1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/03/2020

My 2012 Nissan Altima 2. 5 sl cut off while I was driving yesterday. I was going about 15 mph and making a right turn when the car cut off in the middle of the turn. There were no warning lights before, during or after the incident. I was able to coast into the parking lot where I restarted the car. There was of a tank of gas in the car and all of the battery cables were secure. I had the battery and alternator checked and both were fine. There are 76,979 miles on the car. This was the first time this has ever happened, however, after doing some research I have learned this is a common problem with this vehicle. I have loved driving this car for the past few years, but now I am afraid this will continue to happen and could cause me to lose my life in a traffic accident. Please advise me of your official recommendation as to how I should proceed.

Failure Date: 04/02/2020

Fuel sensor is not showing fuel level properly most of the time while vehicle is in motion, if you are on the highway or freeway the fuel shows full tank or close to the full tank but any time your car stops in middle of the highway because you ran out of fuel and you don't know the correct fuel level in your vehicle. If the car stops in the middle of the highway then it may cause an serious accidents or crash.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/18/2019

Fueling the vehicle has had intermittent issues. Sometimes the pump would shut off prior to being full and I would have to manually hold it to get tank full. Today I attempted to fill the tank and it would only stay on for a few second and then the nozzle would come out if the tank and spray gas all over. Attempted to fill several times with the same outcome. I had the gas station manager come out because I assumed it was their pump that was the issue. I now only have enough gas to go 57 miles.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/05/2018

2016 Nissan Altima fuel gauge is not registering correctly. I fill up the tank but the dashboard gauge shows as half full even though the mileage to empty is updating I think correctly. Each time I fill up tank the level does not go to the full mark. I have contacted the dealer because I just bought the car a month ago. Waiting for them to contact me back to schedule a service appointment.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/12/2016

My trouble began as I sat and fueled my car with the same type of gas that I have been using for years. I filled my tank, started my car and it started huffing and puffing as if it was about to shut off. After a few minutes it stopped. A few days later while I was driving down the road one day I heard this loud rattling noise as if a chain or something was dragging the ground or being rattled. I approached a red light and lowered my radio to listen and as I sat idle in drive I could hear this rattling noise coming from the the front end of my car. As I drove down the road further it continued then stopped. I then parked my car and as I was in reverse the sound came back. I went on about my day and returned to my car to start it up and as I started it I heard the rattling loud noise again. I backed out of my parking spot and it continued. As I driving around at a speed of about 30-40 I could hear the noise come and go. I took my car to Nissan and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong. They told me everything under the hood of my car was fine. A few days later I brought my car back to Nissan informing them the the noise is continuing and my car shakes and jerks. I left my car and they called and said my alternator needed to be replaced. Just a couple days prior they said everything was fine so now I'm confused. I took my car to 3 separate auto shops and had them test my alternator and all 3 said my alternator, battery and starter were working perfectly. I began to research online to see if anyone had the same issues I have and there it was. A recall for the transverse link bolt. I'm pissed that Nissan would try to rip of a customer like that.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Takta recall. Hello, I have purchased a Nissan Altima 2. 5 s 2003. My entire carextremely shakes from the moment I start my car until I turn it off. When I'm driving the car , the car at times drives like it's going to fail. Multiple times when driving, the car would stopped opereating properly. When my car is turned on gas/fuel like fumes through the ventilation system and throughout my vehical making it difficult to breathe at times. The door on the driver side, out of knkwhere shifted to where I can't shut my door completely. The door sensor light stays on when I turn my car off and it drains my battery because my door doesn't shut completely, and the door sensor stays on. Also, out of knowwhere the gas tank door, has shifted out of know where to where I can't shut the gasoline door completely. Also, my car"a windshields gets very foggy rapidly after I clean them, making visibilty difficult.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/08/2015

The car suddenly died in traffic and I couldn't get it to start. I had to put the car in neutral and push it out of the road. The gas gauge was reading that it had over a quarter tank of gas when it was actually empty. It caused my vehicle to run out of gas in traffic. This is extremely dangerous and could have caused me to get into a serious accident. No damage or injuries occurred in this particular incident, so I did not contact police.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/21/2015

My gas tank has a four to five inch split on the seam of the gas tank. There is no damage to the tank I believe the part is defective and is extremely dangerous. I am in the process of asking Nissan corporate to warranty the gas tank as it should not have a large split on the seam. There may be other tanks like this and will catch fire, I currently drive with a fire extinguisher on my front seat because I have to drive it to work.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

Was driving along 15 freeway southbound in las vegas getting ready to exit flamingo at around 7:30 pm. Road was clear. All of a sudden I hear a loud noise that sound like it' came from the rear of the car underneath. As I exit flamingo my wife and I start to smell gas but we think it may be because there are so many car's out on the road. When continue driving to our hotel (bally's) and pull in to valet. I ask the valet driver if he smells gas and he says yes it pretty strong too, my wife hears dripping and looks out the the passenger side and see gas pouring from the bottom of the car. The tell me to pull the car to the back to park so that it can be towed away and the gas can be cleaned up by hasmat. I park the car and watch for a while as gas is just pouring from the tank. There was nothing in the road, I didn't run over anything I don't know what happend to the tank. . Had it towed to autonation Nissan in las vegas and they said the tank was punctured some how. . 14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/22/2014

The advertised mpg for this vehicle is 38 mpg. 3/22/2014 made a trip to tulsa, ok. Filled up at I-430 headed to tulsa at 6,657 miles. Drove 401 miles and refilled at 7,058 with 13. 218 gallons 30. 3374 mpg. Filled up again at I-430 at end of road trip at 7,221 after 163 miles with 5. 085 gallons 32. 05506391. All highway! we bought a new Nissan Altima late in 2013 with a highway rated miles per gallon of 38. We love this vehicle except for the gas mileage. We were debating on a Toyota prius v and the Altima when we made our purchase and felt we had a better buy with the Altima and expected to get close to the rated mpg when on trips. We are both in our 60's have good driving records and habits. We previous owned a new 2004 Toyota prius and a new 2007 prius. I have a spreadsheet on the 2004 that I kept for some time reflecting roughly 45 mpg, about 90% of the rated mpg. This was an average of daily driving that included driving from our rural home in the county to work in the city. We did not keep records on the 2007 as mileage checks showed we were getting very similar positive results. We felt we should reasonably expect to achieve some 90% of the 38 mpg when driving the Altima on road trips. Saturday, March 22, 2014 we checked and we were not getting close to the 90%. We filled up the tank at the nearest station to I-430 on colonel glenn road in little rock on a trip to tulsa, ok. We filled up after 400 miles on our way home from tulsa, and at the same station on colonel glenn after exiting I-430. These were 564 highway miles on these two tanks of fuel requiring 18. 303 gallons for a 30. 814 miles per gallon. This is only 81% of the 38 expected miles per gallon on the sticker for highway miles. I would like to know how to come closer to the 38 mpg and why it is permissible to give a rating so much higher than one can achieve.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/13/2014

We bought our car in January and it had 1,900 miles on it. We didn't drive it very much because it was winter and the roads in wv are bad. But I remember in March when I went to see my daughter it started jerking like it wanted to stop on the road. I remember I had let the gas get down to a quarter of a tank of gas when it first started and I thought I had got some bad gas. So I continued to drive it sometimes it would do it and then it wouldn't for a while. But the past month in June it is so bad it feels like you slam on the brakes while you are driving and sounds like the motor is going to fall out. I also noticed I had let the gas go down to a quarter tank again and it is scary so I called the Nissan dealer and they told me if it didn't set the code they couldn't tell me what was wrong. They suggested that we had water in the gas and told us to put the water treatment in the gas and we did. It didn't help at all it is getting worse so they have finally set up an appointment for us to bring it in. I have did some research and found that there have been lots of complaints with the same thing that is going on with our Nissan. It is so bad I am afraid now that it is going to stop running while I am driving it to the dealership. I wonder if that is why the previous owner traded it in.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Nissan alitma. The contact stated when her gas tank is filled or half way full, the fuel in the tank makes loud sluching noises. The contact took her vehicle multiple times to the dealer for diagnostic test. The dealer recommended the contact to file a claim with the manufacturer because they were unable to repair the failure. The manufacturer stated this was a normal characteristic of the vehicle and not a defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 8. Az.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/08/2013

2014 Nissan Altima sl 2. 5 makes allot of noise and vibration when you accelerate to get up to a highway speed whether it is from the engine or transmission it is very loud inside the car! the steering wheel seems to have a lot of play in it at a dead stop with engine running by turning the wheel right to left! you also hear clunking noises turning it right to left! the fuel in the tank makes loud swishing noises sort as if I have a small ocean in my fuel tank!.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/05/2013

The brake light comes on randomly and stays on until the vehicle is turned off; the brake pedal has a "hitch" in it when letting up on it (as does the gas pedal); you can hear gas sloshing around in the gas tank. Piece of crap car.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/25/2013

Purchased a brand new Nissan Altima 2014. The second day of ownership, at 8 miles, noticed a clunking/thumping sound as braking to full stop. This radiates underneath the vehicle and occurs a majority of the time when coming to a full stop. Also there is a strong gas sloshing sound from driver side rear. This happens when tank is half full to full. Returned to dealership the first time the first week of ownership and the department did not admit hearing the sounds until it was test driven with the owner. Returned two more times to the dealership with an Nissan engineer looking at it after many phone calls to Nissan. The sounds were heard by the engineer. Engineer stated that he would try to pack around the gas tank to reduce the noise. He did nothing. We also test drove two other 2014 Altimas and a 2013 Altima and they all had the same noises!the car was ready by noon with nothing corrected. We have grave concerns with the braking system and gas tank. What is the immediate and long term effects of this clunking/thumping sound etc.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

When you have gas in the car and slow down/stop you can hear the gas sloshing back and forth in the tank. Especially if the tank is close to full.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/19/2012

I purchased my Nissan Altima 2013 s car on 17 October 2012 with 12 miles. Approximately two days later after buying this vehicle, I began hearing a constant whining noise coming from the engine compartment at a very low speed, a drumming slapping noise when I abruptly brake, a rather disturbing metal clunking sound that seems to generate from the fuel tank and finally intermittently clicking sound from the engine compartment at a high rate of speed. These sounds ar extremely nerve wrecking for a brand new car. I brought my car to three different Nissan dealerships for inspection at least seven times only to be told that these concerning sounds are normal conditions for this model. The car has also hesitated multiple times on start up. Filed a complaint that led to nowhere because Nissan north America, inc insists that these are "normal" conditions for this vehicle .

23 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 1998 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/19/2012

24 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

Purchased a Nissan 2013 in July of 2012 in 8/2012 the car had to have a total brake job on the front and rear brakes at 1300 miles. Nissan has yet to tell me why the car was manufactured with bad brakes and rotors and if there is an underlying issue that created the issue at 1300miles. Faulty powersteering pump causes the car to growl and make a winding noise. You can hear the fuel in the tank sloshing around in the tank of the car. This car is horrible.

25 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

1. When you fill the the gas tank up you can hear fuel sloshing around and knocking against the tank. 2. Brakes squeal and grind 3. Engine is noisey and growls car shakes 4. Air bag recall 5. Gas mileage is not as advertised 6. Console has been repaired multiple times.

26 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/12/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the fuel sending unit was replaced once on the vehicle. Six months after the repair, the fuel level gauge failed and was displaying one quarter of a tank less than what was actually in the fuel tank. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer fore repairs or inspection of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 33,100. Kmj.

27 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2000 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/12/2009

I was driving the car and all seemed normal, until I pulled into a gas station to refuel. Surprisingly I could not get more than 1/4 gallon into the tank before the pump kicked off and gasoline spit out of the filler neck and all over the ground. My fuel gauge was at about 1/4 tank, so I knew I needed about 11 gallons. I continued to put fuel into the tank at a very slow rate, and the pump kept kicking off and fuel spitting out of the tank filler neck. I finally got 8 gallons into the tank and so I stopped there. Shortly after leaving the gas station my check engine light came on. I got home and hook up my code reader, and it returned a code p1441. Some problem with the evap system. I did some research and found that Nissan dealerships have a service bulletin about this problems dating back quite a few years, but do not want to repair the problem free of charge. Dealers want about $100 to analyze the problem and about $400 to repair the car. I believe this could be a big safety issue when people with a 2000 Altima try to fuel up their car and gasoline keeps spitting out of the filler neck of the gas tank.

28 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/08/2005

I had a gas leak from my gas tank. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer . The service people stated that they found " slash in fuel tank. . . . Appears to be claw mark from animal. . . Found hair from animal stuck on cross member". No other damage to vehicle besides the gas tank. Vehicle is still at dealer. Have contacted regional dealer parts and service manager. I am waiting for him to call me back, because of the story from the dealer that the tank was clawed open, because common sence would say that this is not possible. . My concern is that if an animal can claw the tank open the gas tanks need to be recalled.
