We search our database for car models that have the most improvement in reliability. Ford Explorer came out on top of our list.

Drastic decrease in total number of problems reported

Table 1 shows the total number of problems reported for Ford Explorer vehicles built from 1996 to 2018. Notice that the number of problems reported has decreased greatly in recent years.

Most improved in new car reliability

In order to better compare reliability across model years, we use the number of problems reported during the vehicles first year in service. The result for Ford Explorer is show in Table 2. Table 2 shows the number of problems in the first service year of Ford Explorer vehicles built from 1996 to 2018. Notice that in recent years the new car reliability has improved greatly.
