I purchase this vehicle as second owner with 24,000 miles. After a 2 years of using this vehicle on the weekends, I start hearing the 5th gear grind. I did not paid to much mind because it did it now and them, not every time. 4 years down the road, it did it more often and I knew it was in for transmission problems. . About a week ago my 3rd gear made a vibration and a horrible sound and that was when I knew something really wrong was going on. . Today my car lost 3rd gear, it won't take, after I put the vehicle on 3rd I accelerated and nothing happens. 5th gear still grinds and but still work. It is not my clutch because 1st 2nd 4th and 5th and 6th still very strong pull. . Now I'm driving this car to work, getting money together waiting for the break down or transmission lock. . . I feel unsafe on the road, but I do have to get to work I have no other choice at the time. I hate mistreating my z this way. . . . 49,500 miles on the transmission. .
Nissan has a clutch orifice valve that helps regulate pressure to the clutch. This valve, when faulty can cause a car to lose ability to shift their car into and or out of gear. Nissan is fully aware of this issue with the clutch orifice valve, and has discontinued its use. This valve is not listed in Nissan's factory service manual, nor is it a normal wear and tear part. This part cannot be purchased either through Nissan or it's dealers, nor is it available online through an aftermarket dealer. As a result, Nissan is requiring that the faulty valve (30589-cf00b) be replaced with three additional parts, at the consumers cost. These parts are clutch orifice valve (30650-cd000), tube assembly (30851-cd00a), and clutch cover assembly (30205-jk0c). Nissan will not replace this valve for any consumer, unless their vehicle is under warranty. Given that this is an engineering issue, and not a customer issue, Nissan should issue a safety recall for anyone who may experience this issue. This part can cause severe safety issues to not only the drivers, but any passengers they have as well as other drivers/vehicles on the road. By not being able to shift into or out of gear, this simple $50 oem valve, can cause drivers undue harm. This is simply a monetary issue for Nissan, and is not an issue that any motorist should have to endure as a result of their faults for choosing a faulty product.

My 2006 350z is doing exactly what is stated below from your website. I purchase my car in 2012 and was not aware that this was a problem as I had been driving automatics. June 24, 2011 NHTSA campaign number: 11e024000 service equipment/clutch kit assemblies an oversized clutch disc could cause the vehicle to move unintentionally on the initial start-up, if the driver does not follow the installation instructions and fails to use the service brakes while the hand brake is not applied. Unintentional movement of the vehicle could result in a crash or possible injury to persons outside the vehicle.

Clutch engaged by itself and lost power to the wheels (manual trans). Maybe due to a clutch slave cylinder failure.
The clutch slave cylinder has gone out on the vehicle 3 times since I have owned it. It has cost me over $500 each repair. Others have complained about this. The second time it went out was in a parking lot when I was going slow and the third time happened this morning when I left for work. This is ridiculous and all Nissan wants to do is charge off the wall prices. I'm a master mechanic and the design of this whole system is ridiculous.
The contact owns a 2003 Nissan 350z. The contact stated that the vehicle would exhibit an abnormal grinding when changing to third gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 46,000 and the current mileage was 47,000.
The car at 28,241 needed a drive belt, new clutch and flywheel. Keep up with all required maintenance and know how to drive cars with clutches (35 years). Geico sent representative to inspect the car and noted that it was not the normal wear and tear for this car and agree to repair it. This was after I call Nissan regional consumer affairs office and they offer to do nothing. Kristen found out that my insurance company took care the repairs and only offered to see the invoice after I suggested they paid the deductibles. So far no answer. An investigation should be done on the problems of listed above. Next, airbag was listed.

I have had 3 recent Nissan vehicles that have had serious mechanical issues, 1st 2006 Nissan murano (only owner) 2nd 2004 Nissan 350z 3rd 2005 Nissan 350z which each of these vehicles are over $30,000 and top models of manufacturer. The murano which I had to sell July 2011 due to buying a home and could not deal with the problems that it was having on a regular basis. . . . The 2004 350z I bought off a private seller, it looked good and boy was I wrong the stereo, electrical components, seats, overheating, horrible roar from the rear end, tires, windows failing, need I say more!!!!! now to the car I am currently not using due to it being in the shop for the past 3+weeks, and finally having to drive with the tech to let him witness the defect as I drove. . . . . This has been a huge headache to go through this with 3 new vehicles from 1 manufacturer, and them not accepting any responsibility for. They advised that my clutch had to be replaced and it was due to normal wear and tear. . . . . . . . I don't think so the car has approx 74000 miles I bought with 47198. In March 2011 after numerous visits and calls to dealership they finally replaced the master and slave cylinder at my request because I researched to find many complaints for the same components and troubles . I could go on but I am just f'ing sick of this crap from Nissan and I am ready to blow my top!!!!!.
On that day I was driving to work and out of no were the car stop running I hit the gas but it was doing nothing.
Oil consumption. I have a 2006 350z with 22k miles on and at my last oil change I noticed about 1. 5 quart oil consumption in less than 3000 miles. I tried regular and synthetic oil and seems to be the same issue. Engine is making a funny noise always. Noise is like lifter -type sound. It goes off after 4000 rpms and get worst when driving up hill.
Car would not shift smoothly. Dealer says the flywheel is broken and car needs a new clutch. The car has 3700 miles on it and Nissan will not cover this under warranty. Problem has existed since the car had 400 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2003 Nissan 350z. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle loses speed whenever he shifts gears to accelerate. The engine revs, but the vehicle does not accelerate. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer numerous times, but they were unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. They have changed numerous sensors, the engine computer, and even the water pump of the vehicle. Through online research, he discovered NHTSA campaign id number 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling); however, Nissan stated that his VIN was not included in the recall. He has been unable to drive the vehicle due to the lack of acceleration. The failure mileage was 80,000 and current mileage was approximately 81,000.
I have a 2004 350z coupe I bought it brand new in sept. 2003 assortment of problems that the dealer is unable to fix: 1. Loud clutch chatter while car is idling and also when accelerating & decelerating in 1st & 2nd gear. 2. Transmission clank when shifting gears feels like the tyranny is loose. 3. When car is idling the engine appears to be misfiring and engine is knocking. I have been having these problems ever since I purchased the car and 6000 miles later still not fixed.
