4 Engine Noise problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/28/2019

I have a 2014 Nissan Altima that revs up while I;m driving and then stops. I turn it off and start it again. It does this constantly. It's very dangerous because I'm driving and all of a sudden, I hear a revving up sound, the car starts to hesitate,, it slows down and then comes to a complete stop. It doesn;t give me a chance to pull off the road. I have to immediately put on my hazard lights. It stops without warning. Once I hear the revving up sound, within a few seconds she hesitates, slows down and come to a complete stop. Very, very dangerous. The car hesitates when making turns also. Car does not accelerate if you stop at a light like she suppose to. Let me explain. When I'm at a red light and the light turns green, I put my foot on the gas and the car does not accelerate, she hesitates, go slowly, then kicks in and allows you to proceed. I'm very afraid to drive it. I have heard others and on the news say peoples experience with their Nissan Altima shutting down just like mine. For me its shutting down everywhere. It's happened on the highway, street, always when in motion, during turns, after stopping at a red light and its time to proceed. I've almost gotten hit by other cars many times when she suddenly stalls. Something is wrong with this vehicle. I don't have video of incident because it hasn't had an accident yet, but I'm sure an accident can happen at any day. I'm nervous every time I drive it. It's the mercies of god that I haven't had an accident. Please note I was almost in an accident that would have badly injured or killed me when I was making a left turn on hwy 78. The car stalled while making a left turn. The SUV almost hit me as I was making my left turn and the car stalled and the SUV stopped just as it was about to hit me. I was shaken up so badly, I had to park my car and calm my nerves. This shouldn't be happening. It's a dangerous car.

7 Engine Noise problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/22/2017

I have been having chronic issues with engine on my 2016 Nissan Altima. Initially (11/2016), the car would "jump/skip" when I would try to accelerator and even feeling like it was going to cut off on me. When I called I was informed it was due to defect and it was on recall. The issues appeared to resolve until 11/2017 I started experiencing the same issue but worse and was not able to accelerate while I was driving to work and back home. This occurred on florida turnkpike and local highways. Cars were hooking at me because I was not able to proceed when light turned green, even though I was flooring the car pedal. When I took the car to the shop, I was informed it was my transmission and they had to rebuild it. Afterwards, I continue to have problems with the car cutting off on me and acceleration issues. I brought it back, and I was told it was the crank sensor. They replaced it but know the engine continue to sound like it is working overtime to perform and make a constant high pitch sound. I am bring it back to them a 3rd time to investigate.

10 Engine Noise problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/12/2016

While driving in any condition or weather, my car shutters and make a loud vibration noise which is also felt inside the car whenever the rpm reaches 2000 rpm. It only does it on exactly 2000. Above or below its fine. Ive been to two different Nissan dealerships for the past two years of owning it and they tell me its normal. In colder weather its a lot worse. You can play with the rpm and everytime it will vibrate and you can hear and feel it at 2000 rpm. But both dealers say they cant find anything and that they don't notice it. That worries me when a 5 year old asks me what that noise and feeling is but a certified mechanic cant find this problem. Its loud and clearly you can feel it. This is ridiculous. All I want is for it to be fixed. If not I'm never buying another Nissan product. Ive had the worst experience with this brand and ive owned a lot of brands. Nissan needs to fix this and spend more money on training. This has been going on for 2 years that ive owned this car.

11 Engine Noise problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

I need a new transmission at 126,000 miles! car began making noise as if it was stuck in a gear, it became sluggish as I was trying to accelerate, the car would not accelerate. Drove it to sheehy Nissan a few days later and was told that I would have to call consumer affairs because I was outside the extended warranty of 120,000. My mileage was 126,000. Received call from sheehy service specialist leo saying that it would be fixed free of charge. The next day received another call from service specialist and was told that it was not approved by consumer affairs for repair. I called consumer affairs and was told that I would receive a call on Friday, sept. 18 from Nissan's regional specialist, quinashay, that more information was being gathered from sheehy Nissan. Received call from quinashay saying that there was nothing nisan could do for me because I was outside the extended warranty period! this is my third Nissan purchase from Nissan stanza to a couple of Nissan Altimas, always upgrading. I've been a loyal Nissan customer and for what! never thought I would be treated this way.

12 Engine Noise problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/27/2015

We purchased the vehicle from a private individual. It had 105000 miles on the odometer, it is a 2003 Nissan Altima with a 2. 5l (4 cylinder engine) shortly after purchase. . We noticed a very foul smell coming from the exhaust and into the passenger cabin. Also the engine consumed 1 quart of oil per 50 to 60 miles. No exaggeration ! I discovered a recall on the Altima concerning it's precat/catalytic converter could over heat, break into pieces and some of the pieces could be sucked back into the engine, scoring the cyclinder walls and causing excessive oil consumption. I emailed Nissan with my concerns. They assigned a case # to my concern. They asked for a Nissan dealer to evaluate the problems and give them a formal diagnostic of the issues. The Altima had a new catalytic converter installed in 2007. A oil consumption test was done on the car and the oil topped off and we were told to come back in 250miles so they could check the oil. In 160miles we returned and there was no oil on the dip stick! also the check engine light was on and a code for "catalyst" problems was in the computer. This was all sent to Nissan via email. Now instead of a rep. Handling the issues. . They have sent it to a regional rep. And we are awaiting their "goodwill" decision. That year Altima and engine has repeat issues even after recall repair. Tpart of the recall states that if the owner does not check the oil often and ignores engine noises that it could result in a fire! supposedly a exhaust hanger catchs debris and causes the fire??? lol who are they kidding?.

13 Engine Noise problem of the 2001 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/18/2014

I was driving from work when I heard a cranking/squealing sound coming from the rear passenger side, I stopped and checked could not find anything, but noticed that anytime I stepped on the brakes/make a turn the sound will come on, took it to a mechanic who told me it was the motor mount and also that the brakes were been affected and I could not drive more than a certain mile on the highway. Also the engine light keeps coming on my dashboard, after several repairs to whatever the problem was, it;s still on, now no one can tell if it is related to the issue car had or not, the headlights on the car hardly come on properly, even if I put them on full light, it's still looks dim and I can see with them at night when am driving, the heat suddenly comes on even without turning it on, am really scared now cause I don't want to get in an accident. Nissan needs to do something anout all this complaints especially with such high recalls .

14 Engine Noise problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/04/2014

My 2006 Altima started making a tick sound around 80,000 miles and around 115,000 miles in 2014 my engine failed. While at a red light my engine sounded like I had rocks in a tin can. My engine was still under federal warranty but Nissan wouldnt help me because they said I should have brought the car in but I was out of dealer warranty so I didnt know. I asked them about the excessive oil consumption recall and they said my car was not part of it but after months of research I concluded that it was due to my efn being listed under the recall information report provided by Nissan, they still didn't acknowledge my issue. I ended up replacing the engine myself in 2014 for a total of $3600 and $1000 for labor and have been driving it since. I called Nissan, I submitted my complaint by mail and I told them my engine was under warranty until 150,000 miles federally (I had 120,000 at the time) but they just overlooked my complaint and never did anything about it.

15 Engine Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/10/2012

On Aug. 10th we recd an email from the empire Nissan fleet mngr [xxx]. He stated that they needed to have the car back and would pay our first mth pymt and give us a replacement car of like kind and quality. They would not tell us why the veh needed to be returned. We notified corp Nissan consumer affairs dept and they contacted empire Nissan. They finally advise that the reason they need the veh back was because there was an open campaign on it with a single recall. We agreed to return it for the repair. We took the veh back to Nissan and later on that day, we were notified there were 10 recalls found on the veh! at this point we realized that was why they wanted to swap the veh. They agreed to give us a rental car during repairs. We picked up the veh & as soon as we left, there was a constant buzzing noise coming from the car, there was a lot of road noise and whistling from the windows, the engine was loud. We called the gm [xxx] & ask them to buy the veh back & they told us that we were asking too much and that we are acting like we are the victim. We also called the svs mgr, [xxx] to make have the veh serviced again. He was rude and said he didn't want to get in the middle of this with the manufacture & to not bring the veh in to them for svs & they will not be providing a loaner nor a rental for us. He stated he would have an engineer come out to look at the veh to determine the cond. We have heard nothing. Nissan has been evasive and has not been honest with us. Knowing that veh had several mechanical issues, they allowed us to cont to drive this veh and put us in danger with no regards to our safety. Just a day ago we saw on the news there are now two more recalls on our veh. Now a total of 12 recalls on a brand new car! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

17 Engine Noise problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/22/2009

My car fails to start on occasion. The frequency is monthly. The engine sounds like it's going to start but just doesn't. If I wait several seconds and try again, then the engine starts. From what I've been reading everyone seems to be complaining that it's the crankshaft sensor. I thought the recall fixed this issue but apparently not. So many owners are complaining yet Nissan is doing nothing. This is my first Nissan and my last. I'll stick to Honda next time.

20 Engine Noise problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/30/2007

Starting at just over 100,000 miles the engine began making strange noises. But once I changed my oil the noises would go away. I also noticed that my car was having difficulty shifting gears and even would just stop running at low speeds. After about 4 months of this is when we realized that the engine was consuming a lot of oil. So, basically my car was running on no oil for months at at a time. I took my car in and they said that the only way to get around this is to put oil in her every 2 weeks! that, or get a new engine. My car has never been recalled for this issue and Nissan refuses to fix it, simply b/c of the mileage.

21 Engine Noise problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/04/2007

I am making this complaint with a safety concern in my 2006 Nissan Altima. I purchased the car from santa monica Nissan on 07/29/06. Since then the car has already been to the dealer several times with identical problems. The car hesitates at times while driving on local roads, freeways and hilly roads, and skids while taking turns. I am very scared to drive this car because of the slowed down motion during heavy traffic hours. It is a big safety issue to be driving a car that hesitates when you're trying to catch up to the speed of traffic & skids, making a loud screechy sound when trying to turn. I have complained to the manufacturer several times, but each time they send me back saying that there's nothing wrong with the car. They are neglecting the problem instead of resolving it. No reasonable conclusion has been reached as yet. I am looking for Nissan to buy the car back before there are any injuries to myself or others. Nissan has failed to resolve my issues. I definitely am staying away from Nissan!!!.
