1 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2008 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

I was driving my 08 350z (currently has 70k miles) on the highway approx 60 mph when I attempted to downshift for my exit. The clutch pedal went down and stuck when I shifted out of 6th and the car wouldn't go into any gear. I missed the exit and pulled to the side of the highway and stopped. Turns out the slave cylinder that had been replaced 20k miles ago under recall had gone bad again! even more impressive is that in 68k miles, I've had to have the slave replaced 2x, clutch replaced 3x, flywheel resurfaced 2x, flywheel replaced 1x, clutch master cylinder replaced 1x, multiple trans services, multiple times bleeding the clutch. All work done at dealer using oem parts. This is a known 350z defect and Nissan should take responsibility for replacing the clutch system w/ an improved design before more people are injured or killed!.

2 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2004 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 09/16/2015

Happened in the driveway, fortunately. When the clutch pedal was depressed, it stayed down, and in gear. It was difficult to force the car out of gear. I was then able to manually lift the pedal, and pump it softly to make it stay up. This has not happened since. It is a hydraulic clutch' no leaks, and clutch replaced 2 years ago. The car has been well maintained with only 55k miles on it. Looking on the internet I see this is a common problem, and very unsafe if you are driving and can't get it out of gear.

3 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2007 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 04/13/2015

The car is not safe to drive due to the clutch being faulty. It loses pressure every now and then, and I have to pick up the clutch with my foot manually off the floor. This is very dangerous and should be recalled on all 2007 and 2008 350z's. Nissan changed the clutch slave cylinder and master clutch cylinders from 2007 to 2008, hence only these model years have this problem. People have complained numerous times and they did recall a clutch slave cylinder but even after they did that, it has the same problem. If you replace a part with the same defective part it will break down again and again. . . I've calculated how much it would cost to get a new clutch and replace all the defective parts with stronger parts that people have used and reviewed over a long period of time. It will cost me about $2000 just to get the clutch parts and installation. This is ridiculous for something that has such an important job in a car. If the clutch pedal loses pressure or goes down and doesnt come back up, you can get in a serious accident or even worse, death. Please help us 350z owners and ensure that the manufacturer provides safety in these vehicles. .

4 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2003 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 07/11/2014

While driving I heard a loud pop and felt a slight tremor on the clutch pedal which became very soft then stopped working making my car immobile after getting it home I pulled out the transmission and noticed that the pivot bolt for the clutch had broken off at the threads destroying the clutch and flywheel and after some online research I found out that it's happened to many other people and may be the reason I need to get my transmission repaired.

5 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2007 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 07/03/2014

On 07/02/14 I was driving home from work when I approached a red light near my residence pushed the clutch in and the pedal went to the floor and clutch did not engage almost causing a collision. I was able to slowly drive home to try and figure out what the problem could be. I checked the fluid in the clutch cylinder and it was nearly empty. I filled it up with dot 3 brake fluid and the clutch started to work some but then the fluid leaked out again. The next morning I got into the car to go to work and the clutch went to the floor again. I drove the car to the local Nissan dealer and explained the problem. On 7/3/14 I called Nissan corporation and explained that according to the internet their had been a re-call on the slave cylinder(which causes this problem to occur) and I would like to have my car repaired at their expense. I left my car at sheehey Nissan in waldorf MD with service advisor joe king (301-843-5300) who stated they would have to look the car over to determine if the malfunctioning part is the slave cylinder. On 7/3/14 I spoke with maria at 1-800-647-7261 ext 457390 claim# 14882551 (Nissan corp) she advised that they would have to confirm the issue through the dealership and then the information would be forwarded up to the regional dist. Office to determine if Nissan would repair my vehicle. Two days later I was contacted by ms luda(1-800-343-6913 ext 457305) from the regional office and she explained that due to the car's age and being out of warranty they would not repair my vehicle. Please review and assist me with a problem that could cause someone to lose their life. Nissan should have to honor the re-call notwithstanding it being outside of the warranty. A recall is a recall acknowledging that the part is faulty and should be corrected at their expense. Please assist. Thank you. Mark griffin.

7 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2007 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 02/18/2013

While driving in traffic along a uphill I engaged the clutch pedal to shift into 2nd gear when the clutch pedal did not disengage as I let off my foot. Instead, the vehicle automatically revved itself up to 6500 rpm while rolling back. As the clutch pedal was stuck there was an absurd amount of burning odor, smelled like the clutch was being burned. I had to immediately turn the car off, luckily the car behind me had enough time to move out of the way. Almost crashed because of this and was unable to drive it from that point on.

12 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2008 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 01/31/2010

Driving on freeway approximately 70-75 mph, when applying pressure to clutch pedal I realize there is little to no clutch pedal pressure and clutch pedal sticks to the floor and has to be pulled back with my foot. Felt slight pedal pressure at the end of pedal travel and disengaged and changed gears into neutral. Pumped clutch while in neutral to see if clutch pedal pressure could return to normal with no success. Clutch engagement remained the same at the very end of travel and would no longer go into gear. Continued pumping clutch pedal and was lucky to get back into sixth gear with a grind into gear to continue driving on freeway at speed. Still pedal continued to stick halfway or more down and had to be returned back to static position manually. Drove to local dealer since was on the way to intended destination where problem still occurred and each gear engagement being irregular to normal. Left car at dealers service department for overnight delivery since dealer service department is closed on sundays. Clutch pedal is still halfway depressed as left.

I had to work my way off the freeway with out the use of a clutch. I had to stop and start the engine as I made my way off the freeway. 17 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2008 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 05/22/2008

The vehicle is a 2008 350z roadster with 15,000 miles, and the transmission was replaced at around 7500 miles (under warranty) due to bearings that were broken. When the car is brought to mid-high revs in 1st/2nd gear, the clutch will disengage and fall to the floor. This is accompanied by a very strong burning smell (characteristic clutch burning smell) and is extremely damaging to the clutch and transmission. The clutch pedal has to be pulled up manually and is noticeably softer after this happens. This problem has happened 2-3 times in the past year. This problem was noticed in 2007 350z's and has continued into the 2008 350z's. The 350z mentioned in this report was manufactured in 10/07.

Failure Date: 12/31/2007

Recently, I have bought a new 2008 Nissan 350z. I bought the car on Saturday, Dec 29. 2007. On Dec 31 2007, 3 days later, the slave cylinder for the clutch went out. I can still shift but the clutch pedal feels very very weak now. And the "service engine soon" light is now on. I have not brought it in yet, due to it being new years day, but will bring it in on Jan 2 to get it looked at and replaced.

21 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2007 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 12/11/2007

I experienced a safety related issue with my car. While I was driving, shifting from 1st to 2nd gear at about 6,000rpm and the clutch pedal stuck on the floor and it took an unusually long amount of time for it to return to the rest position. The clutch pedal was "stuck" on the floor of the car for about 2 seconds, when it should have been immediate.

22 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2007 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 12/02/2007

Multiple clutch/transmission issues. Issue involves the clutch pedal sinking to the floor and loosing nearly all, or all of its pressure. Clutch fails to return to normal until the car sits until cool. First incident was during normal driving; while going through a interception a car ran the red light, when I downshifted to a lower gear to more, the clutch failed to hold the gear and fell to the floor, the other car managed to stopped but I was idle in the road unable to move. Second incident involved traffic going up a local bridge crossing the mississippi river. The clutch again gave out after a few mins of stop and go. I had to pull the ebrake to keep from rolling backwards and was unable to continue uphill for roughly 10mins. No injuries or damaged accrued from these events, but they were each close calls. I have not yet to bring the car to my dealer due to my work schedule. To date many others are having the same issue.

The clutch on my 2007 350z sounds like it is going to blow up. In traffic I am embarrassed as everyone looks around to see where the noise is coming from. . . I know some noise is common but this noise goes over the radio at a high volume, this cant be normal or safe sounds like its going to crack in half. . .

24 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2007 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 11/14/2007

Having clutch issues. . . Pedal sticks, clutch slips. . . . When taken to repair, "nothing can be done about it".

25 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2007 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 10/07/2007

The car was driving normally and gave no signs to any type of pending failure. The 2007 350z model year has some form of clutch deficiency. The clutch sometimes drops to the floor requiring it to be pumped up but can lead to stalling the engine or being stranded in traffic. My problem caused me to be stranded on the road in traffic until the clutch regained pressure and let me drive on. The problem is that after the initial failure the clutch randomly seems to lose pressure and causes it to be very difficult to shift into gear without slipping. The dealer claimed that they couldn't reproduce the problem and also claimed that there was no previous history of a problem although there are numerous documented cases of the problem.

26 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2007 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 09/13/2007

I have a 2007 Nissan 350 z and during highway driving the clutch stick to the bottom disable me from shifting and stay on gear and it get hard to stop because the car is on gear. I took it to the dealer but they cannot recreate the problem because only happen sometimes.

27 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2007 Nissan 350Z

Failure Date: 03/15/2007

During heavy traffic or moderate acceleration, my 2007 Nissan 350z clutch pedal will fall to the floor, causing the car to lose power to the wheels. The first incident was reported to sutherlin Nissan at 1,500 miles, and the clutch slave cylinder was replaced under warranty at 11,500 miles. Within one day after getting the car back, the same problem showed up, during a traffic jam. The problem was reported again, and after 8,500 miles and several complaints to the dealer, and finally Nissan of north America, the car is in the shop again. The dealer refused to try and fix the vehicle again until I filed a complaint with Nissan of north America. This time the problem became so severe, you could not drive the car in moderate to heavy traffic, without the fear of losing the clutch pedal pressure. The problem started in March of 2007, the first repair was in early summer, 2007, the problem has continued, and gotten much worse since then, making it dangerous in heavy traffic, and is now at the dealer for repair, as of November 17th. There have been so many clutch pedal pressure failures, I have lost count, but estimate the failures have been in the hundreds, as the problem occurs several times daily, during commutes in heavy traffic, which I will no longer drive the car in until the problem is corrected.
