Other Fuel System Problems of Nissan Altima - part 1

I’ve had to replace the break sensor a few times and it’s unusual… my check engine light came on and it reads the code for the catalyst converter. . , the auto part store saw a recall on this for my make and model but not seeing it here . The code was cleared and hasn’t came back on yet but I’m anticipating it will . . These two issues need to be further looked into please.

Fuel system: car hesitates and cut off after pumping fuel. \n' + 'outer tie rods torn rubber, vehicle never been realigned, but tires were worn on both front sides. \n' + 'takata air bag light has been on for over 2 years. \n' + 'transmission over heats. Engine cuts back between 45 and 60 mph on the freeway. So we stop and allow it to cool off.

After driving over a hour or so the rpm will stick at 3 and the mph will not go over 60. The car occasionally lose power as well. I have already had the throttle body and the alternator recently done.

I been having issues with my car stalling out and not wanting to start I got the spark plugs replaced by a mechanic and then my car starts over heating I have my car looked at by a mechanic again and I’m told the engine is corrupt by oil and the fuel pump is bad my car can be inspected for this issue as it is having a lot more issues due to the Nissan recalls but my VIN doesn’t cover it.

I have a 2016 Nissan Altima 3. 5 sr I brought into the Nissan dealership multiple times since 2022 now in 2025 at 100,000 miles to transmission is not working it's dying at intersections and oil is pouring out of the engine I was told that there was a recall that expired in April of 2023 however I was never notified about the recall despite taking my car to the Nissan dealership prior to that date no one ever said that there was a problem with the cvt I've stored my car multiple years because I'm a veteran and I had to deploy so it wasn't driven as much and now that's crossed 100,000 miles it's on its last leg this isn't fair the 2019 models are getting recalled they should fix mine I've taken care of this car and now they're trying to deny me my mobility I'm a retiree I don't have that much money the last time I took it to the dealership they said I needed a new engine never once mentioning that there were previous recalls on this vehicle. I need help.

While driving down the interstate at 70 miles per hour, going up an incline, the car lost all power & then jerked kicking back into gear. Once off the interstate attempting to get to a safe place, it completely shut off without warning! no check engine lights or any warning lights. Just randomly shuts off. After replacing what was assumed as the mass flow air sensor ($186. 00) & the crankshaft sensor ($80) it continues to have issues. The battery (new battery $220) was also replaced & the alternator checked due to randomly shutting off-which checked out to be fine. Come to find out it’s the cvt judder. After reading all the complaints, I’m confused as to why there isn’t a recall or extended warranty on the transmission. My car only has 119k miles! we should not be having issues with these transmission.

After the car warms up it will not accelerate like it should. I was stopped at a light - when I went to turn left at the light my car would not accelerate. It slowly rolled out into oncoming traffic. Like it was in limp mode or something. Then at the last minute the car jolted forward like I had the gas pedal fully depressed. Very scary and unsafe. I’ve had this happen many times. I’ve taken it in but haven’t found a solution.

I was using cruise control on the highway. My rpms started going up and down and my speed slowed. I took it off cruise control and the speed was irregular. The car responded slowly to my pressing the accelerator. My car started squealing and I pulled over on the turnpike. I tried to press the accelerator after I stopped but the car would not move. I was unsafe because my car was on the shoulder of a highway and it was 85 degrees. I was also unsafe because my speed was not consistent and there was traffic around me. Lastly, I had to wait an hour for a tow truck. Two mechanics confirmed that this is a cvt judder problem. There were no warning lamps and no signs of a problem before this occurred.

On Wednesday 08/21/2024, at approximately 6:30 pm, my 2024 Nissan Altima completely shut off whiile my wife was driving the car down a very busy road. She narrowly miss being struck by another while attempting to navigate to the center lane of a busy highway with no power. Vehicle still had lights and dashboard display but would not move. After coming to a stop she turned the vehicle off completely, waited for a moment and then, attempted to start the vehicle. The vehicle started and she was able to continue traveling down the road. As of this Saturday (08/24/202), the vehicle has not duplicated the event.

After driving the vehicle for about an hour, when coming to a stop, the vehicle will not accelerate. Stepping in the acceleration pedal does nothing. No rpm increase, nothing. After 10 seconds the vehicle suddenly takes off. After angry drivers honk. The rpms rev up and will not decrease to normal. I am limited to 25 mph with very high rpms. Same thing repeats after every stop. The problem goes away intermittently after restarting the car. I've almost died trying to make turns in front of oncoming traffic when it will not accelerate.

When I first start the car the engine revs and the tachometer or the rpm reader stays above 2 while reving for over a minute which is too long. The needle eventually goes to 1 but it seems like when I change gears to drive it "hits hard" then almost skids out and almost glides at times. It doesn't happen every single time but it happens often enough where I don't feel safe driving. The steering when I back out of a space also feels like it is "skipping". I don't know how to really describe it but it is worrisome.

I have taken the car to 3 mechanics for 4-5 incidents knowing that the mechanics were indeed certified in professionally fixing the issue. I was driving the car and made a proper left turn, yielding to oncoming traffic when suddenly the vehicle was unable to accelerate. The other car was approaching and I pushed on the gas as hard as I could to barely get it to move out of the way, luckily avoid a collision. The car died and will restart and drive another 11 miles, repeating the process. No mechanic has been able to properly identify the cause. Please understand, I could be that "lies" to individuals in order to sell the car, but do I really want to put another person's life at such a faulty incident? well, I recommend another recall on the issue, regardless of the cost because a little hood latch and a simple light compartment isn't anything like an unknown cause of malfunction stall towards driving in a hectic traffic.

Was driving and when we stopped and was ready to pull out the car wouldn’t move. The gas pedal was all the way to the floor after several seconds it shot across the road a then wouldn’t get above 20 mph. The rpm gauge shot all the way, pegged out. Drove for a few miles and pulled over. Turned the car off and then it took off just fine. Shortly afterwards it bogged down again and would get over 20mph again. Something needs to be fixed right away.

Sometimes when I'm driving the car starts idling as if I'm going fast that's how it sounds and I'm making a turn and it's sounds like it's accelerated but it won't go as much as I step on the gas it will not go so I got to pull over to the side wait for a little bit turn off the car and let it sit and then I'll go back tomorrow and it's every time this light turns on the dashboard with a car with the swively lines.

I own a 2017 Nissan Altima. This vehicle has been having similar issues that other owners have reported with the vehicle failing to accelerate after stopping or sitting ideal while running the and you go too take off, barely moves to a crawl even if the gas pedal is to the floor. It will also loose power (speed) without warning while driving. The vehicle will not register any warning lights when this occurs not even a check engine light comes on when this occurs. It does not register any issues in a diagnostic test to which one was completed by a Nissan dealer in lebanon PA. (moyer Nissan). Because of this the service advisor/mechanic indicated that they would be "guessing" as to what the issue was even though it is clearly a issue with the 2017 models; it hasn't been the first time I'm sure that someone came to that Nissan dealer with the same problems and knowing that the 2017 have complaints with cvt transmission. I'm no mechanic but I think it is a blatant disregard for human life if that they do not recall this vehicle or at the very least replace all equipment (transmission; throttle, pertaining to the accelerator) at no expense to the owner.

When I am stopped at a light or in stop and go traffic my car will not accelerate when I put my foot on the gas pedal. I can push it all the way to the floor and my car will not move. It takes about 10 seconds or so then my car will jolt quickly and finally go. I have also had issues with the rpm's shooting up while I am driving at a low rate of speed. This has happened maybe 3 times and I have to pull over and turn my vehicle off then turn it back on and then it seems to drive normally. This issue started several months ago and at first it was just occasionally. Now it is more frequent and happens anytime I am driving. If I turn my car off then turn it back on it seems to correct the issue briefly. I have found myself while stopped in traffic just turning my car off then back on because I am in fear of it happening. This is dangerous as I am at risk of getting hit when I am making a turn at an intersection if my car will not move. I have looked online and it seems other people with Altimas the same year have also experienced similar problems. I have not had the vehicle inspected. There are no warning lights that have come on in the vehicle indicating there is a problem.

Check engine light "p0087" "fuel rail/system pressure-too low" engine stall message- its a recall out already just not for all 2019 Nissan Altima whixh it should be.

Delayed acceleration after making a stop, high rpms when accelerating after making a stop. All above conditions appears to happen randomly.

Malfunction indicator light keeps coming on and remaining on.

Parked car due to electrical and transmission issues had left it for a couple hours to receive assistance and the car was gone it had no plates because I was attempting to register the car that same day.

Sometimes my car loses power when accelerating, other times it takes around 10 seconds to get going.

I was involved in a collision where my 2016 Nissan Altima sustained rear end damage, began smoking and burst into flames.

- fuel system and gauge - smell of gas in the car, gas gurgles out of the filler tube. Concerned of driving the car with the smell of gas. - dealer says repair it's not covered yet there's a recall bulletin on this problem (Nissan TSB ntb17-030). Say's diagnosing the problem isn't covered nor the repair. - no - fuel gauge reacts very slowly, won't go past halfway point. Can only fill $5 dollars of gas into the tank.

The vehicle shakes, for a lack of better word it shudders during drives short or long, smells of gasoline constantly, randomly decides not to start, has fuel efficiency problems, is prone to overheating, the dealer confirmed there is an issue, but told me they can't do anthony about it because the "fix" used aftermarket parts and they refuse to do anything until the parts are changed back. The dealership even told me I might as well just run the vehicle to the ground due to that issue!.

Since June of 2022, my car has been in service repair a total of 10 times. Each time my check engine comes on, the diagnostic codes always involve the a/f sensor. This started at 35,000 miles and Nissan cannot figure out the issue. There are several bulletins addressing the issue, with the most recent being 2022. The service dealership will no longer work on my car surrounding the issue. As a result of having a sensor issue that cannot be repaired, the car will periodically not respond with acceleration. I have had two very close calls of making a left hand turn in front of oncoming traffic with the gas pedal suddenly not responding no matter how hard it’s pressed. It’s almost as if it goes into neutral. The rpm’s increase and the engine revs, but it just won’t move. After several seconds of remaining motionless, the car then suddenly accelerates to the speed that it should. This issue is not an outlier. I contacted several people that listed their cars for sale, that stated their check engine light is on due to an 02 sensor. They all stated they have tried to get the car repaired with zero success. People then just sell the car and transfer the issue to another person. If it hasn’t already, this issue is going to kill someone. My car stalled in front of two cars coming towards me at 50 mph. Had they not stopped in time, I would have been t-boned on the drivers side. That wouldn’t have ended well. Nissan suggested I sell the car- that is their solution regarding a car that became unrepairable at 35,000 miles. Nissan did send an engineer to the dealership to inspect the car- multiple times. They do not know how to fix the issue.

Vehicle caught on fire while inside home @ 4:00am cst. Fire department and police department were at the scene as well. Fire department was forced to pry open the trunk to stop fire from spreading. Police gave police report at the scene due to the incident. State farm is involved as well as the investigation team currently. State farm insurance informed me to provide this information.

It smells like gas when I start the car. It's also wasting alot of gas. I have to put gas every couple of days. I spend more money putting gas. The steering and suspension and the tires keep giving me problems to where the brakes locked up on their own and now it drives really bad especially on the freeway. The steering wheel moves alot when I'm on the freeway sometimes feel like I'm loosing control of the car. The gas pedal gets stuck and the gear shift gets stuck in park. I have to use a nail filer the metal ones and push and hold the shift lock for it to move into gear. The car keeps saying key not detected even tho it's in the car with me. I just got the car from a small dealership in pomona in April of 2023.

Receiving engine stall message when hitting gas.

The rear O2 sensor failed on my 2017 Nissan Altimas with only 29,900 miles on it and it cost me almost $400. 00 to replace it. This is a part that should easily last for 150,000 miles. The failure of this part affects public safety by causing abnormally high emissions if not replaced. This failed component is identical to the recall issued in 2022 which covers the rear O2 sensor for 2013 - 2016 Nissan Altimas for 20 years or 200,000 miles. 2017 models should be covered under the same recall as it is the same problem and same part (even the same part number) which was covered under the 2013 - 2016 recall and I hope the NHTSA will pursue this on my behalf.

I just bought a 2014 nisson Altima as is from a Nissan dealer. As the car warms up I,m getting carbon monoxide fumes coming into the car. Car was purchased at Nissan dealership as is! I took it to an auto shop and according to the computer it doesn,t show any dash light warnings and cannot find the source of the problem. The car cost me $23,000. 00! rich davis.

April-may, key fob not being recognized so changed the battery in key fob 4 times. May, driving at 55mph on i495 beltway, pushed on gas and did not get gas. Immediately put on flasher and drifted to right curb. Dashboard was still lit. Turned the car off. Within minutes restarted the car and went where I was going. I had autozone run a diagnostic and they said the car was fine. Drove another couple of weeks before it happened again. This time the car would not restart and I was stopped in a very dangerous location so I had aaa tow it to my residence. The next day the car started. I drove another two weeks before reoccurring. I was able to drive it home and it has been parked. There are never any warning, check engine light, etc. A Nissan mechanic told me the symptoms I told him sounds like an issue with the sensor mobilizer. I google searched and found a recall for the Nissan rogue but not the Nissan Altima. I did a VIN report and it showed 0 recalls. I definitely have a serious safety issue. Without warning the car gets no response from the gas pedal.

When I was in aacident in 2006 airbags did not open. I worry about valve cap and if it is safe. Other this when openning my door door handle are defected and breaking off. I never had a car where door handles break. I would like assistance with these issues. Thank you. Debra dixon-customer.
