The brakes also fail if I try to stop abruptly they go to the floor and do not stop the vehicle. . . The brakes are the worst when I am driving slowly and try to come to a stop. I have taken my car to the dealership and was told that my brakes are in good condition and the mechanic didn't understand why the car was having issues stopping.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 12/15/2019

I was on the 4th floor of a parking garage in my town and was going up to the top level. As I am about to turn the corner, I realize I am going a bit faster than I thought. So I apply full pressure to the brakes which did not work as fast as they were supposed to. The tow truck man later told me that I was going around 20 to 30 mph at time of impact. When I hit the pillar in front of me, the airbag didn't deploy and my seatbelt did not tighten as they were supposed to. This meant that my whole body snapped forward and impacted collarbone first into the steering wheel. After this incident, my whole left side felt numb and I was left with a swollen collarbone and contusions from the impact.

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/07/2018

I had some warning lights come on for the asc and abs systems being disabled. I took it to the dealer and they said the abs pump was faulty and needed to be replaced for over $3000. I looked online and found several other people with the same issue of the brushes in the abs pump sticking. That same abs pump is used in some BMW and Jeep models with numerous people reporting the same issue. The asc and abs systems seem like critical safety systems that should be covered for repairs due to the failure of a defective component. I would appreciate someone looking into this obvious safety issue. Thank you.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 02/13/2018

Mitsubishi recall 09v077000 in the past few days, I noticed that while in motion my breaks were not reacting with their typical speed. When I took my car into a mechanic, they said it was an issue with my car's brake booster check valve and that there was a safety recall regarding this back in 2009. I was concerned as I have taken my car in for, frankly, more recalls than I can even remember, so I called my dealership to schedule the maintenance. After a lot of back and forth with both the dealership and mitstubishi's customer service, it turns out that my car was not considered as it was made "six months before. " this is really odd as, from all the descriptions of the recall, no timelines were specified, just the model years affected. If my car was truly not in the need of the recall, that's completely fine, but the answers I received regarding this really didn't make sense to me, and I'd rather report it in case more people are affected than just take it at face value.

The car was in extremely strange condition most likely was sitting a long time into a some kind of a vehicle storage. So far the car is working ok with the exception that the transmission, engine, gas pedal, gear-speed-clutch stick, are not functioning as expected by the standards approved by Mitsubishi automotive USA. The car cannot accelerate properly and it is consuming too much gasoline and engine oil. There were several recalls about the car and they were done but the main problem regarding acceleration has not even been considered as a recall yet as far as I know.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/19/2008

I have had several problems of which I have had my car in to the Mitsubishi dealer to check out to find out that they could find out nothing. The brakes gave out once and I had to use my emergency brake to stop. Thank god I did not hit anyone. They seemed to work afterwards. The car would not start and this would happen several time a week. I had the car checked out thoroughly and of course they found nothing out. Now I am dealing with a thumping noise when I am at a complete stop and I go to take off. This noise has been there since the first day I bought the car. It seems to only be heard when at a complete stop and you go to take off. Also the heater fan clicks off and on randomly. I never had this or heard this loud clicking on and off fan noise when I had a 2004 Lancer. I also had it check out and again they tell me that is normal. I do not think so.

33 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 06/06/2004

When driving my vehicle the transmission does not shift gears properly. Normal operation of the vehicle leads to jerky transitions from gear to gear and results in the inability to gauge the amount of pressure need to maintain/reach/sustain speed. This occurs in both highway and city environments. I have had the car serviced according to mfg'r recommendations of every 3000 miles. I have about 35000 miles on the vehicle at this point. It started doing this at about 4000 miles. I have had the vehicle checked multiple times. When taken to the dealership they informed me nothing was wrong. I have changed the trans. Fluid as well as all filters. I was told this is 'normal' for the car. I do not think however that this is a typical behavior for new vehicles. I have also had a problem for the past 1500 or so miles with my breaks squeaking. When I try to stop or pull out from a parking space they have a squealing sound. I have also had this evaluated at the Mitsubishi repair shop and was informed they are fine.
