general problems of the 2008 Nissan Altima - part 2

My car is making a banging noise when its started. My mechanic diagnosed as the exhaust manifold. Other Altima VIN#s have been recalled, why hasnt mine?.

The dashboard is melting. The stickiness from the melted dashboard creates a glare that can make it difficult to see at times. This could cause an accident.

My dashboard is melting and when the sun hit it you cant see from the glare from the melting dashboard you could hit someone or run over a child.

Sticky dashboard is causing seeing invisibility.

The dashboard has begun to melt and the glare is very distracting. It is very sticky and gets worse at the weather get warmer.

I bought a used 2008 Nissan Altima, it drive fine for the test drive I started driving on the highway to bring it home it started jerking real bad and then when I got to 40 mph the rpms started dropping so I couldn't go faster then 20mph so I took it to a shop it said the whole transmission needs to be fixed on it , I started doing searches in it said that for those make in models of cars it said the transmissions were bad in to have a recall done.

The dashboard in my car is slowly breaking down. The composition of the materials has degraded, over time, so bad that it has lost its surface texture in areas and is now smooth and highly shiny/reflective. The sun is now reflected on to my window shield and I am completely blinded and unable to see the road, pedestrians and cars in front of me.

The dashboard on my 2008 Nissan Altima is sticky. There is a substance seeping out from the seams in the dashboard that can not be removed. It creates a glare on the windshield when driving and gets worse in the hot sunny weather.

The dashboard is defective and breaking down chemically. The chemical compound that the dashboard is made of is not resistant to sunlight causing it to crack break down and become very shiny. Not only does this admit harmful toxins that can be breathed in by the passengers, more dangerously it creates a glare on the windshield making it difficult to see through the window. This can impair vision resulting in an accident by the driver. In addition from what I understand the airbag is under this piece of equipment which is degrading and faulty.

My dashboard is is falling apart the glare on it is high . . I did some research and in florida Nissan lost or gave in to a class action lawsuit for this issue . . Toyota assisted its customers with a recall why is Nissan not doing the same ?.

Dash board is melted causing glaring when driving from dashboard and windshield.

The dashboard is melted. It has been getting worse over the years. It is a safety hazard so I can no longer drive the car. Nissan refuses to replace it. I have tried multiple times. It is stationary for now. The car also has a foul odor from the melted dash.

My dashboard is melting and it has gotten worse within the last two (2) years. I have trouble seeing the road when it is sunny because I get a big glare in the windshield due to the reflection of the melting dashboard. Also, I noticed I have been getting dizzy, upper respiratory problems and headaches right after I get in the car when it has been parked in the sun, despite a car window shield I put on it to protect it from the sun.

1) clear coat and black paint fading to primer (year 2017-2018) 2) 124,000 miles - transmission whining as vehicle speeds up on streets and highways (March 22,2018) 3) black dash has melted, cant see out windshield while driving facing the sun (2017-2018).

I can drive the car for several hours then after several hours the car shuts down slows down and then cuts completely off tries to restart the car it completely dies have to get a jump start. Couldn't get a reading on the car no codes would show up it's been doing this for several months now. It's very dangerous to drive not knowing when it will just shut off on me and my daughter.

Car stopped, would not start, yellow key light on the left dashboard stays on. Car will not start at all.

My driver's side door is not locking with the key fob. This allows anyone to open my door, but it does set off my alarm. My car has been broken into twice while parked in a secured access garage because they are able to open the door, snatch and grab. I read online that this is a safety issue because drivers should be able to lock their doors.

Dashboard is melting due to heat and sun in texas. Melting glue is creating a severe glare on the windshield, causing dangerous driving conditions as it's hard to see how the windshield. Visibility is extremely limited. Dashboard is sticky and cannot be cleaned or wiped off.

My motor mount,has gone out. It lefts up when you drive it and make a knocking noise, when you stop on the gas.

Had to have ac system repaired three times for the same issue. Evaporator/heater core needed to be replaced twice along with other repairs to ac system. Nissan would not back up evaporator repair.

My dashboard is melting and separating, and it has a caustic smell. I've brought it into my local Nissan dealership where they did indeed confirm that my dashboard is melting, has an odor and needs replacement. I have actually put my fingernail into the melting dash by accident and it has left a mark! I take excellent care of my car, including keeping it quite clean inside and out . I have been in touch with Nissan via email and phone, I was told that my 2008 Altima se is now out of warranty and was given an "OH well, not our problem" type of attitude and response. I am beyond concerned since the dash is degrading and shiny causing decreased visibility due to a glare. My greatest fear is that this melting dashboard will effect the mechanics of the airbag deployment in an accident, as well as the electronics that the dashboard protects. I am dismayed that Nissan can treat customers with legitimate safety issues with a carte blanche or laissez-faire attitude. There was a class action suit in florida because the dashboard melting affected so many Altimas! complaints are not limited to the florida class action suit, there are various complaints from other Nissan owners in multiple states with the same problem. The materials are obviously defective and not meant to last any car owner more than a few years. I fear for the safety of myself and any passengers in my car! my car has 11,000 miles on it, and is well maintained. I take it in for oil changes and other routine maintenance; no consumer should ever have to worry about a melting dashboard no matter the age of the car, or have materials in it that degrade to the point that it causes major safety issues for any person riding in that vehicle. There needs to be a major recall on the 2008 Altima, or any Nissan made with this defective, faulty material. This is hazardous to one and all.

My dashboard is melting. The interior dashboard is beginning to melt and deteriorate creating a glare when driving which is dangerous and distracting.

My vehicle was purchased used in north carolina October 2015 and after about 3 years I noticed my dash became very sticky. In the last year there is now I glare from the dash on my windshield. I just recently discovered this is a manufacturer's defect that was only covered in FL.

At around 11:50 pm Monday August 21, 2017 my son parked his Nissan Altima on residential street in front of a friends house while he ran in for a bit before heading home, about 10 minutes later 2 loud "pops" rattled the home. They stepped out front to find that his 2008 Nissan Altima was fully engulfed in flames 20-30 feet high. At 00:11 the fire department arrived and worked to extinguished the car, finally finding it safe to leave at 01:17. They car is obviously a total loss. I am requesting an investigation into the cause of this random "explosion" of the vehicle while parked. Thankfully, no one was injured and no other structures were damaged (possible damage to the city road), this very well could have resulted in a devastating outcome.

The dash is melting, and has been for years, forming some kind of sticky, shiny residue. This residue causes the dash to reflect off the windshield, making it very difficult to see while driving.

Top of dashboard has been melting. It creates a bad glare in the windshield due to the shiny nature of the areas where the dashboard has deteriorated. This is very dangerous when driving! I can't be the only 2008 Altima owner in NY with this issue. A class action lawsuit was settled a few years ago in florida for this same issue with this same car. I need this piece replaced and the cost to be covered by Nissan because they installed materials that are unsafe because they do not hold up.

The dash as a sticky substance that causing a bad glare. Back rear window as a film on it blocking vision. And car as foul oder when you get in it.

I am the owner of a 2008 Nissan Altima with a defective dashboard due to use of low quality materials. When the dashboards become exposed to heat and sunlight it converts into a vicious, sticky and reflective surface that projects a glare onto windshield obstructing the driver's view, thus endangering everyone on the road. I purchased the vehicle in missouri but came special order from texas according to my salesman. A class action lawsuit was filed and settled in florida because of this reason, but Nissan will not taking responsibility for their inferior quality product for those living outside of FL stating these are isolated incidents.

My vehicles dash is melting and it crates areas that have a very dangerous glare when driving in sunlight. The dash has also become extremely sticky and hard to clean. The real issue is in the glare as it can lead to an accident. Unfortunately the dash was already like this when I purchased my vehicle so I am unaware of when it happened.

Sticky,melting shiny dash and coming apart at seams. There was a class action law suit on this and I reported it on 5/31/2017 . This was confirmed at dealership service dept. But because I live 0. 8 of a mile into GA they will not cover these damages. The car was bought in FL. And I work in FL. Daily. Am going to take this up with bbb. I reported this to NHTSA. Gov several months back and never heard a word from this company and uploaed photos in March when this first started to happen to dash.
