Subject: urgent complaint regarding Nissan Altima cvt transmission and emergency brake system failure I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent failure of my Nissan Altima's cvt transmission and emergency brake system. This unexpected issue has jeopardized the safety of myself and others on the road, and I urgently need assistance in resolving these critical issues. The failure was confirmed by a trusted, who emphasized the seriousness of the situation. Without warning signs or symptoms leading up to the failure, the safety implications are even more concerning. I kindly request immediate action from the manufacturer to investigate and provide a solution to ensure the safety of all Nissan Altima owners. Additionally, I seek assistance from insurance representatives and other relevant parties in addressing this urgent matter, including guidance on replacing my transmission. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to a swift and satisfactory resolution. Sincerely, tayana bovain.

Numerous times since I purchased this car used, the auto brake assist will go off unexpectedly when going under bridges… it almost caused me to loose control of my car numerous times. In addition. The malfunction warning light will randomly turn on even on beautiful sunny days with car being clean.

Please note that I have my car regularly inspected for oil changes and maintenance. The adaptive cruise control stopped working August 2022. The car displays "malfunction" on the dashboard. This was inconvenient and at first intermittent, but I did not think it was putting any persons safety at risk. I went to a local Nissan dealership in NJ and they stated it would cost $600 to replace, but no safety issues. Therefore I did not get this fixed at the time. On March 14 2023, I was merging onto a highway in daylight around 4pm. It had started flurrying, but no changes in visibility. There was no car immediately in front of me. The collision warning suddenly came on and the emergency brakes were activated while attempting to accelerate onto a 65 mph highway in NJ. It was extremely startling. It certainly could have caused an accident, especially when vehicles are accelerating to merge onto a highway. I was fortunate that there was no car immediately behind me. On April 26 and 27 2023, the emergency brake was activated again due to a collision warning while in a parking garage. The only correlation I can think that ties these occurrences is when driving from a shaded to sunny location. All three times it also occurred during acceleration. This new problem is quite concerning and dangerous.
While driving, most times at higher speeds, the light with the car and lines behind it (vdc light?) will turn on, and then a minute later the front and back aeb lights turn on and the dashboard says “malfunction: see owner’s manual. ” this happens multiple times per week, sometimes multiple times a day. There have been other recalls for this issue with other Nissan Altima years with this system.
Automatic brake system malfunction.
Rear passenger suspension arm broke while driving from what looks to be corrosion. Was able to make it safely due to 1 bolt holding in place the car is not drivable. Had I kept driving the whole wheel would have came off causing an accident .

2019 Nissan Altima is experiencing judder when switching between gears at low speeds. Also automatic breaking system (abs) activates when I attempt to park.
I have been noticing electrical issues with the vehicle that have been going unresolved. This is the third time I'm taking it to a dealership. On 15 Nov 2022 the vehicle gave a frontal collision warning with no other vehicles around it felt like the emergency braking system engaged because the brakes became solid as a rock. I had to put the car into park and restart the vehicle to begin driving again. Then on 16 Nov 2022 the car battery was dead around 4:48 pm and I had to get the taco shop's help, they gave me jumper cables and my wife's CO-worker got the car started. Now, 18 Nov 2022 the vehicle is in another dealership waiting to see what they say and the car is staying the weekend to be evaluated.

Front impact radar malfunction. The light on the console would come on intermittently. I took the car to the dealer and they said the front radar was defective and they replaced the front radar. Not even two months have passed and the light is back on. This can cause your car to suddenly stop causing you to be rear ended because the car thinks you are in danger. It affects the automatic emergency braking system. This car is brand new and just went over 10,000 miles. It recently had it's first service and now I have to take it back and get it checked again.
I purchased my car from sheehy Nissan of waldorf on November 1, 2022. At the time of purchase the vehicle had 38,709 miles. It reportedly had one previous owner and was originally titled on 3/11/2021. From the day I purchased this vehicle I have had trouble with the automatic emergency braking system. I am experiencing sudden unintended brake activation in various situations. I have experienced the emergency braking system activating when I am driving at high speeds (60-70 mph) with nothing in front of me. I have had it automatically brake when I am in traffic maintaining safe distances and speeds. I have experienced it braking when I have been leaving a parking garage - again with nothing near or around my vehicle. When this occurs, it is when the warning lights turn off. So, it is completely random and unpredictable. The warning light turns on 100% of the time I drive the vehicle. I took my car to sheehy Nissan of waldorf for repair of this issue on 3/28/23, 6/13/23, and 8/3/23, but, to date, they have been unable to correct the problem. Most recently (8/25/23) I was given an estimate of an additional $1,977. 43 for a 4th attempt to fix this problem. I met with the service manager, tadarryl smith, on 8/28/23 to discuss the matter. He said he would talk to the Nissan area rep and their warranty rep and get back to me. Two days later he responded that the area rep offered to cover 40% of the repair cost, making my cost $808. 96 for the 4th repair attempt. As you are aware, this is a known issue with this vehicle and many other Nissan models. The NHTSA started an investigation into Nissan regarding this issue in September 2019. There have been multiple lawsuits and class action suits against Nissan for this same problem, yet they continue to sell these vehicles without fixing the problem or issuing a recall.
The issues began in June 2022. Since then the automatic emergency brake has stopped my car 6 times on the highway. I was scared to death. Transmission will not go into drive all of the time. This vehicle is dangerous. Has been in for repairs 3 times and out of service for over 30 days. I have been in touch with 2 Nissan representatives since the beginning. Other Nissan vehicles have had the emergency brake issues before. I really am praying maybe it's just my vehicle that is affected. These things do happen. I have asked Nissan to buy the car back. Praying they will. I can not drive a death trap.

08/24/22 driving on a three lane highway with no cars in front of me in any lanes, no pedestrians, animals or any obstacles going 50 mph, the car just stopped and the forward collision warning activated and the car stopped. Took the car in to the local dealer 09/08/22 where technician noted they could not replicate the issue on test drive. Dealer service pointed the issue to 12/2021 accident and wanted to charge me $2,020 to fix. Car has less than 17k miles and is under warranty.
I have Nissan Altima 2019 sr. It has an automatic front emergency brake system that brakes when the car is close enough to save from an accident to occur. But it did the opposite means it risked my life by braking in the middle of the road in traffic even if no cars are in front of me. I was saved a couple of times because there were no cars around me when it did that. But it seems very dangerous and risking life and other around my Nissan car. I contacted customer service, they told me I have to pay for that repair. It is ridiculous. How to find justice on this issue? is this a way these car companies make faulty systems and risk human lives? do I deserve this? please help me to solve this problem.
Automatic emergency brake engaged on interstate stopping my vehicle. This happened 4 times. 2 of which were on highway. I was extremely blessed that I wasn't hit by other vehicles. No warning lights. Mold in vehicle from manufacturer defect. Carpets replaced but interior of vehicle was not disinfected by dealership. Mold is airborne. Car does not go into gear all of the time. It will flash d for drive on instrument panel but car will not move when gas pedal is pressed. This has happened several times as well.
My fiancé and I were driving late at night on a straight, one lane road going just over 40 mph with nothing in front of us. For no reason the pre-collision front sensor went off indicating we had the potential of hitting the vehicle in front of us even though there was nothing there. Moments later the dashboard went white showing a red triangle and the automatic braking system came on engaging all the brakes and abruptly reducing the vehicle's speed to approximately 15mph before it disengaged. That this time we had no control over the speed of the vehicle and could only steer the car to the side of the road. Had another vehicle been behind us there would have been an awful accident where us and the driver behind us would have been injured as there is no way anyone could have anticipated such an inappropriate speed change at that time. I brought the vehicle into the dealership days later. They could not duplicate my concern. They found past trouble codes of c1a16 & c1a17 on the vehicle's history. They recommended calibrating the distance sensor and road tests but were not confident this would fix the problem and stated a new sensor may need to be purchased. Upon experiencing this traumatic event in my Nissan vehicle I posted my experience on facebook and had 3 people I personally know reach out to me saying they experienced similar events in their Nissan. All the people had 2017 or newer Nissans vehicles that included the sentra and rogue models. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem appeared prior to the failure besides the pre-collision sensor incorrectly coming on as described above. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
The forward aeb system warning light illuminated at 47,124 miles. I parked the car, turned it off and then restarted it and the light remained off for about 5 miles before re-illuminating and remaining on continuously. While I was driving, the car began braking at random times when there was no vehicle in front of me, and would decelerate to 40mph sporadically. I ended up pulling over on the highway and having the vehicle towed to my office until I could afford to have it taken to a Nissan dealer. I purchased the vehicle used on June 8, 2022 and this malfunction first occurred today, June 13, 2022. Per the service records, there is no other notification of this malfunction occurring prior to this incident.
Hello, please see all attached documents and call me for further details and assistance prior to investigation. I appreciate your time and assistance. Thank you.
A warning indicator comes on and flashes in my Nissan Altima 2022 I've called told them and I had a electrical short and sparked and smoke came out of my air vents and I told and told them some thing was wrong with my car if it has to do with ace line and dash why did it smoke and caught a fire in my ace dash and. I just put it out my self and no response to get my vehicle replacement under my manufacturing warranty.
The car regularly automatically slams on the brakes for no reason when there is nothing ahead of me. While in parking garages, turning on divided highways and worst of all while crossing railroad tracks. Dealership just brushed off my concerns because it wouldn't do it for them, and I don't think they checked my car at all. I also get a collision system malfunction warning, sometimes while driving and other times while sitting still. This is dangerous, one day I will either be rear ended or god forbid hit by a train.
Forward emergency braking/collision warning - activated without cause or other indication - the vehicle suddenly applied brakes - then released them - two occasions - on 01/21/2022 a new castle county police department vehicle following me swerved into adjacent lane to avoid collision dealer service was unable to replicate event/s - no other vehicle inspections. No other previous indicators or warnings, second event occurred on 01/23/2022 at about 30 mph.
Formal demand for vehicle repurchase/ buyback due to critical safety defect- vehicle breaking on its own while driving I am writing to file a formal safety complaint and to demand immediate corporate intervention regarding an extremely dangerous mechanical/adas defect in my vehicle that Nissan has failed to repair since I purchased it in 2021. My Nissan Altima has serious, ongoing safety issues where the vehicle will unexpectedly and aggressively apply the brakes on its own while I am driving, including on highways and regular roads. This defect happens without my input, without warning, and creates a major risk of being rear-ended, losing control of the vehicle, or causing a serious accident. This issue is not minor. It is a life-threatening malfunction that makes the vehicle unsafe to operate. I have taken the vehicle to authorized Nissan dealerships for diagnosis and repair on multiple occasions: repair dates 2021-2025 at passport Nissan of alexandria 150 s pickett st alexandria, va location despite these visits, the problem continues. Nissan’s failure to diagnose or repair this critical break/self-braking issue over several years constitutes: •failure to remedy a known safety defect •breach of warranty •violation of consumer protection laws •negligence regarding driver and public safety a vehicle that breaks on its own, especially at highway speeds – is not safe, not reliable, and not roadworthy. Because Nissan has had more than a reasonable opportunity since 2021 to correct this defect and has failed to do so, I am demanding that Nissan: 1. Buy back the vehicle at an amount equal to the remaining loan balance. I do not want to do any upgrade trade ins. This situation has gone on for years and the vehicle is now a clear danger to me and the public and my two minor children who ride in the car with me. I am requesting immediate action and a good-faith resolution.
While driving home from work I experienced my fourth or fifth malfunction error flashing across my digital display. It scares me because this time is different. This time the flash made the seat vibrate and before I had a chance to react, I totally lost control of my steering even though I had my hand family placed on each side of the wheel none of my maneuvers resulting in the tires moving in any direction. I was trying to straighten myself out but the trajectory steered me to the right side of the road and up over the curb which tore out my front end and, had it not been for my superb braking skills, id be headfirst into a big cement hole on the side of the road. Brakes we’re locked out until I pressed on them 15,000 times it seems. Fortunately I am the only one hurt, I’m grateful that no one else has been involved in this malfunction of supposed quality machinery. But this is a ridiculous thing to have happened to listen 1000 miles in the car, this thing has been malfunctioning since the first day that I drove it off the lot. No clue who to get in touch until I started researching this very same thing, and I am terrified for anyone else driving one of these vehicles right now, because it can totally happened to you, and you may not be so lucky to have all the injuries only for yourself.
Latches, locks, linkages, hood. Recall number 372379.

I bought the car in Nov. 2021. I was at a store parked I put the car in reverse ,the car started to move, it made a lot of noise and it stoped. There was nothing behind me. This has happen about four times backing out of my driveway a lot of noise and the car stops. I took it to the dealer once and they told me that they could not find any problems.
I was driving to work and all of a sudden the warning came on for the front radar malfunctioning. I have taken my car to the dealership where I get the oil changes and was told that Nissan would not cover it. I was told I needed a front distance bracket and quoted almost $800 for repair. The rep told me that the mechanic said I had a aftermarket bumper on my car and I explained that my car was in an accident twice in the months of April and may. But that should not be the reason of the problem because the light was never on my car when both accidents ocurred and after repairs. We are in the month of September why would it be on now? this is my only source of transportation and I feel for my safety with this car that something else could happen while I'm driving and I pray that it don't. The same day it started malfunctioning a small animal ran under my car. It has been times that while on the highway othere drivers would cut me off or get to close and my sensor want alert me. Thank goodness I be watching the road.
At certain times the front impact radar will say it is blocked or not functioning. Twice it has actually applied the brakes with nothing in front of it. Now the air bag light is on and will not go off.
I have had my cars rear brakes completely replaced once in the last 6 months and completely replaced the front brake system twice in 6 months. I’ve had to pay close to $4000 in repairs on only the cars front end so at this point any part that could be causing the excessive wearing out of my brakes could not possibly be doing so without me knowing about it from many inspections (mainly done by different les schwab locations and my local Nissan dealership in salem, or). For some reason within a month of having the brakes replaced, they have began to squeal worse than ever before, I’m not exaggerating when I say that my 2008 Altima has brakes that are almost twice as loud as any city or school bus brakes that I’ve ever heard in my life. Something within the brake system is causing all these brand new parts to wear down to metal on metal screeeching.

The forward emergency braking system periodically will engage with no reason. I did not record the first date this happened. It was in July 2021. This first happened not long after I purchased the car last year on the interstate in heavy traffic with low speed and nothing close enough to set it off. Sometimes just the emergency light will just appear and disappear quickly and sometimes it comes on and the brakes go on. The dealer service and the regional technician has inspected it a few times and could find no error but it only happens sporadically. I checked recently and there is a class action suit against Nissan for the same problem in tennessee. There seems to be the same problem with other models from 2019 to present.
Driving at maybe 10 -15 mph in an empty parking lot about to park and car aggressively brakes for no reason. Completely startled and unsettled me its a good thing no one was behind me.
The automatic emergency braking system continuously brakes and slows the car down when driving. One particular incident happened on 6/15/2021 when I was travelling at 45mph and there we cars behind me. The system beeped as if it detected a crash and then stop the car. There were no other cars in front on me and I almost got into an accident because of the sudden braking. There were no warning lamps, messages, or anything else that would prompt the vehicle to immediately break. It has done this 3 more times in the last two weeks and its hazardous to me and other drivers on the road. Now every time I put my vehicle in drive it says aeb malfunction and the vehicle no longer detects forward collisions or any passengers. I haven't taken the vehicle to the dealership yet; however, I had an oil change and when the dealer inspected my vehicle they said everything was in good shape. I'm not sure how this was missed.
2018 Nissan Altima 24,864 miles. Forward emergency braking (Feb) system keeps turning on and off. Contacted dealership and they said it was a dirty bumper/sensor, clean sensor location and continue to use vehicle. If issue persisted set up appointment with dealership to have looked at. Cleaned front bumper and continued to operate. Feb lamp continued to indicate error and turn itself on and off. Set up appointment of have vehicle inspected. Dealership confirmed that sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. The Feb sensor was not covered as warranty expired 18 days before dealership diagnosed problem. Informed them that contacted the dealership prior to the warranty expiration and was told it was a dirty bumper and sensor. Contacted previous owner of vehicle and confirmed that they had reported issue and dealership and informed them to just clean bumper and sensor location. Nissan did not see the Feb sensor error as a concern but there were two other factory recalls (hood latch and back up camera) that were safety concerns and recalls for. With Feb being faulty, the safety feature is disabled and would not help prevent injury in an emergency braking situation!!!.

Just purchased used from Nissan and warning for afb failure keeps coming on. After a quick internet search I am concerned about safety.
I will see a warning notice in my dashboard while I'm driving on city streets and sometimes on the highway, during clear weather and rainy weather that says front end collision undetectable and my rear collision camera will sometime either have vertical lines or go completely out. This was supposed to have been fixed by musiccity autoplex in nashville, TN in late October of 2019.
I have had two separate incidents 8 months apart. While driving in the city limits on both occurrences going about 45 mph both times, without any notice or potential collision the aeb engaged, and a red flash came across my dashboard. The first time it was just me in the car with very little traffic around me, whereas with the most recent occurrence the traffic was heavier. I had my mother and 2 young children in the backseat, with a truck that looked like a f-150 not far behind me. I have been to the dealership that I bought the car from, and I have twice gotten the results that they are unable to duplicate the problem, so I guess it can't be rectified. Thankfully I have not had an accident, but driving the car in that condition raises the risk of a collision, and I'm done with that risk.
