The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. While driving, the engine stalled and shut off. As a result, the contact waited a few minutes before restarting the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but the failure could not be duplicated. The local dealer was contacted at 951-225-1309 and advised the contact to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer failed to answer. The failure mileage was 141,595.

The contact stated that vehicle was previously serviced for NHTSA campaign number: 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling); however, while driving at low speeds, the engine stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. The failure recurred multiple times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.
While driving in a small street, gas peddle just stops working. Car just keeps moving at speed of 5miles like in neutral mode but checked being in drive mode. Then all lights start flashing and stops after some distance). Towed to dealer-states battery suddenly died. Bring it home. Then same thing happened - again just stops working at redlight with flashing all lights but clearly battery ok as powered drive seat can be moved. Again towed and dealer stating that they are changing alternator. Appears recall of 2007 - crankshaft position sensor/engine stall or similar nature problem happening again. Very dangerous to suddenly stop on road. Called Nissan- opened case #[xxx]. Waiting for their assessment. Car has been repaired so many times since bought new in 2006 , even engine changed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the crankshaft sensor and the ecm needed to be replaced. The dealer also stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling) , but the contact could not have the vehicle repaired under the recall until the crankshaft sensor was replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,300.
2006 Nissan Altima customer received recall letter and has been unable to get car fix and can't let the car sit and pay car note and insurance* the consumer stated a new engine was installed in the vehicle due to a recall. Three weeks later, the vehicle went into limp mode and the speed decreased. The vehicle was towed and the consumer was later informed that the vehicle needed a new transmission. The consumer returned the vehicle back to the dealer and upon inspection they stated the wiring harness was unplugged.
