In 2008, my car stated having difficulty starting for a few weeks then my service engine light came on. My mechanic told me it was for the camshaft position sensor. I checked with Nissan and found that there was a recall for 2005 Altimas but my car was not part of the recall. The camshaft was replace. Last week my car transmission started jerking and shortly after the service engine light came on. My mechanic told me it was the camshaft position sensor. I forwarded an e-mail to Nissan asking what was the parameters of the recall as this was the second time my car had this problem. They responded that my car is not part of the recall and to seek assistance from my local dealer. I have dealt with the local dealership in the past and there customer service is horrible. I have read that this senor can cause my car to stall while driving. I am in fear this will happen on a nyc highway, in a deserted or high crime area. Do I have any recourse that would make Nissan pay for this $400. 00 plus repair?.
Last year, I noticed my service engine light had appeared. I had the code checked and it was the crank shaft sensor. I had this part replaced and it drove fine for a while. About two months ago, this light came back on and the sensor had gone bad again. This causes my car so drive very sluggish and go dead when driving at a low rate of speed. I did some research and saw where Nissan had a recall campaign for this part on the same year/make/model of my car. I contacted them and they said my car wasn't covered under their recall and they refuse to help me. This is the 2nd time this has gone bad. I think my car should be covered as well. They told me to report this issue to NHTSA.
Car shuddered and rpm dropped and then came back up to current rpm level. Came to stop light and vehicle was then put into limp mode. Would not accelerate and rpm's would not go over 2000. Pulled over and turned car off. Restarted car and began to try and drive it again. Service engine light came on and vehicle would not shift gears. Tried to manually shift the automatic trans and it would hit hard upon gear shifts but was able to make it home the remaining few miles. . Brought vehicle in to a mechanics shop the next morning and the codes indicate cam position sensor failures. I see numerous complaints and a recall for this under r2022 but of course my vehicle is not listed. This appears to be a common problem and all vehicles should be included in this recall as it is completely dangerous issue that comes out of nowhere while driving the vehicle. I am waiting for the vehicle to be repaired to see if the problem is completely resolved at my expense. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Engine shut down while driving home and making a left turn in rush hour traffic. "service engine soon" light came on. We are only fortunate not to have been hit by oncoming vehicles! long beach hooman Nissan said there was no code when the diagnostic test was performed and although the same thing happened to the technician the next day when they test drove my car, they've washed their hands from it. Service rep said we can contact Nissan north America. We called and got a call center in the philippines. Nissan was supposed to call me on an expedited basis but I have not received a call after leaving 3 messages for tel. 615-725-7569. I am without a drivable safe car and stuck in a phone messaging black hole! what am I to do after only 58,000 miles? do I have to be in an accident and injured before Nissan will pay attention? in addition, the dealer replaced my transmission at the tune of $4000 in July 2013 because of a similar engine stall issue when the service engine soon light came on. This car is still unsafe and not drivable and we wasted $4000 for a transmission unnecessarily, since the same issue is recurring. This car has original manufacturer defects. Various dealers concluded different diagnoses at different times but no dealer has been able to fix it permanently. Nissan north America not only put out an unsafe vehicle, but also deceived me as a loyal customer all these years paying the dealers for bogus repairs. Please help me.
The contact owns 2005 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds the vehicle stalled and the service engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the crankshaft position sensor failed. The dealer was made aware of the failure who stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 62,000.
Summary: I have a 2005 Nissan Altima 2. 5l. The service engine soon light came on and the car was hard starting. I read the code (po335) and it shows it is a problem with my crankshaft position sensor. I check it online, and found there is a recall for this problem on 2007 (the campaign number is 07v527000) of course the dealership said my VIN# was not included how convenient. My next car will be a Toyota.
About a year ago my car began to use massive amounts of oil and also smoke when started. The mechanic could not find a reason for my car to go through so much oil. Ex. Had to put 4 quarts in one day into my car. About 3 months after that started, them temperature gage started running hot, but never showed signs of overheating. About two weeks ago my car started driving really rough and the service engine soon light began to blink at me. When taken to the mechanic is was found that I had a partially blown head gasket. Mechanic said he had seen 4 other cars, same year and model as mine that had the same exact problem on the same exact gasket. I started doing research and found that there were a lot of people with this problem and that soon after they replaced to head gasket, their engine blew. . I've had the car for 4 years and I'm still paying it. I really need some help with this issue.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the service engine light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove to an authorized dealer. The contact referenced recall 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling) but was informed by the dealer that the vehicle was not included. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 104,000.
A few years ago there was a recall on my car for the ecm, it needed to be reprogrammed, I took it in and supposedly got the recall fixed but the service engine soon light kept coming on. The issue kept occurring and I was almost in a few accidents because the car would suddenly shut off while I was driving in traffic. I later learned that the reprogramming caused my sensors to go out and that when it was reprogrammed the sensors should have been replaced also. Most owners including me cannot not afford this and Nissan is not taking on any responsibility, they want to fix half the problem and leave me to pay for the damage done to the vehicle from their malfunctions in the Altimas computers. If I take my car to a Nissan dealership they are going to charge me 80 dollars to hook it up to the machine to turn the light off and tell me that the problem isn't their fault. Alot Nissan owners were told the same exact information the (ecm) would be reset for free but you would have to come out of pocket for the crankshaft sensor to be fixed, if this amount of complaints are identical, then it really means that Nissan corp is ignoring the problem and does not care that their crankshaft sensor is failing along with the (ecm) and because of this some lives are gonna be lost, maybe mine also, cause I cannot not afford to get this fixed and I can't afford to not drive my car.
Bought a 2005 Nissan Altima, 4 cy. 2. 5l on June 18th 2010 I started having problems with the crankshaft sensor, the dealer gave me a discount to get this fix because they were aware of the problem dealer also told me if I get this fix the car would be working fine. I did replaced the crankshaft position sensor, but the service engine soon light kept coming on. . It reads the same error every time, crankshaft sensor. Recently (07/10/10) my car just stalled on highway made a loud knocking noise blew a big smoke --the fire men and police that showed up believe it threw a rod because it leaks oil everywhere. . And is not drivable. Nissan states they reset the (ecm) but my VIN# isnt in the recall for the crankshaft position sensor so I would have had to pay for that. I then was able to get online and see that alot of Nissan owners were told the same exact information the (ecm) would be reset for free but you would have to come out of pocket for the crankshaft sensor to be fixed,if this amount of complaints are identical. . Then really it boils down to Nissan corp is ignoring and doesn't care that their crankshaft sensor is failing along with the (ecm) and because of this some lives are gonna be lost . . As me and my 2 kids faced a stall on highway i75 with many people going well over 70mph. . We could have been killed!.
My service engine lights comes on, call stalls, and cuts off while driving.
My car stalled twice on Saturday, March 6th. The service engine light came on. I took it to my mechanic who said that I needed a new crank sensor. When he entered my VIN number into the system, the mechanic said that my car had a current recall that was still pending. I purchased the car this past August and the dealership did not inform me of the recall.
My complaint is similar to many others I have seen. I own a 2005 Nissan Altima 2. 5 sl. It has approximately 47,000 miles. On a recent trip I noticed difficulty cranking and service engine light remained on. I was 5 hours from my home with my family in the car. It was a weekend, so no Nissan dealer was open or even in the vicinity of my location. After crossing all fingers and nursing the car home, I immediately took it to my normal dealer on Monday morning. I was told the "tech found a code for a failed crankshaft position sensor". The service manager checked my VIN for any bulletins or recalls and found none. I was charged $230 to replace the failed part. I called Nissan consumer affairs asking for reimbursement based on the failure frequency rate of this sensor. After many phone calls and voicemails I was told that Nissan would not reimburse the charges. I asked if the failure rate of the sensor was taken into consideration in their decision - the answer was no. I asked what the failure rate was for the sensor - my rep, the regional specialist, did not have that information. Based on my research, it appears there is a statistically significant rate of failure for the crankshaft position sensor along with several redesigns of the oem part. Nissan does not seem to be taking responsibility for the problem. I am disappointed as, up until now, I had been very pleased with the vehicle and with Nissan overall.
The car failed to start after repeated tries, then finally started. The service engine light came on and stayed on. This happened every time I attempted to start the car. I had it repaired, and the repairman said the problem was with the crank shaft sensor. There has been a recall of some 2005 Nissan Altimas for this problem, but according to the manufacturer, my vehicle is not one of them. The symptoms I experienced are exactly the same as those described in NHTSA recall notice 07v527000.
I have a 2005 Nissan Altima 2. 5sl. Last year I got a recall to reprogram the ecm fixed on my car. My car was shutting down while driving and sometimes when I started the car it would not accelerate. After the recalled was supposedly fixed, this stopped happen until yesterday. I thought everything was fixed, then my car just randomly stopped in traffic and the service engine soon light came on. When I crank it back up and tried to give it gas it would not accelerate. I thought the reason for the recall was to prevent this from happening. I took it to the Nissan who advised me it was something crankshaft position sensor, I was told that this had nothing to do with the ecm reprogramming recall even though Nissan had a recall on crankshaft sensors in 2007. And after reading here and other places I find that this has been a problem from Nissan since 2002. So my question is what was the recall for if it did not fix the problem and why am I being charge to get a Nissan error repaired that apparently alot of other people are having. This is insane!!! does hundreds of people have to die because of this before they decide to do a recall to fix the real problem? will it take a law suit? I think the crankshaft sensors are faulty and need to be recalled. I could have been killed.
I am the owner of a 2005 Nissan Altima 2. 5sl. I received a recall notice that advised me the vehicle can stop running without notice which could result in a crash. The recall notice advised that the fix to this problem was the reprogramming of the ecm. To keep my daughter and I safe on the road, I took the car in for the recall as instructed. Before the recall, my service engine light never came on and my vehicle was running fine. Not to long after the recall was done, my service engine soon light came on. Last week I was driving my vehicle, with my 10 month old daughter in the car and the car stalled and shut down on us without warning. Thankfully another vehicle did not hit us. I took it to the dealership who advised me it was the crankshaft position sensor. After doing some reading I find that this has been a problem Nissan has been avoiding since 2002 and I was not the only owner whose vehicle shut down on them without warning. The events, patterns and failures I have experienced are the same sequence of events that so many Nissan Altima owners have reported and complained about. I contacted Nissan directly and was told that they are not responsible. I paid $285 to have the crankshaft sensor replaced. I thought responding to the recall would take care of everything and we would be safe; however, the recall did not stop my car from shutting down on me in the middle of traffic. I believe Nissan is recalling the wrong thing and dodging the responsibility of replacing the default crankshaft sensors that are causing these vehicles to shut down. A vehicle that is subject to shut down while driving without warning is very dangerous and should not be on the road. I saved the crankshaft sensor that was removed from my vehicle just in case someone decides to finally do something about this. An investigation needs to take place before someone is killed or seriously injured on the road or highway.
Car would not start and service engine soon light on. Crankshaft and camshaft sensors replaced, at my expense. Told my vehicle not included in the recall. They need to expand the recall to include 2005 2. 5s models. It's all over the internet about these same issues!!!!!.
Service engine soon light came on. Two days later, it would not start. Replaced a battery but still would not start. Had to take to the dealer to replace the crank sensor.
The service engine soon light came on sporadically and then consistent with every time my car was started. The cause was a result of the crank sensor, which was recalled by Nissan, which included my 2005 Altima. However, after taking my car to the dealership, I was told my model was not recalled, however, it is the same problem and model as the cars that were recalled by Nissan north America, inc.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle shut down and the service engine warning light illuminated afterwards. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the electronic control module failed. The dealer reprogrammed the electronic control module. The engine light illuminated again after the reprogramming of the electronic control module. The manufacturer stated that the crank shaft position sensor caused the engine light to remain lit. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact would be responsible for the crank shaft position sensor repair. The failure mileage was 52,300 and current mileage is 52500. Updated 09/16/08. Updated 09/17/08.
Before I got the recall letter from Nissan about my computer chip, my car would die while it was running, it was hard to start it, and I kept having this crankshaft sensor problem I had to replaced it twice already, I finally got my computer reprogrammed today July 1st 2008. . Came back home and thought everything was okay. . And what do I know it comes on again my service engine light. . . Took it to the auto shop said it was my crankshaft again. . . I had to replace 2 crankshafts on the same week. . And now I have to replace it again. . . I was reading people's forums about how they were have the same problems before and after the recall reprogramming. . . . We're all have the crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor problems. . . But Nissan is going to charge us alot of money to get it replaced. . . I heard it's been a problem ever since 2002 so why hasn't it gotten fixed? we shouldn't be paying for another defect that it seems like no one wants to admit to or even take a look into it at least. . . . Anyways does it need to take a person to die or to be injured in order for this problem to be fixed. . . . . That's just not right. . . . Thank you.
I took my Nissan Altima in for repair for the recall on it in Jan 08 and when I picked up my car I cb the next day and advise them that my car was not running correctly, it has continue to get worst I was able to get my car in for repair on Aug 20 because my car stalls while my car is in motion and the engine light keeps coming on and off. They call me back on 8/22 and said that it was the speedo cluster and it has been fixed charged 420. 00. 2 weeks later my service engine light is back on and my car is still stalling. I feel as if my car is going to cut off while I'm on the interstate and cause a accident or worst my life. When I took my car back to them and they will not take responsibly for not fixing my car correctly they said that the computer is saying something different now that what the computer said 2 weeks ago but I advise them that I did not bring my car there for an experiment it was taken there to fix the stalling and its still do the same thing. I asked them for my money back so I can get my car fix else where. Sheehy Nissan of glen burnie also says that they think it may be my crank sensor but this is why I took my car in for the recall because of everything that is now happening with my car. I pull up history on the Nissan Altima and a lot of customer are having the same problem after they take it in for repair on the recall the engine light and stalling happens with your vehicle. This is a very serious issue and they are taking it likely. It started out stalling around once or twice a week now its doing it everyday and the light is constantly on.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle began making a loud noise and the service engine light illuminated. She was able to drive to a service station and the mechanic stated that there was no oil or oil plugs in the vehicle. He refused to make the repair. She had the vehicle towed to Nissan, where it was regularly serviced every 3,000 miles. The dealer stated that she needed a new engine and that they were not responsible for the vehicle not having oil or oil plugs. They also informed her that someone had tampered with her vehicle. The contact has spoken with Nissan on several occasions and has been without her vehicle for two months. She believes they are giving her the run-around. The current and failure mileages were 41,000. * updated 12/12/07 the dealer stated passenger window makes noise, and remote switch is inoperable. Updated 12/12/07 updated 03-04-08.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. The service engine light illuminated and the engine revved while the vehicle was idling. The contact was concerned that his vehicle would not pass inspection. The vehicle was repaired for the same failure in January of 2007, but recurred 4,000 miles later. The contact is concerned that the repair will need to be made after every few miles he travels. Nhtsa campaign id number 06v242000 (engine and engine cooling) was referenced. The failure mileage was 57,800.
