Adaptive Cruise Control Problems of Mitsubishi Outlander

David the Mitsubishi technician drove with me today and witnessed the issues with the adaptive cruise control system. 1. Slow to gain speed on resume in any situation. 2. Car slamming on brakes when sensing a car at a red light, when a car leaves the lane that I am in and there is a stopped car at a red light or not stopping at all. 3. When making a turn into a left or right lane, car will not sense the other car or it will slam the brakes unsafely.

I purchased my 2024 Outlander in August and drive 150 miles daily, Monday to Friday. Since November, with only 2,500 miles on it, I've experienced recurring issues: 1. Adaptive cruise control turns off frequently 2. Forward collision light comes on unnecessarily often several times daily (when starting, driving and when cruise is on) 3. Vehicle brakes suddenly on the interstate 4. Random forward crash light warnings I've taken it to the shop five times, with the following repairs: 1. Radar adjustment (done several times) 2. Radar sensor recalibration (several times) 3. Replacement of forward distance warning sensors 4. Front bumper bracket replacement due to bend 5. Mitsubishi has been involved on 4 occasions 6. I have called and put in a complete with Mitsubishi three times and they always say they will contact me with a resolution within a few days and I have never heard back with any resolution. 7. We have also been made aware that this does not follow the owners manual and has also caused air bags to go off in other situations which has injured customers. Despite these repairs, the issues persist. On January 24, 2025, valley imports left a voicemail stating that Mitsubishi acknowledged it's a known issue with some Outlanders, but they don't have a reliable fix. I do have this voicemail but it is to large for me to upload.

I bought my 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander brand new in March of 2023. I have several dashboard error messages, with huge safety issues. I took it to Mitsubishi and it was in the shop for 65 days and they told me they do not know how to fix it, it is what it is. They also told me I should not rely on the car, the features, and the dashboard. These errors have occurred at different times of day, mileage, and different temperatures. I have pictures for proof. With out these safety features it puts me, my husband, and three small children at risk.

This vehicle is dangerous and going to kill someone. I owned it 4 months and had to have it taken to 3 different dealerships 7 times in 6 weeks because it would die without warning while driving. It left me stranded in 2 different states and I was told every time nothing could be found as to why this would happen. However, there were several codes that came up that lead me and my mechanic to believe the transmission was failing. The dealerships did not want to fix it under my warranty so they told me nothing was wrong. I believe they also did this so that when I inevitably got them to take it back, they would have no paper trail of horrific problems to have to disclose when reselling it. I had to fight to get a new car and I was told this car would be sold wholesale and the issues would be disclosed. They were not. The dealer who bought it had no idea. Upon reaching out to them, they have made the decision to return it to the wholesale company they got it from. If nothing can be done from the NHTSA side, I will continue to track the VIN and tell everyone what has occurred until that car is disposed of. Please, I implore you to get ahold of this car and scrap it completely. Someone will die if this car continues being sold as nothing was fixed and nothing was disclosed about the issues with it. Get this car off the streets. It is not safe to drive.

Car go's fast and take off at a hi speed' transmission slips out of gear; and stops' and can't get to go' stop at light car rolls a head' jumps to go and stops and go's slow' and jump's to go.

This car has been a problem child since day one. Yesterday I was driving on the highway normally and out of nowhere received a warning on my dashboard about all of these malfunctions and that my abs, 4wd system, collision system, etc was malfunctioned and turned off. This was followed by a quick sudden jolt of my car. It stayed on throughout the remainder of the day and then all of the alerts disappeared once I turned off my car and back on later that day. Although the alerts turned off… it is still very concerning to me.

Collision avoidance system and cruise control become disabled when driving. For the first 3 months vehicle system worked fine, after that the collision avoidance system and cruise control would occasionally shut off when driving. Took it to the dealership out 5 months ago, they said there was no fix and wait for a recall. Since then it is occurring more often and we made another appointment for next week to get it fixed. I've seen other comments from owners of this vehicle with the same problem. I bought this vehicle for the safety options of the collision avoidance system, but with it shutting off while driving it poses a hazard and not a safety benefit.

Driver side mirror does not always open back up when unlocking the car. Have to close the mirrors and then open them again. Cruise control will hard stop when a vehicle comes in front and takes too long to speed back up after car is no longer in front. Dangerous on high speed highways. You have to turn off cruise control when this happens to get back up to speed. Hood replacement was requested a year ago. Still waiting and still nervous driving it. Backup camera still turns off in reverse. You have to wait for it to come back on before continuing reversing. So many problems from day one. If I could, I'd get rid of this.

Bought this new 2022 Outlander 10/01/2021, but on 11/07/2021, the car's software suddenly disabled the adaptive cruise control function and forwad collsion warning when I driving on the highway. I tried to drive to a safe place, stop the car and restart it, and the warnings disappeared. But after driving for a few dozen miles, the warning suddenly reappeared. Then the following function and collision prevention function are all disabled, if the front vehicles suddenly brakes and slows down on the highway, my car will probably crash directly into it. I will go to the car store today to ask the problem and hope to get a reply. For the time being, I have not produced an accident, but the car software keeps failing, which is scary. This car's warning lights keep popping up every few dozen miles of driving with the radar safety system these fail, restarting and then getting better, then getting same problem over and over again. And if there is a car in front, the radar does not detect the vehicle in front, the car system or continue to drive, and will not slow down with the car in front.
