!" notifications appear in dash, but disappear within seconds. Car can be idle or moving while electrical panel shuts off. Brought car to Mitsubishi for diagnosis, showed them a video of the dash and headlights turning off as if car is stalling, while rpms do not reach zero. They were unable to diagnose problem and said I will likely pay a lot of money to have it looked into and fixed, because they will have to trouble shoot on my dollar. This is very dangerous to drive in the dark because headlamps shut completely off while car is having seizure. Radio also turns off.
