Twice, I was driving at a speed of 75 mph on i25 headed north. As I arrived into colorado springs, my vehicle decelerated to 30 mph in a 65 mph zone. I immediately pulled over. I waitied for about 15 min. Started my vehicle up & still it would only go 30 mph. I turned around & headed back for pueblo. Unsure & afraid that my vehicle would not make it home. Once my car was sitting for an hour, the transmission allowed the speed to rise above 30 mph. The same incident occurred on 6/27/2015. I am afraid to drive my vehicile out of town, in fear of getting stranded, the car overheating & the mechanical transmission malfunctioning. The Nissan dealer in order to resolve the problem, needs to install a "transmission cooling system". I purchased the extended warranty thru 1st extended, over $2600. 00. They refuse to honor the warranty, claiming the cooler was ot in the car to begin with. I spoke with Nissan & southwest motors (where I purchased the car around 1 1/2 yrs. Ago. They've both confirmed that this exact problem has occurred in many Nissan vehicles. If the warranter is unwilling to warrant the problem, which is a major mechanical malfunction, then my 2012 Nissan Altima needs to be recalled! please help me for I fear this problem is a safety hazard driving on the hwy at a reduced speed & becoming stranded.

I have a 2005 Altima se-r 3. 5 v6 I was leaving a mcdonald's parking lot and as soon as I put the car in reverse there was a hard jerk and the transmission did not engage properly. The car reversed after a couple seconds and when I put it in drive a hard jerk and the car was in 5th gear. No other gears were available. I parked the car and shut if off. . . After a few seconds I started it back up and threw it in reverse and got the same result, I put it in drive then tiptronic and saw a 5 (5th gear). I called a couple friends and mechanics they said it a fail safe. So I waited again and tried to restart the car and it took a good 10-15 seconds to crank and after I reversed the car would die. I was only trying to get home (1 mike down the road) because I did not trust this car to bring me anywhere at this point. After a couple start then shut downs and letting the car sit for a few I was able to get the car running and driving in all the gears. I got on the boulevard and I was going about 20-30 and the car dies on me. Luckily it was the middle of the night and the was no traffic. I restart the car and its running in 5th gear for about 10-15 seconds and then I see my rpms going up as speed going down. The transmission was not engaging and I knew something was definitely wrong at this point. I pull to the side and pop the hood, the was so much heat but the car was not overheating. I call my mechanic and he says let it sit a bit. 20 minutes later, car cooled down a bit and a reliable friend and mechanic come help me push the car into a parking lot. We later find out the transmission failed. Fluid was still red, not burned but something else was going on inside. $2000+ later and a replacement tranny the car is up but still dying at random times, won't start. Diagnosis crank and camshaft sensors. The transmission also goes straight to 5th gear and car stalls in traffic.
I bought the car in may 2009. Up until June 2013, no problems other than regular maintenance. Car overheats and has been since June 2013 on and off. Have had battery replaced 2 times, tune up, crank shaft sensor replaced, broken seal replaced (that keeps oil/coolant) in car. Have had problems with car not starting, engine turns over but won't start. I have to keep putting anti-freeze in car before I drive it every few days if I don't the heater blows out hot air, then cold which is when overheating occurs. White smoke coming out of exhaust pipe. Been to local mechanic 3 times, and they keep charging to fix it ($500 so far). They did tune up, replace battery and fixe the broken seal. I'm a nervous wreck driving it because I'm afraid I'll get stuck somewhere.

Blown head gasket determined by mechanic after proper maintenance used on the car for past 9 years. Causes loss of coolant, and thus car can overheat and engine will eventually fail. Car also hesitates when starting and idling. Can cause an accident if car stalls while driving through intersection and thus is a safety issue.

I bought my car in July 2008 from power Nissan of tempe, az
about a month or so later I noticed when driving my car for more than 5 miles around town. I would smell an overheating odor and my car would start driving very sluggish. Car was slow to accelerate. My temperature gage on the dash has never indicated that the car was overheating. I took the car into the nearest dealership and reported the problem. I left my car overnight with them and picked it up the next day with them telling me that they could not find a leak anywhere. So I took the car home. No sooner than that I started to smell the again. So I pulled over and looked under the hood to find that the antifreeze was leaking out of the overflow cap. There are remainders of antifreeze still on the oveflow container. I took it back to the dealership and reported the problem again. I was told that all the Nissans are doing that and it was normal. As long as the temperature gage wasn't reading hot. I don't think this is normal and someone needs to look into this defect ASAP! im getting nowhere with Nissan.

My 2003 Nissan Altima with 102k miles on the 2. 5liter was driven only about 8 miles when engine suddenly slowed and stalled while I was in traffic. The vehicle overheated. All vehicle service had previously been performed. Untimately my expense to rebuilt the engine was $2. 2k with Nissan refusing to accept any responsibility. Have others had similar experience? did Nissan also not stand behind there product with other customers?.
