36 Equipment problem of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 01/26/2024

Driving minimum speed of 65mph and upwards the hood is flexing and fluttering. It appears as if the hood will become unlatched at any moment. Windy conditions make it worse. It is incredibly scary to drive not knowing if the hood will suddenly become unlatched.

39 Equipment problem of the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 12/08/2023

On Dec 8,2023 our Mitsubishi Outlander shut off while being driven. When this occurred multiple warning lights come on including, service engine immediately, engine overheating (which it was not) and multiple other lights. It was towed to the dealership where they told us the ecu is bad. Mitsubishi no longer makes the part. They have also told us this is the 3rd vehicle in the last month with the same issue. Car had no power/electrical /engine issues prior to this event. Mitsubishi is offering no solution to fix the issue. Luckily when the car shut down we were driving at a low speed in a neighborhood. If this had happened on the freeway it could have been very dangerous. We now have no car, no possibility of repair and no answers to why this happened without warning.

Failure Date: 11/29/2023

The warning light starts flashing to alert me it is not active, this happened periodically but the dealer was unable to see it happen. Saw it happening so I went to take it to the dealer but didn’t notice the car in front of me due to the flashing light taking my attention and hit the car in front of me.

41 Equipment problem of the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 11/26/2023

The sunroof on our vehicle, self exploded while driving. There was a loud bang, and then we were covered in sunroof glass shards. The fine dust of the sunroof glass went into my right eye which created minor eye irritation. I was able to pull over. Flush out my eye with water and then proceeded to remove the pieces of glass from the sunroof area because I was afraid the pieces would blow off and hit any vehicle that was behind us for the remainder of our drive home. It scared the hell out of us. I am thankful that my daughter was not driving due to seeing her panic reaction from this experience. There were no drivers in front of us. We were not driving under any trees. It was a clear open rural road. Went to our local dealer. They inspected the sunroof & stated they have never seen anything like this happen. Since I was out of the warranty due to mileage(9,000 over)they suggest I go through my insurance company to resolve this matter. My view on this is it wasn’t so much a warranty issue, but a huge safety issue. Never would I imagine a sunroof self exploding while driving and not causing me to have an accident because of my reaction to it. So with this in mind, I directly called Mitsubishi motors of north America. I had them open up a case number on this issue. The final response back from the manufacture was that I needed to go through my insurance company to deal with having my sunroof replaced. During filing my case to the manufacture directly, they asked me what I would like to have Mitsubishi motors of north America do. I stated to have my sunroof replaced with the right tempered glass. That this was a scary situation and one of great safety concern that no sunroof with all the manufacture testing should ever have this happen. I was very disappointed that they were not willing to take the responsibility of replacing the sunroof properly with the right tempered glass. My insurance company view the photo of the sun roof damage and a claim is in the process.

42 Equipment problem of the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 11/04/2023

I was parked in my family yard and my dash service symbols just came on 5 at once. I have not been involved in any collision or any trauma to the vehicle. Those lights are the fcm, lfw, ahb, and asc service required lights. The fcm will come on go off and come back on. I am concerned that these issues can cause a crash or other issue on road. I have not had this issue before and again my vehicle was at a standstill but it was running.

43 Equipment problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 10/10/2023

On 10/10/23, my boyfriend was driving the listed vehicle home. He had it in cruise control, note vehicle does not have adaptive cruise. Suddenly the vehicle started speeding up and redlining the rpm's, he tried pressing the brakes and it did nothing. He finally was able to put it in neutral and get it to stop. Upon stopping. He tried shutting the vehicle off with the push button, but it would not shut off at first. Finally after several attempts he got it to shut off but noticed the vehicle trying to run other systems on its own while it's supposedly off.

46 Equipment problem of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 09/02/2023

When backing up the rear camera display is too dark to see. I have altered the settings for display from auto, to night, to day, and also adjusted the brightness level all the way up, but nothing changes. It remains the same and you can't safely see what is on the camera display.

47 Equipment problem of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

This vehicle has been deteriorating since around the 10-15k miles. One of the recalls should have fixed something that was happening to my heater /ac not turning on. I would turn on the vehicle and the fan wouldn't turn on. I had turn off and restart the vehicle. This has happened multiple times. The display panel will turn off randomly while driving. The main problem is my car drifts to side. Really bad. I feel really unsafe in it. I had to pay outside company to see what it was and have them continue to align my tires because it gets so shaky. I can't even attach a hitch to this. The car shifts to the sides really bad, even over the smallest bumps at low mileage. Someone from one of the dealerships told me there was nothing wrong with my tires (I asked them to check it when I went for a recall). I was told the vehicle feels different b/c Mitsubishi motor is now made by Nissan. He thought I was dumb or something. I haven't been able to get this fixed b/c idk what to do. Im not hte car expert. They are. I have to constantly align the wheels but I've pretty much exhausted how many times I can get them aligned. Now apparently my shocks are bad? and Mitsubishi won't sell the shocks to an outside auto repair shop.

48 Equipment problem of the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 08/16/2023

Failure of driver side exterior mirror. 3 years after purchase of vehicle the mirror would no longer move in and out. Dealer replaced with oem quality mirror July 2021. 2 years later (August 2023)mirror now has the exact same malfunction/defect. Mitsubishi is unable to tell me why the failure happened in the first place or why it has again happened. Mitsubishi refuses to take any action to fully rectify this issue. They only suggest again replacing the mirror. As the mirror is part of a side vehicle warning system the malfunction creates the possibility of a side collision with another vehicle. Thank you , allen eckstein.

Failure Date: 06/28/2023

Was driving the car and it totally lost power to everything. Had to pull over immediately with whatever power I had left to have the car roll to a stop. Multiple lights came on the dash. Notification came on the screen saying car can not communicate, engine is over heating. Tried to turn off car and back on and it would do nothing at all. Car has been at mechanic for 3 weeks they believe it is the ecu/psu but when replacing car continue to act up and not start.

51 Equipment problem of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 06/08/2023

My windshield has cracked three times I have only had the car for a year these cracks all happened within 6 months of each I do not drive behind trucks I do not have rocks that are coming and hitting it there are no chips and it's always cracking in the same space almost directly in the middle. This has got to be a defect. I have gone to two different places to have it replaced so it cannot be bad workmanship. And twice the crack has appeared overnight another reason I know it's not rocks and I just have really bad luck.

52 Equipment problem of the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 05/21/2023

The touchscreen does not work. This creates a safety issue as hands free driving is no longer am option. There are 1000s of complaints directly to Mitsubishi and they're not doing anything about it. The response is basically "we're aware our equipment failed, go to a dealership and pay to have it replaced" that should not be the consumer's out of pocket cost as Mitsubishi is fully aware of faulty equipment and needs to be held responsible. Everyone's safety is at risk because of this default.

53 Equipment problem of the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 05/01/2023

The touch screen is inoperable so you can't control the radio or aspects of the car such as how the lights, wipers, maintenance, etc. Are set. This is a hazardous situation. I contacted the dealer, and they knew exactly what I was referring to as they said they don't repair the system but only replace and it is $3. 200. My auto was only 3 years old but had over 36,000 miles (the warranty). Why is an electrical component that controls much of the car warrantied on milage and only 36k. They know of this problem.

54 Equipment problem of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 04/19/2023

This letter is about a recent use car purchase, the car is a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. I purchase the car on 19 April 2023 at Mitsubishi dealer located in commerce California, I paid cash. The sale went ok until I ask for a second key-fob as my wife will be the second driver. I was told they didn't have a second key-fob and one would not be supplied because the vehicle is sold as is. I was not pleased about this as I paid more than $38609. 00 cash for the vehicle. I pushed back, the dealer would not relent. I purchased a key-fob at Mitsubishi redondo beach California, I was told that the key-fob would have to be paired to the vehicle and that would be billable. I was really angry when told this, but had it be done anyway. My feeling was I paid a lot of money cash and I was being treated like my money didn't mean anything now that they have it. I spend four hours at Mitsubishi redondo, I was told that that could not pair the key-fob because they didn't have the updated software. I was told to go back to Mitsubishi commerce and have it done there. I return Mitsubishi dealer located in commerce California to have the key-fob paired. I spent more than four hours waiting for the repair. I was told that the newly purchase key-fob was defective, and to return the original dealer for replacement. I went back to Mitsubishi redondo beach California for replacement key. I was told that it would take about a week. I waited two weeks and never got a response, I called the dealer to get an update, I was told the key had arrived. I asked why I was not informed, I got a runaround about being busy. This the typical response I got when trying to communicate with Mitsubishi. They started the repair three hour later I was told that it couldn't be done because they didn't have the latest software. I ask when would it be available, I was told it could be tomorrow or the next day or next week. They said they would keep me updated. They never call with an update.

I was driving speed limit, on a sunny day, when my car began to veer to the left. I eased back into the right lane and suddenly the car made a quick jerk to the left; then, another to the right. I slid on the bank and missed the ditch before becoming airborne and landing in a corn field. I was able to drive to a safe location when the traction control light appeared on the dashboard.

60 Equipment problem of the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 03/03/2023

After reversing out of say the drive way or parking spot there is a thump noise after putting the car into drive and proceeding to go. I have taken it to the dealer and they state multiple people are experiencing the same thing and that they have been in contact with Mitsubishi about it and they say it is normal. I have never had this happen in any vehicle I have ever owned before and for it to be told to me that multiple people are experiencing this is not very satisfactory. And should be something they look into. Another issue I recently brought to the dealers service department is the ac has a foul odor after the change of the filters. And that it smells like stagnant water or mildew and again I was told the same thing that it is common. Why would I want to ever purchase another Mitsubishi if they are saying all this is common among their brand. Seems to me the unit collecting the fluid that then gets drained from the unit when sitting still is just collecting and going stagnant and causing the smell. I have a warranty on the vehicle however everything is a normal thing people have going on with their vehicle. Seems they don't want to put in the work until say the warranty is expired. A warranty they offer along with the extended warranty to cover bumper to bumper items I purchased. Ac problem is what it is it's not a safety concern but the thump in the tire after reversing seems like it should be a recall of something to do with the suspension and I don't think it has been investigated as it should. Who is to say I'm on the interstate driving and get in an accident that not only effects myself but others.

61 Equipment problem of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 02/21/2023

Nothing but issues with the safety of this vehicle since I purchased it. Hood flutters while driving. Backup camera stops working. Audio stops working. Front end collision sensors constantly say they're blocked and can't function even when the car is clean amd its sunny outside. The dealership says they can't ever reproduce any of the issues when I take it in. They did replace the hood but it still seems to flutter a bit when driving above 50 mph. All 4 tires have severe edgewear and the vehicle doesn't even have 17000 miles on it. I have had nothing but issue after issue with this vehicle since purchasing it in may of 2022.

62 Equipment problem of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

66 Equipment problem of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 09/30/2022

Received recall for infotainment. A-ivd screen may appear blank while in reverse. I did not have a problem with a-ivd screen in reverse going blank. But, after doing recall, now my screen goes out for about 3sec. ( periodically not all time). Would advise if no problem with a-ivd don’t do recall!!! now after contacting Mitsubishi they are aware of this happening to units with no problem. Ask to return to original software was told they will get back, well haven’t heard a thing!.

67 Equipment problem of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 09/05/2022

During reverse, the infotainment screen would go black for about 1 to 2 seconds so I won't be able to see the rear of the vehicle. Vehicle never had this problem prior to being updated by the dealer. The dealer was never able to fix this issue despite being brought to their attention 3 times. They were going to inform the manufacturer but appears it was never done. I have contacted Mitsubishi customer service and they never called me or attempted to address the issue.

69 Equipment problem of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 09/01/2022

I purchased this vehicle in March, 2022. As of January 23, 2023, this vehicle has 15,700 miles. I first noticed a problem approximately four months ago. Whenever I go over a dirt road, it feels like the back end of my vehicle is flailing out of control, as if there is nothing to hold it to the road. Because I very rarely travel a dirt road, I just figured this is how this vehicle handles, and I will just need to get used to it. Then I noticed when I would hit certain bumps or uneven spots in the road, I would rock back and forth. Again, just figured it was something I would have to get used to. I had already noticed that it hydroplaned worse than any vehicle I had ever driven, but blamed it on the type of tire which it had, and became hyper aware of any water on the roads. Even the tiniest puddle. Then winter arrived!!!! I am absolutely terrified of this vehicle on any kind of snow covered road, even if the road is barely dusted with snow. I constantly feel like I am going out of control. Whenever I have to cross a bridge in freezing weather, it literally feels as if I am actually sliding on ice the entire way across, no matter how short the bridge is. Driving in snow almost feels like you are trying to drive with a flat tire. You can not drive this car over 40mph on any road condition other than dry. In every instance I have mentioned, I feel like I have control over the steering and front tires, but nothing at all behind the front seats. Just recently, on January 22,2022, I noticed my one back tire is completely bald, and the other rear tire is not much better. I had never really looked at the tires, because, why would I on a nine months old vehicle with 15,000 miles?? I immediately, the next day took it to my Mitsubishi dealer. We were there for an hour and a half. They could find nothing. I was shocked when I looked closer at my paper work after getting home. It stated right on there that excessive wear on the rr tire has been a common issue on these vehicles.
