At first, the passenger airbag off light always turn on when a person sit on the seat(never turn off). Then few months later the airbag light on dashboard starts flashing with no reason, 1 long 5 shorts.
Passenger airbag warning light is blinking took to repair shop and tech said OCS is bad and needs replacing code b1018 comes up I do not understand why there is not a recall because this is a safety issue.
While pulling into a parking spot and coming to a halt, I put the car into park mode. My foot was still on the brake. Instantly the engine went into "overdrive" and lurched forward over a parking curb and through heavy brush and finally came to a stop after hitting a pine tree. The engine was still screaming and the tires still spinning until I hit the off button. I had my foot on the brake the entire time to no avail. The heavy brush slowed the car somewhat. The airbags didn't deploy. I had several witnesses and they all stated they saw my brake lights on. I plowed approx. 50 feet through the brush before hitting the tree. I was the only one involved and was not hurt. This was thurs. Sept. 28, 2023. It was in a state park and no police report made. Park ranger took down info.
Passenger air bag indicator light has been on for 2 years and have been unable to locate issue. All air bag systems test good except error code for passenger side air bag.
The passenger air bag has failed. If my passenger has an accident, the air bag will fail to deploy and could be seriously injured. When I took the car in Nissan confirmed the bag was not operational. The insurance company was notified. I had the dealership check the warning message.
The passenger side air bag is faulty due to an interruption of signal between the OCS and the air bag control unit. This has been verified by an independent service center and puts passengers at risk. The airbag will not work without the entire seat being replaced. The airbag light shows that the system is “off”. This make and model had a recall issued but my VIN was not included but should have been included.
When I start my car and let it warm up, then reverse then put it in drive, I put my foot on the gas and the rpms shoot up to 3 to 4 rpms, I have to remove my four from the gas then my car is very slow and stays at 2 1/2 - 3 rpms for several miles . Checked fluids etc and still have the same issue with it every day. Also my passenger air bag is always off , no matter if someone who is 50 lbs or 250 lbs it is always off and I can not get it to come on . Finally when using my turn signals my blinkers work but never go off unless I manually do it myself. And I fo not get a warning sound telling me that my blinker is still on . It will stay on for hours if I do not notice it and I am driving long distance.

During the crash, the front passenger-side airbag did not deploy and the front passenger sustained a fractured nose, a concussion, and bruises. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer(unknown) and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 220,000.
Unknown I have a red flashing light on my right dashboard. Owners manual said to call dealership because of faulty airbags.
Supplemental safety airbag seatbelt the light keeps blinking and does not go off this a safety issue I took it to dealer and they said it is not a safety issue. I have a seatbelt malfunctioning.
With an adult in the front passenger seat, the passenger airbag off light occasionally illuminates. If the passenger lifts all their weight off the seat cushion the light goes out.
Takata recall. Car airbag censor not working. Always keep blinking. Gone to coral springs Nissan dealer. As per them whole seat cuisine on passenger site need replacement. They have 2 opinion. As per mr. Brandon only passenger site airbag will not work. As per shia both of airbag not going to work. It is dangers and cost for that is around $ 2100. 00. I keep on changing tyre pressure censor many time. But this is rediculous that such a safety requirements doesn't have warranty. My car has only 66000 mile. My desk board leather is also cracking. Means either end up spending more then $ 3500 to keep running because of safety reason. Otherwise my car is fine and fit. I heardly use 500 miles a month. Can you do something.
I own a 2008 Nissan Altima. I was driving down a major highway one evening when all of a sudden the car begins to slow down. I press the gas pedal and the car seems to go even slower. It was myself and my youngest daughter. I was scared to death. The speed limit on the highway was 70 mph and my car would not go over 35 mph. I pulled over to a gas station and a nice man looked at the car and could find nothing wrong with it. So get back on the way to go back because I didn't trust the car to make it to my destination. It did the ame thing again. So I drove with my hazard lights on all the way home and parked it. Now it drives fine right in the small town I live in but I cant drive it out of town at all, which really defeats the purpose.
Takata recall, got in a car accident and the air bags didn't deploy. My car was a total loss. Were there any airbags in the car??????.
My passanger airbag is not working when somebody is sitting in the seat it is still off when driving, their was an open recall on this but when I call Nissan its not my model.
Dash pad, which also covers the passenger air bag is now cracked, and is sticky. I know that Nissan settled with florida residents for this problem, however, other cars are affected. In southeast texas, we have just as much, if not more heat that seems to be causing failure of the dash cover. We are now afraid to drive the car, as since it is cracked and sticky, we do not know if we will be properly protected with the air bag should we have a problem. This is a serious safety issue, not just cosmetic, and all cars should be included, not just florida. Please review this issue, and get all of us covered.
I have 2008 Nissan Altima. I noticed that my passenger side status light remains off with no passenger in it. I noticed that there was a recall for the same issue as mentioned in the link below. . Read more...
My passanger airbag is not working when somebody is sitting in the seat it is still off when driving, their was an open recall on this but when I call Nissan its not my model.
Since purchasing the vehicle in 2014, the dashboard has been continuously melting and cracking to the point where the glare from the black melted dashboard has severely decreased visibility. Additinally, as more cracks have appeared the car no longer recognizes when a passenger is in the passenger seat and shows the airbag as off. .
The occupant classification system is designed to classify the size and weight of the front seat passenger and, under certain conditions, automatically turn off the passenger air bag. The software is incorrectly classifying the passenger seat as empty when it is occupied by an adult. It happens when in motion and stationary. It happens on a street and also on the highway. It is intermittent when it happens and it cannot be duplicated upon request but it does happen consistently. I have submitted other requests in the past but was told my vehicle was not affected by the other recalls at that time. (July 2011). I also own a 2013 Nissan Altima and just received a NHTSA recall 16v-244 recall notice for the same thing.
Passenger air bag: light stays on when person in the seat. Nissan voluntary recall:pb090/p8242-dealer will check each vehicle falling between 07-08 Altima; fault in seat cushion, dealer instructed to replace each vehicle falling within that range. Nissan refuses to replace or check problem.
I have taken my Altima to a Nissan dealership on a few occasions and everytime I go they say my car is not on the recall list. Atm I have no airbags and I do a lot of driving which is very dangerous.

The dashboard of my card its melting , I called Nissan they say there its no recall but I see a lot of complaits just like mine , whats going to happen when accident start happening when airbags deploy thats my concern.
I hav a whining noise under the hood. Whining noise is louder as you accelerate.
I t-boned another car that had run a red light. The drivers side front air bag did deploy. I was transported to the hospital. The hospital found multipule contusions, sprains and strains to my chest wall, lower back, neck, hands and wrists. My primary care doctor ran additional tests, which found no additional injuries except, both hands had a fracture of the 3rd metacarpal (the bone located in the middle of the hand) and a tear of the tfcc (triangular fibrocartilage complex) in both wrists. Which is located on the outside of the wrists. Since the injuries to both hands and wrists are identical and no other broken bones or soft tissue tears were found on my body, I strongly believe that the air bag deployed to forcefully causing these injuries to my hands and wrists. If the injuries to my hands and wrists had been caused by them hitting parts of the inside of the car, the injuries to my hands and wrists would have been different from each other.
My 2008 Nissan Altima dashboard is very sticky and melting. I called Nissan and make my first complaint 2 months too late was told. Since then the melting and stickiness on the complete top of the dash board is getting worse. Inside the car now it’s also smelling like melted tar, which may represent a health issue when breathing it, and with it the intense glare, reflection of the glossy tar on the front window it’s a severe safety hazard when driving, especially when this also could result in airbags being suppressed which could fail to provide adequate protection in the event of an accident. Nissan refuses to help replace this defective dash board. Last week I called Nissan again. This time because the a/c’s evaporator needs to be replaced. I understand the cost of this would be my responsibility to pay, but because this is under the defective dash board, this one would have to be removed in order to replace the evaporator. Once removed, the melted dash board, no guarantee could be installed again, I was told by service rep at Nissan. A Nissan supervisor told me the same as others and suggested for me to call NHTSA and file a complaint, so they would work on a recall for this. My a/c needs to be fixed. I’m in FL where weather conditions and rainy season it’s next to impossible to drive with windows down. I’m aware that a/c repair is my responsibility but I believe it’s unfair to have to pay an additional 2,000 because of Nissan’s defective material used on dashboards. This is a known concern since others have had the same issue. If Nissan doesn't do right by its consumers and or a recall is issue, there would be many consumers in the future with risks of accidents and/or possible respiratory health issues. A simple search on your page you find many other consumers with same problem. Nissan makes it sound like these are isolated issues.
There was a public announcement of a recall in March, 2014 related to the reliability of gauges on the passenger side of the front seat, that tell the person, as well as the mechanical system, that the passenger front seat airbag is "now engaged" and ready to activate in the event of an accident/emergency. . Following the announcement I took my 2008 Altima to the dealer to ensure I was part of the recall. The dealer is at 3275 sw 8th street, ,miami,, florida. And is called autonation Nissan. The service agent total me, after cursory research in his data base, that while many, many Nissans were recalled in my model year and in my car group, mine was not included. The selection process for inclusion went by supplier, and not just by type of car and model year. To ascertain if my car had a faulty air bag on the passenger side of the front seat, I would therefore have to pay a $150 upfront diagnostic fee, and, if damage was noted, I would need to pay for repairs myself, as my car did not have the affected parts which were provided by only select suppliers. There is a problem. I have noted for some time that when a passenger is seated in the front, right side, seat, a beacon light in a small square box on the dash board flashes on and clearly states: "pass. Off - air bag (x) psg. . 2" the reference from the light leaves one with the impression the air bag, for the passenger is not activated. During a drive, no set time period noted, the light will go off for a while, and later, come back on again. I am convinced that at some certain points the system is trying to tell me it is not activated. . Of all the cars involved in the Nissan recall, how could it possibly be that mine is excluded??? please, please try to get this corrected.
Dashboard appears to be melting. It is sticky and shiny and pieces lift off with anything that is placed on the dash. The effect causes a a significant glare in the sunlight that affects driver line of sight. Deterioration has also caused multiple cracks in dash surface that may potentially affect air bag deployment.
My Altima coupe has a melting dashboard that causes visibility issues by glaring into my windscreen. It is melted and bubbly. Also my passenger seat belt light cuts on and off due to my passenger seat bracket being faulty. I have not heard back from Nissan on a way to resolve these safety issues.
The dashboard is melting and deteriorating. Extremely sticky and shiny. Very glary in both night and daytime driving. It's a real visibility issue. Airbag deployment may possibly be affected also. Nissan agreed to replace the dash but would not pay for the labor cost which was almost $300. This dashboard was constructed of inferior materials and Nissan knows it. That is why they agreed to pay for the part.
