4 Engine Stall problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/02/2018

I own a Nissan Altima 2013, and sadly I've more problems with this vehicle than any other I ever owned. The engine stalls when in notion and stationery. Sometimes it takes multiple tries to even get it started. The interior door handles on the both the driver and passenger side broke and had to be replaced. The air bag sensors had to be replaced. The hood latch had to be replaced. And the back brakes have been changed three times and it s still has a awful lengthy squeak which is very embarrassing. So say the least this is very disappointing considering I'm still paying over three hundred dollars a month for a car not and still have to come out of pocket for repairs that the extended warranty supposedly does not cover. Very disappointed with this purchase. All of these issues have happened over time and I'm still having issues to this day.

E. , sudden engine stalling & delayed restart due to defective sensors], but Nissan refused to expand the recall to include my car. Apparently, there are thousands of similar situations showing up on the internet, posted by unhappy owners similarly ignored by Nissan.

12 Engine Stall problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/29/2017

Vehicle is a 2014 Nissan Altima 4 cylinder motor. It recently had the transmission recall, disguised as a "campaign" performed. It was a software update. Since then, the car upshifts while decelerating, causing the engine to stumble & almost stall. It is similar to the torque converter locking up & affecting the drivetrain. If the engine stalled, driver would lose control of the vehicle & might crash the car. The car is in motion when it happens on a road where speeds are about 50 mph, which is about the speed we were driving when it happened. It has happened while driving straight or in mild turns.

13 Engine Stall problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/14/2017

14 Engine Stall problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/09/2017

Recall campaign r3022 / 03v455000 due to defective original manufacturer crankshaft / camshaft sensor, this caused my engine to completely stall at 65 mph on the California 57 south freeway. Extreme dangerous driving experience had occurred and caused unsafe driving condition for the surrounding vehicles. Vehicle had difficulty steering and braking which luckily avoided any accident. The recall campaign was conducted along with other recalls in the past, but when inspected, the crankshaft and 2 camshaft sensors were never replaced under the said recall. Hopefully the NHTSA can contact Nissan on my behalf to conduct an investigation on why the original sensors deemed defective in the recall campaign was not properly replaced.

15 Engine Stall problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/09/2017

"takata recall". My complaint is that while driving my 2003 Nissan Altima, the engine stalls intermittently. I only have about 50k miles on the car and it has been well cared for. This is very dangerous as you can imagine. The code comes up p0335, but the mechanic believes it is a faulty crankshaft position sensor as well as circuitry issues involving the same part. Apparently, there has been a recall on the crankshaft position sensor for the 2003 Nissan Altima, however dealers are not willing to acknowledge this. I would like this investigated further, as I'm discovering upon further research this is a pandemic among 2003 Nissan Altima owners and an extreme safety hazard while driving. I was nearly rear ended at a stoplight a few weeks ago and while driving at a 45mph speed on a busy street where there were many cars around me.

16 Engine Stall problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 240,000. Ak.

18 Engine Stall problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/18/2016

Loose power valve screws - while driving my 2003 Nissan Altima 2. 5 s both on city streets and on the freeway, the vehicle arbitrarily ran super rough to the point of almost completely cutting off in middle of traffic lanes. One instance was particularly dangerous because I was making a left turn across traffic lanes, and the engine stalled in the middle of opposing traffic lanes and I was almost t-boned by oncoming cars. Finally the engine wouldn't start at all one day, so I had the car towed to the dealer, and they identified a problem with intake power valve screws that needed to be replaced at a significant price. I had to get the car towed once before, and the dealer diagnosed the problem as a defective camshaft position sensor, not covered by any recalls, but obviously a significant problem for 2003 Nissan Altima owners. After doing my own research, there seems to be a large number of owners of this same car experiencing the same power valve screw problem also. I also believe there is a recall on 2004 and 2005 Nissan Altimas for this problem, which have the same engine as my car.

26 Engine Stall problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

On August 18, 2014, after dropping my son off at school. I came to stop at a traffic light and when the light changed, I started to take off and noticed the car has shut down. I eventually made it home with the car going a very low speed and then speed up, but when car to a start the engine stalls. The vehicle was put on a computer to see what the diagnosis were and it was the camshaft sensors and crankshaft sensor costing $80 dollars for two and $70 for another, however these items has been changed along with a tune up and the car is doing the same. After doing some research on the computer, I noticed there were recalls on the crankshaft sensors and the ecm. I contacted Nissan dealer, an appointment was made and I was told that my VIN number is not showing so the problem had to been done, because I'm the second owner. It's funny how this problem comes about after 4 1/2 years of having this vehicle and the recall suppose to have been taking care of with the first owner. This is an inconvenience and it's frustrating. There is also rusting of the floor under the car, you can see the floor coming down from under the car on the passenger side. This is an outrage and something needs to be done at the cost of the dealers and not the owners. This is dangerous, you can be driving at a speed and the car just stop, which can cause a very bad accident.

29 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/09/2013

While driving in a small street, gas peddle just stops working. Car just keeps moving at speed of 5miles like in neutral mode but checked being in drive mode. Then all lights start flashing and stops after some distance). Towed to dealer-states battery suddenly died. Bring it home. Then same thing happened - again just stops working at redlight with flashing all lights but clearly battery ok as powered drive seat can be moved. Again towed and dealer stating that they are changing alternator. Appears recall of 2007 - crankshaft position sensor/engine stall or similar nature problem happening again. Very dangerous to suddenly stop on road. Called Nissan- opened case #[xxx]. Waiting for their assessment. Car has been repaired so many times since bought new in 2006 , even engine changed. 31 Engine Stall problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/22/2012

I am the original owner of my 2002 Nissan Altima and I bought the car in the fall of 2001. I religiously change the oil on time and have properly maintained the car. The car has extremely low mileage for its age. I have received all of the Nissan recalls. Since December 2001, I have had the problem of the engine stalling without warning and also, at times, losing all power in the car, an extremely dangerous condition and that almost caused me to have two accidents. After four recalls for the same problem of the engine stalling without warning, this year the car is again stalling without warning and I am told by my mechanic that I need to replace the crank sensor, which was replaced in 2004 by one of Nissan recalls. I am told a crank sensor should last of the length of car's life. I am also told that those who received the 2009 version of the sensor have had no subsequent problems only those who had the older sensors are apparently at grave risk. I was in the car trying to cross an intersection with my 5 year old son in the back of car when my engine stalled without warning and when the engine dies I am without power. This was the first time since the last recall that the car stalled on me. This makes the stalling problem even more deadly. People think the problem was fixed by the earlier multiple recalls and are instead driving cars that are time bombs. Nissan needs to address this problem immediately.

32 Engine Stall problem of the 2004 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/19/2011

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the driver was informed that a head gasket might be blown. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure continued and the driver began to notice that the engine was consuming oil at a very rapid rate. The contact expressed concerns over a possible fire or the engine stalling. The failure mileage was 47,000.

34 Engine Stall problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/19/2010

The engine stalls when stopped or moving at slow speeds. This happens intermittently, between 1-15 times a month in normal driving. There is an outstanding recall (06v242000) that matches my problem but my VIN doesn't match those being recalled.

35 Engine Stall problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/24/2010
