The engine has always made excessive noise when accelerating. I have since learned that it has been the transmission and is a common problem with the cvt transmission in Nissan Altimas. I feel that given the several thousand dollars it takes to fix that Nissan should either put out a recall or compensate for this as it causes the driver to be stranded one the transmission does eventually fail.

While pulling into a parking place at a restaurant all of a sudden my wife heard a loud noise and surge from the engine propelling the car forward and over an embankment fortunately for a few trees and god's help my wife is thankfully still alive the embankment had approximately 100' drop this has never happened before the sound coming from the engine she still hears, not sure once the car is fixed if we buy another Nissan Altima or even continue to drive this one, something caused this car to surge and it definitely was not her foot,.

There is a loud rumbling noise when I accelerate, and upon research, I saw online that a lot of buyers are having the same issue as I am. It just doesn't sound good, I owned a 2005 Nissan Altima a few years back and this car sounded better than my current 2013 Altima. Just sounds like an old beat up car and it is only a few years old.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the service engine warning indicator remained illuminated. In addition, there was a strong vibration, a loud noise near the engine, and the engine moved while the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice where it was confirmed that the vehicle was not included in the manufacturer's recall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced two of the engine mounts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, stated that they no longer used the provider before to the engine mounts and had a new provider who supplied the parts which provided no solution for the contact because they also stated that the vehicle was excluded from the manufacturer recall. The failure mileage was not available.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced severe vibration after being started and while being operated. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine mount bolt was stripped and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. In addition, the sun roof detached from the vehicle independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a bolt missing in the sun roof and, due to weather conditions, caused corrosion of the sun roof. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact heard an abnormal sound from the sun roof area. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

This Nissan is burning oil like crazy. It started in Jan, 2015, engine was making terrible noise, oil level checked, completely empty. I took it to Nissan who said it wasn't a problem and did oil change. Then, just this Saturday, June 27th the car was hard to start and sounded like metal so I turned it off and checked the oil- completely empty again. We had to pour 4 quarts in!!! it does not have a leak, nothing is ever seen where it has been parked. It is just burning oil like crazy due to some type of defect from Nissan that hundreds and hundreds have complained about on line if you google Nissans burning oil. . . And dangerous situations that have occurred . I do not want to wait for an accident, please, please, listen to all of us and get Nissan to address this failure with their vehicles. This vehicle only has 100,000 on it and I have changed the oil every 3500 miles without fail. I did nothing to cause this along with the other hundreds to thousands of other Nissan owners that have complained about this. I have called Nissan in the past on my other Altima about their ac that fails due to it always running with defroster and it doesn't turn off then so it's always running. Also, I see many other rusted out floorboards, causing the passenger seat to not be bolted down in this same year that I had happen to me 2 years ago and had to spend $2000. 00 to fix that they said the same, sorry , this is not our problem. What would have happened in an accident, the passenger would've not been protected when their seat flew off. Please, please go after them . . . . They are terrible.
I was waiting at a traffic light to turn green and when I started going and my car made a loud noise so I thought somebody hit me. I got out of the car,but no hit to my car. I thought that was weird because I didn't know what happened. It didn't happened again until a few months later. Most of the time when I start driving I hear a boom sound and I feel that my engine is going to break down. It feels like my gears are not connecting from first to second or if the transmission is not connecting with my engine. If I start driving and then I speed up, my car makes the boom noise. The same happens when I'm coming down the road at a regular speed and I slow down because traffic is slowing, but then we continue at the regular speed my car makes the boom noise like the gears didn't connect. My car is an automatic. I took my car to my mechanic and he told me to check with Nissan for any recalls because my car gave him a motor code p0726 which has to due with the motor's crankshaft. He told me that my engine and transmission are not connecting. I search to see if anybody else had that problem and it has been people complaining about the same problem, but no recall has been issue for this problem. Hopefully there's a recall soon to prevent any accidents due to this problem.

The dealer advised the contact that her vehicle was not included in any recalls. The manufacturer was not notified and the vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were 123,358.
No real warning. Engine starting knocking one day and found out it was 2 quarts low after changing it the previous week. Put 2 quarts of oil more in and drove 300 miles to only find that it was low again. I have to put oil in around every 200 miles now to prevent my engine from making loud noises. The mechanic I took it too said the cat converters and motor needed replacement. I am a college student and cannot afford a replacement engine or a new car so am stuck dumping 2 quarts in every 200 miles.
Engine ping noise from engine at times really loud noise got worse then more problems happened over time at a stop car was accelerating like if was pressing the brake and the gas at the same time, next car would come to a stop then lost power when accelerating the car would not go more than a few mph this happened a few times and once down hill the car would not go in reverse and almost hit a parked car also almost got in an accident because the car would not clear an intersection , I also got video footage of incident ,dealer keeps saying there is nothing wrong and the car is safe even after they saw the video they say the computer shows nothing then a recorder was installed in the car and the car was accelerated by itself the recorder button was pressed and the car was then taken to the dealer the recorder was taken off and the main Nissan company called me and said that the information on the recorder was accidentally erased. I have had many problems with this car since I had it this is my main concern but I have had problems from the windows not rolling down to the airbag light turning on and tail lights not working the dealer is not helping neither Nissan direct and at this point im concerned of my safety and my family's.

On several occasions my car as suddenly cutoff, while driving!!!! luckily, nobody was ever physically hurt. Mentally and emotionally it scared the crap out of several people, including myself. While on the expressway I've started to notice my car automatically slowing down after a certain speed, without me even touching the brakes. For awhile I stopped getting on the expressway, in fear of my car completely stopping with cars driving behind me at a faster pace. Also, at 55 + miles/hr my tires start to wobble and there's a scrubbing noise with the wobble sometimes. It feels like my back tires are about to fall off. I've bought 3 sets of tires already, and tomorrow will be my 4th set. This is ridiculous and very unsafe!!!!! please help me, thanks.
While driving my car the day before, engine suddenly stopped on a five lane hwy in center lane during heavy traffic at speed limit of 70mph. My son and I were stranded helpless in the midst of cars heading right towards us. An hour later geico sent a tow to take us to the Nissan dealership where I purchased my car. The stall was due to a recall on the engine sensor issued in 2006. Dealer had denied recall multiple times prior but had finally recognized it. Left the car overnight to have ecn reprogrammed and was told that it needed diagnostic for $192. 14. I stated I wanted to take it elsewhere and was called the next morning to come pick up my car. Got there car was running, asked if there had ever been any other problems with this model and told no. Got 1/2 of mile and loud noise and loss of power. Engine completely died while driving and lost steering and brakes while in traffic. To avoid going into next lane oncoming traffic, I swerved other way into telephone poll. Engine completely dead since then and has been proclaimed as totaled due to locked engine. Engine qr25de was taken off sales floor in 2006 and I received no information at all. Dealer told me he never heard of any problems with my car. On receipt from dealer it states car is unsafe to drive but dealer never gave me receipt to sign and never even eluded to car doing same thing it had done less than 24 hours prior. Said he put oil in car and it started up and was ready for me to pick up. I had just had oil change and had no oil leaks whatsoever. My son is traumatized and can't sleep nights from first incident and I have no vehicle and can't get to doctor for my back, leg, and knee injury I suffered in the crash. Nissan says 6 weeks until they send an inspector to see car and I'm paying for each day it sits on the lot of mechanic. Still have not even dispatched orders and it is now 9 days later. My life and my son's were knowingly put in danger twice due to corp & dealer negligence.
2002 Nissan Altima check engine light with catalytic converter breaking up and pieces destroying the engine. The engine has started burning oil with loud noises. Was told car needed a new engine by dealer with no explanation on why. Car has only 97, 000 miles and is well maintained. Contacted Nissan consumer affairs and was told to send all maintenance records. After they reviewed all my records I was told they could not help me. After confronting them with the fact it is a known defect in that model car they still insisted they cannot help us. If engine seizes while driving it will mostly like cause a dangerous situation. Something needs to be done by Nissan to resolve this defect that they are aware of.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. When the vehicle was started with the electric button, the contact heard a very loud noise coming from the engine compartment. The failure was previously repaired twice; however, it still occurred. She also stated that an extensive amount of heat was coming from the vent near the accelerator pedal while the heating system was not activated. The powertrain and failure mileage were unknown. The current mileage was 11,000.
I purchased a 2006 Nissan Altima in June of 2006 and I have been complaining about my engine making loud noises as well as the condition of the car when I received it. Since I have the car I have been having to repair a lot of things that shouldn't have to be done yet. Please help me in getting my car fixed.
