general problems of the 2013 Nissan Altima - part 1

Front end suspension need replacing confirmed by Nissan dealership when rear suspension recall was done. Loud noise when in reverse or backing out with or without acceleration, transmission mount defect.

Sometimes when I'm driving the car starts idling as if I'm going fast that's how it sounds and I'm making a turn and it's sounds like it's accelerated but it won't go as much as I step on the gas it will not go so I got to pull over to the side wait for a little bit turn off the car and let it sit and then I'll go back tomorrow and it's every time this light turns on the dashboard with a car with the swively lines.

Passenger airbag safety light does not light up as it should, shows passenger isn't wearing seat belt when they are. Airbag might not deploy under these conditions. There was a recall for this, took to dealership, was not corrected. Transmission stalls and studders, will not accelerate due to faulty cvt. Causes near miss accidents. Shift lock occasionally prevents car from changing from park, reverse, drive.

Delayed acceleration after making a stop, high rpms when accelerating after making a stop. All above conditions appears to happen randomly.

I feel like my 2013 Nissan Altima 2. 5 sl sedan is/was part of the transmission recall. I purchased my vehicle in 2017/2018… since then I already replaced all the solenoids in 2020 for the transmission and it drove fine for 2 years. Then in October/November of 2023 the transmission code p0776 came on and it was taken to a Nissan dealership in maine and was informed that the whole transmission was no good and needed to be replaced. I since bought a new Nissan Altima transmission that was never used before so, the transmission has 0 miles on it and had my personal mechanic place it in and now in early 2024 the transmission went from driving 65mph on the highway and suddenly dropped to 30mph still on highway with no dashboard light notice at all… so now I have a vehicle that is broken and I don’t know what to do next!!! please advise. I was wondering if my VIN# was one that had the original recall and was taken care of anlready before I bought it? and if I can get any help with this new transmission that is now no good?.

Steady check engine light came on April 25, 2023. Just had oil change/filter done day before. Had tune-up done may 25, 2023. Had mechanic who replaced my catalytic converter and (2) O2 sensors a year ago check my car. Found that the inside of the catalytic converter was melted. They checked for a fuel leak in engine, none found. Replaced catalytic converter and front O2 sensor. As of today, no steady check engine light has come back on. I think a flashing check engine light should have displayed for something as serious as a fuel leak. What if my car caught fire while driving? also, I was told several years ago by a local Nissan dealer that my driver side airbag would need replacing - that indicator light never came back on the dash board either. Faulty sensors? I notified Nissan in TN by mail.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.

Doing 55 or 60 the car goes into limp mode and wont let me go more then 35 to 45 at times its a safety hazard as cars almost ran right into the back of my car if Nissan dont fix the issue I will hire a lawyer and sue Nissan its not worth losing my life or the life of others in my car get this issue taken care of now. . . . I have called Nissan in mansfield about this issue 3 different times ive emailed Nissan and still to this day they have not reached out to me.

My car over heats passanger door wont open from the inside its a latch issue ive told the dealer ship in mansfield and they done nothing about it front suspenction has issues still dealer does nothing about it every since they did the recall update with programing my car its like my tranny slips and jerks.

The original transmission on this car failed and I had it replaced at a Nissan dealership. In less than two years, the new transmission also failed. I was driving on the highway and transmission gave up and the vehicle would not accelerate putting my life and others' life in danger/unsafe. I contacted Nissan consumer/customer service and the case manager was not helpful and literally, stonewalled my concerns. Gross negligence by Nissan about the vehicle owners and their safety. The Nissan Altima cars that were manufactured between 2013-2015 are pure lemons.

Car stalled on highway in 1st lane. Car jerking, stalling, not starting. Found recall on cvt transmissions on car. Nissan consumer affairs refuse to honor recall. States recall closed. Car not drivable. Being fixed at firestone repair. Begged Nissan consumer affairs because of my safety to please fix. Spoke with 2 managers who would not honor closed past campaign!!! told them I am a 60 yr old woman now to scarred to drive car. Had no choice but to have it fixed which I cannot afford.

Unable to engage automatic gear shift from park to drive or reverse. Must use small object, (screwdriver) with brake to place in drive.

I was driving my 2013 Altima with 73,000 miles on the interstate going about 85mph and all of a sudden I fell a sudden surge in power the rpm went from 2,400 to 5,300 simultaneously and the I smelled something burning and my engine died I almost got into a horrific accident but luckily the person behind me wasn't on there phone but they had to slam on the brakes beacause my car was slowing down quickly probably beacause of the jatco cvt but once I am pulled over I am going through my glove box to find the roadside emergency card with a number on it but I found a recall notice from 2 years ago that said that the computer that controls your transmission does not work and I need to take it in to service immediately or damage will occur well when I had the recall performed I had 55,000 miles on the car and that is 55,000 miles of damage happening to my transmission so I called Nissan and told them since they do not know how to make a car and that I almost died in a car wreck beacause of them that they need to send me a tow truck ASAP to tow it to a Nissan dealership they sent me one but they did not pay fore it so 200 dollars later I am sitting in my brocken car in a Nissan dealership and I went in and told them since they can't build a transmission that won't get someone killed they need to put a new one in my car that eorks and of course they refused to do it so I gave it to them and they lowballed me and gave me 4,000 dollers fore the car whatever I was so mad at that moment then I drove my but over to Hyundai and got me a 2020 Hyundai sonata limited.

Complete transmission failure at nearly 122,000 miles in the middle of a major interstate wherein the vehicle could not turn back on. Prior to the failure, there were weeks of jerky shifting, the car was unable to coast, quickly accelerate, or come to a stop without jerking the car until stopped. The idle of the car was unusually high near the day of full transmission failure. After completely replacing the transmission with a brand new one, the car still is having trouble shifting smoothly.

When I bought the car I had to replace the transmission 2 times in one year, the suspension is giving up and the driver seat is always braking.

Gear gets stuck too often to move. Cheap parts and is risky like on a parking stop trying to stop and your gear wont budge. My 2013 Altima transmission has always been vibrating too heavily, between 1500-2500 rpm in cold and exteremely hot weather situations, ever since I bought this vehicle (since Feb, 2014). Now the transmission completely failed and they are asking 4k to replace it.

The vehicle will not start after warm up/driving for a while and then turned off. It will continuously run if engine does not get turned off. In order to start the engine again, it has to cool down, then the cycle starts again. It only happens when hot. It always starts cold or cooled down. Took it to Nissan dealer for diag and they said that is was the fuel injectors, so we replaced them on their advice - but that did not solve the problem. This is issue started recently. This is a well kept and maintained 2013 Altima with the qr25de 4 cyl engine and only ~ 92,nnn miles.

Gear shift is unable to move. It will not move when breaks are pressed. Also, engine dies when car is put in reverse or drive. The engine will also die while driving, and when I go to turn it back on, it only dies when I try to switch the gears.

Shift gear get stuck at parking mode while moving car. This is serious problem at it may occur while moving. We approach Nissan but no help from them. How come Nissan allow to not having recall on this as many owners are feeling this problem. We would appreciate if NHTSA comes in help. We have had this problem going since one month and vehicle is in motion. We are lucky that so far no major incident. I feel that this problem may cause a lot of problem if not fix proper by Nissan. My family and I wore going on a trip after 2 hours my Nissan Altima turn off bad at 67k miles Nissan is not willing to help because it's out of the warranty. It's very dangerous when you are on the road with your family so far from home. It happened in san antonio,TX. This issue can be very dangerous for the passengers and drivers. The auto present a failure in transmission in my vehicle that its in a excellent maintenance. A failure at the highway may cause a safety precaution. The Nissan says that its cost is by $5000. I will end my car payment on next June. I saw a lot of persons complaints about the same.

The car shut completely down while driving (in motion). There where no indicators lights to warn us of any problems. We started it up again and it died again after a few seconds. We have no idea what causes the car to completely shut down while driving. We were parked and started the car a proceeded to exit the parking lot when it just stopped working. Just completely shut off. Unknown reason for the car shutting down.

I was turning right to park my 2013 Nissan Altima and I pushed on the brake to slow down the car to stop and the car suddenly accelerated and jumped over the concrete curb stop. It continued to run upslope to the bushes and over three big rocks while I was trying to avoid hitting the fence in the front and braking it. I continued to press on the brake and the car continued to drive forward and I kept turning the wheel to the right to avoid a fence. The car ran over the curb stop of another parking space about five spaces on the right. The bolt in the concrete stop punctured my oil pan and the rocks ribbed off the plastic shields underneath. I was finally able to stop the car by pumping the brake and wind up in the opposite direction. I checked my foot was still on the brake. My car had approximately 43000 miles on the odometer. This happened at the parking lot of bertelson memorial park in el dorado hills in California. We believed that there was a computer failure that caused the acceleration of the car while I was turning right and braking and tried to park. According to one of the expert, an electrical engineer who has studied sudden acceleration in cars for over 20 years, stated that "if you're turning into a parking space, you have a lot of stress on the front drive system, since everything is based on running through the computer, including sensors on your drive systems, any one of those could carry onto the system, carry on to the on-board computer and attack it. " we felt very unfair to pay for the repairs for the defective product.

Engine has been having problems every scene it was purchase.

I am experiencing intermittent cvt failures at mileage: 45000. Once I was stationary and in the other instance I was on the city street, when I experienced sudden power loss, all warning light came on. Whenever I started my car and put it in reverse or drive it just turned off. After 4 to 5 tries car started. I looked up online and it had symptoms similar to the cvt failure. I went to Nissan service centre twice for the same issue but they did not find anything and said everything is in perfect condition.

My car doesn't pick up speed correctly I have had the car for 3 years the place closed down I couldn't take it back I'm stuck with it and also my compressor doesn't work as well it stopped working a couple months after I got the car I really want something else.

I was stopped at a red light and the car just turned itself off. I turn it back on and as soon as I put it in drive it turns itself off again. I finally get it going and get to my destination without anymore problems. The next day I go to start it and as soon as I put it in drive the car turns itself off, I continue to try to get it going but never did. I get it towed to the Nissan dealership and they said the entire transmission needs to be replaced. I get the transmission replaced. Now 3 months after I get a brand new transmission it's doing the same thing again. I start the car go to put it in drive and it turns off.
