Brake Disc Caliper Problems of Mitsubishi Outlander

The contact owns a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that after he disengaged the parking brake, a burning odor was detected while driving. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that the wheels were hot. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear calipers were corroded and rubbed against the brakes. The mechanic informed the contact that the rear calipers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

A parking brake recall has not fixed the corrosion/locking of rear parking break calipers. Rolls while in gear and turned off-if on incline. Parking brake doesn't engage fully and then sticks but will not keep car from moving. Sticks while frozen or in warm weather.

The contact owns a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would not immediately stop, causing the stopping distance to become extended. The vehicle was towed to the dealer abeloff kia located at 1169 n 9th st, stroudsburg, PA 18360 who diagnosed that the brake caliper was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure was remedy. Additionally, while turning a loud sound was coming from both the front and the rear axles. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,000. The VIN was invalid.

Parking brake is nonfunctional due to parts of brake caliper related to parking brake becoming stuck in place, and preventing the parking brake from engaging.

This complaint is in follow up to previous complaint 11353585 regarding frozen caliper. As previous stated the dealer acknowledged the issue. The reason for this follow up is to report an associated issue. Specifically, that I found it impossible to locate a replacement brake caliper. The caliper was only available thru the dealer, not including labor, the dealer charged $570. 88 for one caliper. I have replaced numerous calipers over the years and have never spent over $150 for a caliper. This is a ridiculous price for a caliper and appears to be monopolized price gouging by Mitsubishi.

Driver side caliper froze. Dealer acknowledged that it was frozen. Not covered by warranty which they advised expired at 60k. Vehicle had 65k miles on it at time of incident. I'm 52 and familiar with vehicle maintenance and have changed many brakes, rotors, calipers. Never have I seen a caliper go bad within 4 years. Definitely a flaw on this vehicle and serious safety issue.

My rear drivers side brake caliper froze last year and currently my rear https://hoodsite. Com/passenger brake caliper is frozen. The other day I was driving and I noticed a constant scraping sound, I was able to jack up the car and spin the tire and confirm that the brake is making contact with the rotor.

Right rear caliper rubs and sticks for a few days then stops after a few miles. It does not do it every day or every time I drive the vehicle. Does it more when it is below 40�. Continues to be an issue, cannot get parts to fix it anywhere including Mitsubishi. Called a dealer 2 weeks ago to order and still waiting for the part to come in.

I bought my car July 31, 2018, 0 miles vehicle Mitsubishi Outlander gt 2018. I have notice dangerous condition on the break system. - first of all, when the vehicle was about 6 month of use the rear break start to sound. When I take my vehicle to the Mitsubishi service department and the rear break pads was worn out with only 12,000 miles. They claim that is my driving habits was what causes the premature worn of the break pad. I told them that my last car I change rear break pad at 60,000 miles with the same driving habits they alleged. At the end, I pay for the pads and the warranty pay for the disk repair and installation. - second, I had an experience in a sudden stop that the abs system did not respond properly and my car slide through the pavement until stop. Fortunately I had enough space to stop without causing an accident. I haven't had any other incident and I can't tell if the problem persist. - third, recently I take my vehicle to another Mitsubishi service department because of a noise on the rear breaks. The technician indicate that the break pads are worn out and the caliper rubber protector is broken. My vehicle only have one year of use and 25,000 miles. My big concern is with the abs system that did not responded properly and I don't have the technical knowledge to determine if the abs problem have something to do with the premature worn out of the rear break pads. 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport was part of NHTSA recall no. : 18v-070 in early 2018. Due to unavailable parts, the recall on rear brake issue and calipers was performed in August 2018. Now 8 months later, when going to get a nail removed from a tire at tire dealer, their tech noticed a new rubbing sound in rear passanger side of vehicle. After further inspection, the caliper that was replaced in August is now seized again.

I bought the car new from the dealer with 6,000 miles on it. July of 2018 the left rear caliper failed and damaged the rotor. I brought the car in and the rotor, brake pads and caliper were replaced. On April 15, 2019 I brought the car in to dealer service this time it was the right rear caliper that failed and damaged the rotor. The dealer then changed the right rear caliper rotor and brake pads. When changing the pads on the left side they found the left side now leaking. The car was at the dealer service from April 15th- may 3rd. They told me the calipers were on back order. What is going on with these calipers? should there be a recall on these defective calipers? I am very concerned for my family's safety. These problems were noticed while driving the car and a grinding sound came from the rear of the car.

Emergency brake does not engage due to actuator lever on caliper being stuck. There is an open recall for this issue with vehicles matching my make, model and year but my vehicle does not seem to be included in said recall. This issue was noticed when the emergency brake was lifted but the vehicle continued to be able to roll while in my driveway.

On March 6, 2018 I was involved in a crash. I rear ended another vehicle in slow moving bumper to bumper traffic. When I hit the brake the car began to slide straight forward. No pulsation from the anti-lock brakes. I was and am very surprised that my car did not stop in time. In the interim I settled my claim with my insurance company. On 3/29/2018. On 3/30/2018 I received a letter from Mitsubishi telling me of an issue they call a "parking break" problem. I have asked several mechanics about the possible need to replace "the piston assembly of the rear brake caliper will be replaced with a countermeasure unit". I have bee assured this could have caused a failure to the anti-lock braking system. Because I no longer own the car I have notified allstate insurance of the present recall. If possible this should be an urgent recall. Sadly I have lost thousands of dollars and a record of 36 years of accident free driving. Please investigate.

My vehicle with VIN # [xxx] has 2 open recall of which could be very serious involving caliper braking, and a corrosion of ball joint wiper. I have been calling planet Mitsubishi and they still do not have the parts to fix the issue. Please help me find a way to see what is happening that these people cant have the issue resolved. My right rear wheel kept making a noise. So I pulled off the wheel to see the brake pad was almost completely gone. I had them replaced an the mechanic said the caliper was sticking he also said it should be covered by warranty. Upon taking it to the dealer, they said it is not covered because I had the pads changed even though it was occurring before with the original pads. Mitsubishi warranty is a joke!.
