Engine light came on steady with the engine bucking, surging, losing r. P. M. 's while driving and stalling after coming to a full stop. (2) O2 sensors were replaced, computer re-programed, one (1) of the two (2) sensors replaced again, with a final repair to a suspected air leak which finally, after 3-4 weeks, cleared the light from coming back on. Now, one month later the bucking and surging is becoming more and more frequent. I'm $1,000. 00 into this problem and it still isn't resolved!! complaint #2: the right rear seat belt does not lock and pulls back out when connected, combined with the fact that the front belts are not long enough for even the slightest of larger persons.

After getting my vehicle back from the dealer for fixing the 4b1 engine drive belt no more than 15 min driving on to the highway my car staled and died luckily I had my foot on the brake when it occurred, I got it to start back up by returning the engine over. 15 min again it preceded to do it two more times.
On October 20th I received a recall to have the drive belt changed. I called the dealership to have the drive belt changed, but they didn't have the parts from the manufacturer yet. I called again today, and they still dont have it. They also dont know when are they getting it.
I received a safety recall notice regarding my 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander regarding the drive belt and pulley system. I made an appointment with my dealship, jerry's Mitsubishi, in parkville MD 21234 and then they cancelled the appointment stating they do not have the parts and have no date when they are to arrive. I tried calling Mitsubishi customer relations 888-648-7820 and their automated system doesn't allow nor can I ever speak to a customer service representive. I have also tried to contact NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 and again have no way of speaking with a representative. So it looks like the only avenue of approach is to submit this complaint which is not only for the recall but to complain about the inability to contact anyone live to complain about the dealship. I sincerely hope this gets attention.
2011 Mitsubishi Outlander. Consumer writes in regards to drive belt system recall. The consumer was informed the parts were not available.
2010 Mitsubishi Outlander. Consumer writes in regards to drive belt recall reimbursement. Mitsubishi stated since the consumer already had the drive belts replaced, he was not entitled to reimbursement. According to the recall, the belt would have been replaced free of charge, only if the consumer encountered a problem. The consumer had the drive belts replaced as under the 60,000 mile maintenance.
This is for a Mitsubishi Outlander 2003. There was a lot of water under the seats, don't know how, and the service engine light is on due to bad oxygen sensor and there might be corrosion in the electrical system, this can cause a fire, rear stop light stop working, the seat belt tensioner can go bad. Took the car to the dealership, and the manufacturer said that I only have 1 recall when the NHTSA says that there's a recall for this,=NHTSA campaign number 03v194000.

I have always changed my oil well within the required maintenance schedule; I noticed an engine ticking noise around 15k miles, and signs of overheating (low level in the coolant overflow container). Dealer checked, found no problems. Driving to work on 9/13/07, engine ticking noise got 10 times louder. A local repair shop said it should be towed to dealer, which it was. Dealer said timing belt slipped; when replaced the belt, loud noise still existed. Removed engine cover, inspection showed valve damage. Technician inspected further, shows oil burned onto engine parts. Mistubishi denying repair under warranty, although all maintenance records meet required standard and car only has 24,000 miles. Never had any warning lights for overheating or low oil. Mitsubishi says wrong oil filter used by valvoline instant oil change site. I removed the oil filter, sent for testing. Awaiting results. Engine needs replacing due to damage, and mitsu is denying to cover the repairs. Filed complaint with state attorney general, in process. Three weeks without a vehicle now, going on 4.
