The car has severe rust on the frame to the point of the rust corroding a hole in the frame making it unsafe to drive. Black paint has been applied to conceal the extent of the rust, demonstrating clear intent to mislead and a disregard for human safety. The catalytic converter has been aftermarket welded into place and failing emissions. Other repairs needed cannot be done because the rust damage is to bad for mechanics to risk removing the bolts. Yes, the car is available for inspection. This dealership endangered my life, the lives of my loved ones and other drivers on the road with us by allowing us to drive a car with a damaged frame with could have caused a major accident. I took the car to my mechanic and the dealership's mechanic of choice and both said the car is unsafe to drive. The car was inspected by the peachtree Mitsubishi service center and for whatever their reason may be, they told us the car was in great condition. After driving the car for a couple of weeks, we noticed the fumes and a knocking noise under the car. Also, the check engine light was on and the peachtree Mitsubishi service center said it was the tire pressure. Despite my attempts to resolve this matter with the dealership directly, they have refused to take responsibility for their actions. I believe their practices violate consumer protection laws and pose a significant risk to public safety.

When opertaing vehicle it my parking sensor error message was given giving false reading. I was told because of this scratch I need to replace the sensor. I think its a bad design flaw n there are charging me 800 in parts and labor even though its under warranty this can cause false reading and some one can get hurt.

There is currently a service bulletin out for the hood to be replaced because it flutters on the highway, I purchased the vehicle pre owned at 61,000 miles, Mitsubishi won’t cover the repair because it’s over 60,000 miles, I feel like this is a safety concern as the hood flutters on the highway and I have 2 small children in the car most of the time one is an infant , they are trying to charge me $3,045 for the repair when it was the fault of Mitsubishi. I purchased the car preowned from Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram at 61,000 miles and there service department told me several times it’s normal and it’s fine, I finally brought it to a Mitsubishi service center and they told me about the issue. This should not have a warranty to be covered for repair it should be a recall , I’m worries the hood will pop open on the highway .
I was approaching my car and used my keyfob to open the trunk. As it was opening, I was thankfully facing away from the trunk when the rod from the right tailgate lift support flew off, hitting me in my shoulder blade. It sounded like a gunshot. While there was no puncture, due to my thick t shirt and the rod hitting the bone of my right shoulder blade, the pain was severe. Before I realized it was the tailgate support strut, I genuinely thought I had been shot, due to the sound and the pain. Had I been facing my car, the rod would've gone through my face. Had it hit my eye, I indubitably would have lost that eye or my eyesight. There was no warning. I have never experienced anything out of the ordinary with my trunk door or the mechanisms to lift it. This easily could've severely injured me or someone else, or damaged property significantly. Upon inspection visually, the non-threaded end of the rod appears to have snapped off. The hydraulics were so strong that the 5mm thick metal snapped in half within milliseconds. I have an appointment at the Mitsubishi dealership where I got the car to get to the root cause. They confirmed over the phone that my car is too new to have tailgate lift support failure.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander that I financed through your bank. Since purchasing the vehicle brand new in 2022, I have encountered numerous issues that have caused significant inconvenience and concern for my safety. In the past two years, my vehicle has experienced multiple problems, including: 1. Randomly shutting off: last year, my car began randomly shutting off. The dealership attributed this to sensor issues and claimed it was due to me pumping gas while the car was on. Despite this explanation, the problem persisted, and the mechanic only reset the computer system without fixing the underlying issue. 2. Fuel pump issues: recently, on August 11, 2024, my car stopped working for several hours while I was with my daughter. I replaced the battery at a cost of $300, but the problem recurred the next day in traffic. After extensive delays and towing, the dealership identified a fuel pump issue, which is covered under the powertrain warranty but not the connecting parts, costing $1500 each. 3. Safety recalls: I discovered that the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has several recalls related to faulty fuel pump wiring. Although I was initially told my model was not affected, the dealership later confirmed the fuel pump issue. Additionally, the hood of my vehicle was not welded correctly, causing it to flutter and posing a safety hazard. Despite bringing my car to the dealership last year under the original warranty, no effective repairs were made. I have been without a reliable vehicle and have faced significant inconvenience and safety concerns. Given these ongoing issues and the lack of resolution, I am requesting a voluntary repossession of the vehicle. I believe this is the only viable option given the circumstances.
Not starting due to corrosion issues.
On a windy day or a regular day once the car get to about 45 mph or higher the hood begins to flap, bounce, vibrant as if it is going to fly open. As if the wind is getting under and getting ready to take it away.
Since may 2023, I've been to two different dealerships with the same issue. It started with a whistling sound form air vents, buring smell, increased has consumption, loss of power going up hill, gas smell inside cabin, no air, loud noise from right side of car under hood, and engine malfunction warning. Finally, 12/12/23 the car, without warning, instantly stalled, shut-off in traffic. Several vehicles behind me had to swerve to avoid rear end collision at it was it happened in front of a school with heavy traffic! the car would not restart and had to be towed to dealership. I contacted Mitsubishi corporate office in Aug/sept, and was assigned bernedette, who, constantly confused and incoherent, dismissed my complaints as dealerships wouldn't fix bc Mitsubishi wouldn't reimburse. She stated if there was no code, the car could not be fixed! in total, both dealerships have had my car for 30 days or more. Currently, edwards Mitsubishi, has had my car since 12/11 as back ordered part was hard to obtain. I want to go to mediation for lemon law in IA, as this car poses a serious threat to myself and other drivers. Mitsubishi is negligent and duplicitous by issuing erroneous and loose guidelines regarding repairs/recalls when vehicles owners present with problems known to Mitsubishi, especially 2022 Outlanders having fuel pump issues. I still can not get any assistance on the shaking hood!!!!.
While driving the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander at highway speeds the front hood flutters very badly. Causing myself stress that the hood will fly open causing a very concerning safety problem or accident.
The hood flutters and bounces up and down the entire time I'm driving making me too anxious to drive the car at all. I just bought the car used with 21,000 miles yesterday and noticed it after leaving the dealership to drive home. I have an appt for weatherstripping on 7/24.
Hood flutters badly when passing oncoming traffic. Specifically trucks. Sometimes it blows up about an inch or more and I fear it will come loose and open eventually.
On approximately the 12th of may 2023 I was driving home, and while I was driving the tierod from the passenger side came loose and caused me to lose control and this was due to the crossmember being rusty as per the recall, description.

The rear liftgate on this vehicle does not stop if there is an obstruction, I. E. , a hand, a head or other body part. Not only does it not stop in case of obstruction, there is no audible sound made to indicate the door is in motion. I was hit in the head hard this morning - hard enough to cause stars and get a nice golf-ball sized bump on my skull. This is dangerous and should be remedied. This is not the first time this has happened. In the parking lot where this occurred, a man saw the entire episode unfold, yelled out to try and stop it from happening, but I didn't realize he was yelling for me. After the incident he advised me the same thing has happened to him.

Hello: I purchased this vehicle last Nov. The rear hatch was opening fine," but after a couple of months it has stopped and the only way to open it," is from the lever on the inside. You have to use a screw driver or prying tool of some sort to remove the cover in order to get to the lever and you have to lay the back seats down and crawl back there to get to this. I've spoken to other owners who have the same issue. They've had to replace either and or both the actuator and the handle tailgate lock release mechanism. The handle tailgate lock release mechanism is electrical and is susceptible to water getting into it and corrodes the electrical parts. It sits mostly flush one the outside of the hatch where water can get too it. I feel this is a safety issue incase of an accident or emergency if it is imperative to gain access. Also the design of the so called emergency release lever is terrible. Some people might not have a screw driver or something to pry with in order to remove the cover in order to gain access to the release lever. In my opinion (1)the emergency lever needs to be redisgned and have easier access to it. (2) replace the acutator and or the handle tailgate lock release. It could cost owners up tp $400 to replace these item at a dealership," unless they would want to tackle it themselves. I feel it's worth looking into. Thankyou for your time and any help.

Rear liftgate lock release handle Mitsubishi part number 5810a089 (100% electrical) failed due to excessive moisture penatration in this area causing abnormal rust to the liftgate in the same location. I now notice other vehicles like mine have the same rust condition in the same area. I wash the vehicle on a regular basis and I keep it in a heated garage when I'm home.

Traveling at speeds over 50mph or heading into a strong headwind the hood bounces and looks like it will fly open at anytime. Took it do the dealer who were unable to fix it.
The hood of the vehicle flutters when the car reaches 65 mph.
I have had this Outlander since sept of 2021 and the hood flutter is awful. A few attempts of installing weatherstrips and no change. I had the whole hood replaced and it seems as if the whole hood is even 10x worse. Its extremly distracting and can not be safe with the amount of movement it has. This is a distraction and safety issue. No change was made with the new hood. I’m going on a year with this vehicle and it’s problem after problem. The worst one is the major hood bouncing. (yes, the hood is latched properly) it’s just getting worse week by week. I need an answer ASAP. This is not normal and defiantly not safe at all! it’s a matter of time when that latch gives and that hood comes up!.
Was driving through a sand storm at about 65mph. Forward collision sensor had to be turned off as when the wind and sand hit car, the car kept giving warning. Also hood shock aggressively. Was scared that it will pop open.
When driving on highway hood bounces like it isn't latched but when I pulled over to check it was latched. . Scary to drive above 50mph. . . Also, backup screen goes black/blank occasionally when reversing as well as when driving down road. . Dealership says they documented but no recalls on it.
The hood flutters at speeds of 50 mph +. As per the car dealer, this problem has been reported by multiple car owners and is noticed frequently in 2022 Outlander.
Hood flutters on high way. More violent at higher speeds and high winds.
The rear subframe is corodedbut no other part is. It is available to see if needed it won’t pass state inspection and it could break while driving.
There is a hood flutter , weather stripping is cheaply made which is letting in water , leather is coming up seat belt doesn’t retract back in place knocking noise by left driver side wheel seat pockets are poorly made.
Two issues: 1: since the purchase of the vehicle the hood would bounce up and down while on the highway. The service team acknowledged this was a known issue and advised they would resolve. It has been 3 month with no resolution. 2: when the gas mileage drops below 30 miles left to empty the display changes to “—“ and no longer comunicates mileage left to empty.
Both front struts bearing are rattling in every corner or bump stopper when driving. Was notify since the second week of buying and they replace the parts but it get worst. Hood fluttering, gas smell in the cabin when you are park with the a/c on after 20 minutes. Engine lose power the last month and they have to update the computer software. The cellphone wifi charger presented problem and they have to update the software once again because lost signal and wasn't charging.
My problem is the flapping of the hood of my vehicle, this happens on the highway and in the city, this starts at speeds of 60mph or on roads in poor condition, with strong winds this gets worse it looks like it is going to fly away, I already visited 2 times my local dealer where I bought it but couldn't fix it.
Hood flutter at any speed, back struts leak oil now the SUV feel unsafe to drive car shake and feel losing control when driving in the highway, steering wheel is super sensitive quick turns this makes the SUV feel nervous and busy and is making worse the problem with the struts current miles on the car 9,452.
The catalytic converter was stolen. This is a risk the air pollution and the malfunction of other sensors that make cause the car to be unsafe to drive. The part can be easily removed and Mitsubishi refuses to add any safety or security to prevent further theft.

The hood of the vehicle vibrates and lifts while driving, especially at higher speeds, causing alarm to driver and passengers. The dealership did not disclose the known issue when we purchased and was subsequently contacted within days of purchasing regarding the problem. We presented personally and was told rather than replacing the latch and seals like some dealers, our entire hood would be replaced as the manufacturer suggested. It took multiple unanswered calls to ascertain the status so the vehicle could be dropped off, ultimately we had to visit in-person to sort it out due to short staffing. After having the vehicle for 19 days to replace the hood, the new one has been painted twice as a result of defects in workmanship (paint) and is still experiencing the vibration and lift while driving. The dealership has requested we return the vehicle for further evaluation of the new hood’s issues. In addition to the hood replacement, the vehicle was serviced due to ‘sloppiness’ in the rear shocks during the same visit. We were informed they were not leaking or ‘blown’, and an alignment had been performed.
The hood on my 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander se awd shakes at speeds 50 mph and higher. My Outlander was produced in November 2021. The hood shakes so violently that I am afraid it might fly open.
The front hood is structurally weak, causing flexing, bouncing, and fluttering. When driving over 55 mph, it feels like the hood is going to pop open while driving. It is a very distracting and unsafe feeling when driving on the highway.
Hood flutters excessively at highway speed. I don't want to drive above 60mph for fear that the hood and latch will fatigue and strain to keep the hood in place. I fear the hood flying off and causing an accident or fatality. This is a design issue that may be life threatening and is keeping me from utilizing the vehicle at highway speed thus diminishing value and causing excessive fear of endangering the highway safety.
When driving at a speed of 40 mph or higher the hood flutters really bad. It looks like the hood is going to fly open.
High point Mitsubishi in high point nc preformed the recall in regards to rust forming on the underside crossmember of this vehicle. Less than 3 years later this vehicle is immovable because of the exact same reason as the original recall. The technician obviously overlooked areas of which to spray the rust preventative in which caused the structural integrity to completely fail at the front mounting location of the driver side control arm onto the crossmember. This vehicle is not safe to drive any longer because of Mitsubishi's lack of thoroughness in performing and evaluating the situation and the condition of said crossmember. High point Mitsubishi now insists that the issue was resolved even after clear pictures have been sent showing the clear damage and obvious nature of the reasoning of the recall in the first place but argue that they took care of the recall although obviously the exact issue that the recall was made for is thr reason this vehicle is no longer driveable.
