Front Air Bag Sensor Control Problems of Mitsubishi Mirage

The srs sensor light came on and I have noticed a lot of other people have had this similar issue. I make sure the vehicle is maintained properly and taken to the shop when need be. When the srs sensor light came on, I had just started my car and the light refused to turn off.

On may 30th this car was in the shop at la porte Mitsubishi for another issue. They never said anything about the April 29, 2019 recall about the airbag sensor. I have not received any notice or call about this recall. I found out about this recall from my son and myself looking on this site about it.

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage. The contact stated that the driver frontal air bag deployed inadvertently while he drove at approximately 15 mph. The contact to suffered injuries to the mouth, face, and lower back that required medical attention. The contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a parked vehicle. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bags sensor failed. The dealer replaced the driver frontal air bag and the air bags sensor. The contact also stated that NHTSA campaign number: 15v594000 (air bags) was received November of 2015 after the failure occurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 3,000. Djr.

2001 Mitsubishi Mirage involved in head-on collision with 1994 Ford explorer. Both vehicles estimated to be traveling 35 miles per hour. Air bags did not deploy in 2001 Mitsubishi. Vehicle is a total loss. Adjusters for both insurance companies involved commented that they were surprised that air bags did not deploy. Contacted Mitsubishi because of my concern that air bags did not deploy. Asked if they could have representative inspect vehicle. Their response was that there was probably too little impact to deploy air bags. When I explained that the vehicle was a total loss they said I could do whatever I wanted at my own expense and they would send me a brochure on air bags.

The srs air bag light has illuminated on the dash console information center and has not gone back off, it has been on for at least 2 weeks. Dealer has been contacted.

Overhead dome light and srs light come on. Gas guage fails to work properly, not showing correct amount of fuel. Vehicle wanders unexpectedly carbon build up causes vehicle to stall. Speedometer shows different speed than actually doing; wheels vibrates; was told tires cupping.
