16 Service Brakes problem of the 2001 Mitsubishi Montero

Failure Date: 07/08/2014

On July 8, 2014 I noticed that when I applied the brake pedal, I would hear a noise from the left side of my truck. I wasn't sure what it was and I asked a few friends to look at it. One indicated that it had to do with the brake assist and found under the hood where the noise was coming from. After that I did some research on the item and found through safecar. Gov that this vehicle was apart of a recall from 2001 for the accumulator that is installed on the hydraulic brake booster. I am not the original owner of the vehicle and proceeded it to go the local dealer to have them fix this. I was told that the car had been fixed under the recall back in Nov 2001 and due to this they refuse to fix the item. I filed a complaint direct with Mitsubishi (1246177365). This is obviously a known safety hazard and the Mitsubishi refused to fix a problem they know exists. How do I know if the part they replaced isn't also faulty. The recall report indicated that over a period of time, it could result is leakage of the pressurized nitrogen gas from inside the accumulator and could result in a crash. When I asked the cost to repair the item I was advised it would be $2,000. This is simply insane. They know they have a problem so now Mitsubishi raises the prices on the item so they can recoup the costs of the recall.

Then I found out I did not need the brakes right a that time, only one shoe pad was a little wore. I took it back and then they told me it was the brake system and they would try to get parts from friends that work at the dealer and would call me back, he did not. Took it to pep boys told me to take it to the dealer which I did because they didn't have the tools and it was the only one could do it, because I told them I was hearing beeping noise on left side of truck. I bought this truck from a used car dealer in April of this year 2013, 2 months later I started to hear a chirping noise coming from the engine from the left side when I applied the brakes. Then 3 weeks later as I exited the ramp to go home and stepped on the pedal to brake the four wheels locked on me causing the vehicle to come to a complete stop after going on the ramp for aprox 50 mph . Two cars behind me almost crashed in to me luckily avoided me of course they were upset because they thought I had intentionally did it. I had the truck towed home and have tried numerous times to repair it and the braking system still does not work. It still makes that same noise and locks up. I have not used the vehicle for two months because this problem, after doing some research on how I could fix the problem I came to find out there is a recall on the braking system of this vehicle. I have read the laws and info on the website and called the dealer numerous times so they can fix this manufactures defect and the Mitsubishi corp office and they are not willing to help. The dealer told me they have not fixed the issue on my truck when they checked the modrl number and the corp offices told me the first time that they had and then that they did not. If they did then it would be a lemon. I think the dealer sold me the truck knowing about the issue. My question is what can I do and were can I get help.
