6 Wiper problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/18/2018

The temperature control knob broke off. Vehicle was stationary. The arm inside can be turned with a needle nose pliers, but only towards the cold/ac side. It stops when turned towards the heat side and will not go- feels as though it could break if it was forced. This is extremely concerning as it is about to be winter in minnesota and with no heat, there is no defroster for windshield or rear window. I am very worried. Upon further investigation online with other owners of the 2003 Lancer, I found out there are many other people with the same issue and I am lead to believe it is a problem with Mitsubishi's design that should have been recalled. If I do not have a defroster I am in danger and I am very worried. It is also a safety issue in this state to not have heat. Temperatures drop below -10f degrees every year and often as low as -30f. I am calling on the good people of the NHTSA for help. Winter is coming and I need my defroster. Please help me.

" which has the same wiper components as the Lancer model.

9 Wiper problem of the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

We received a recall notice for our 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer. We no longer have the original warranty that came with this car at the time of purchase. I have talked to Mitsubishi recall center about this very dangerous airbag that has already killed 23 people: unfortunately, there is not a dealership where I live, so according to the mitchubuhisi case worker one of us would have to drive to the dealership in orland which is approximately 5 hours away/ this car has 130,000 miles on it and can hear a tapping noise when first starting. Because of this noise, my husband feels this car may break down on the way to this dealership. My husband also has a hard time getting time off, "due to the nature of his job," and I have anxiety and am afraid to drive this car. I also have a hard time driving long distances due to a torn meniscus that I had surgery for in February of 2017. Unfortunately, I am still having problems with this knee and am currently still on disability from this injury. This I have related to the Mitsubishi case manager who was assigned to us. She said that all she can do for us is give us $100. 00 for the cost of gas and she did not offer any other solutions, even after I explained the above to her. Are we really stuck with this offer? can you help us with this? does. I can't believe that they can get away with making people take a risk to fix. They are playing russian roulette with our lives. Sincerely,.

14 Wiper problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 01/11/2016

The temperature knob broke easily because it was hard to turn making the defroster impossible to use which is a safety hazard. Furthermore the cruise control was always faulty to begin with but now it isn't even usable. Automatic transmission also loves to lurch into 3rd gear while slowing down at the same time and then jumping back into the speed I was previously going. This issue usually happens at speeds lower than 50 mph.

15 Wiper problem of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 01/03/2016

The headlights on the 15 Lancer are ridiculously dim! I purchased my 15 Lancer in October 15 and hit two deer within two months of having it! I had never hit anything since I started driving, over 8 years now, and all of a sudden when I get the Lancer, I hit not one, but two deer! something isn't right! I can barely see at night and now I hate driving at night when I used to love it! something has got to be done about this!.

19 Wiper problem of the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/29/2014

Heat/ac switch stuck. Can not get heat or defrost in cold and/or icy conditions, making for very unsafe driving. A TSB has been issued to Mitsubishi dealers. Their customer service will not help defray the repair cost claiming vehicle is out of warranty. The safety issue was ignored. I imagine thousands of this model have the same problem. Can you help me get some satisfaction in this matter. Thank you.

21 Wiper problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

The heat/ac knob on my 2003 Mitsubishi has been extremely difficult to turn. This is especially hazardous when trying to defrost the windshield. It now does not turn any more and I do not want to force it because I am afraid it will break. Because of this I have no heat in my car and my windows fog up making it very hard to see out of the windows. I have contacted my local Mitsubishi dealer and they said that this is not a recall and would cost about $1400 - $1500 to fix. There are many people who are reporting the same problem with the same car. I believe this is a design flaw and should be made a recall and repaired for free.

22 Wiper problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/14/2012

I have had my 2003 Lancer for about 4 years and the ac/heater knob has always been difficult to turn. Recently the knob "broke" and it is now stuck on ac and I now have no heat therefore it means I have no defrosters. This is a visibility issue and there should be a recall. According to all of the complaints this is a common problem that needs to be addressed and taken care of.

23 Wiper problem of the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

The knob to adjust my heating and cooling broke off. Now I am stuck with freezing cold air blowing all year round. This effects my visibility at times because I can not use defroster. I was told to replace the unit would be $300+ labor. Seeing as though they have to take the whole dash apart to fix, it is quite expensive. I have read online many other people are having this same issue. I think if Mitsubishi gave us a bogus part that is guaranteed to break, they should have to replace/recall it.

24 Wiper problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 04/28/2012

Purchased vehicle brand new July 2003. Heat/ac knob has always been difficult to turn. It is now stuck on a/c. I am located in an area that acquires freezing temperatures, and evidently, will need to be able to defrost the windshield. Upon researching this issue, I have come across thousands of Mitsubishi owners with the same problem. Since most of the u. S. Experiences freezing temperatures this should, without a doubt, be a recall because it is affecting so many driver's visibilities. The other safety aspect to be considered pertains young children, the elderly, and the ill. Car windows open or not, how is it safe to have the young, elderly, or ill in a car over 100 degrees or under 32 degrees? this is simply unacceptable, irresponsible, and unsafe. Please advise a recall.

25 Wiper problem of the 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 03/15/2011

The srs airbag light came on, the wipers won't stop running. The horn starts on itself. All is related to water entering in the inner fender, shorting electrical connections. This happens when it's rainy outside. This happens to every evolution owner that I know. I don't know if there is a risk with air bags not working caused by that, but that highly concerns me. If there is an accident, I would want to be sure that the airbags will deploy. . . Thanks for your assistance.

26 Wiper problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer
